  1. I think Fir Park is one away ground where they often struggle. Usually they're good on the road
  2. Not seen the Well Society Facebook post but it says in the article on the MFC website that he will be in the squad. http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2014/08/15/well-take-derbys-obrien-on-loan/
  3. Well hopefully the performances of Carswell, Leitch, Erwin, and even young Ferguson last night will give McCall the confidence to play him (and others). JJ is obviously doing a good job preparing the young lads for first team football.
  4. As good as could be expected really, especially seeing as he was playing on the left as a right sided player. He got booked before he'd even touched the ball but settled as the game went on. Got a few decent blocks in and looks like his right foot is decent. He couldn't really have had a tougher opposition to debut against with the likes of GMS, Ciftci, Dow and Bilate. If ZFA and Hammell can't make Saturday I don't think McCall would hesitate much about starting him anyway.
  5. I'm assuming he just wasn't picked. We already had Ainsworth on the bench
  6. I thought everybody did quite well tonight but it's got to be big Lee Erwin for me. The boy put in a helluva shift. He was always willing to take a man on and did what he could with the little service he got. Whoever McCall brings in will have a hard time shifting him out the team
  7. @gordonduncan7: Motherwell hopeful of bringing in two players on loan from England. No decision made on Darren Barr yet.
  8. Why would playing a championship side away be any better preparation than playing a Championship or a La Liga side at home?
  9. I actually quite liked the look of Cummins. He got a decent run of games a few years back and I thought he was quite unlucky to lose his place in the team. While I'd obviously like us to strengthen our defence, I'd be happy enough to have him and Kerr as cover for CB. I was really hoping we'd be further forward with respect to bringing in another forward but so be it. I'm hoping Law/McHugh/Erwin will take this as a big opportunity to impress. As a side note: I think folk have been ridiculously over-critical of McCall, the players and the club in general in the wake of the two Stjarnan results. In reality very little has changed since that Sunday afternoon up in Aberdeen last May. It's hard to believe that the same posters are posting about the same manager, players and club. I think with an addition or maybe two, we can go on to have a similar league campaign and hopefully more succesful cup runs.
  10. ^^^Reported for excessive common sense and logic
  11. I think I'd almost be more upset if we signed Faddy than if Partick did. I love the man but I don't think he's the player we need, and McCall obviously feels the same way.
  12. It was only that wee snippet I read as well. I don't buy the bloody Sun!

  14. I don't think I'm going to be quite so scathing of the performance last night as most seem to be. I'm a glass half full sort of guy, but far from being one of the much maligned 'happy clappers'. Apart from getting caught on the break a couple of times, and the daft handball from Lasley I though we were pretty good in the first half. Before the first penalty our passing and moving was actually excellent. When they pulled that goal back and started pushing men forward our momentum and chance of killing the tie off was gone. We started to drop deeper and couldn't get Ainsworth (who was unplayable for half an hour) on the ball enough. But even in the second half where we struggled to control the game, we still managed to create a good few chances. It was after about an hour that we struggled. We were getting caught on the break while not being able to craft out too many chances ourselves. Big Erwin gave us something extra when he came on, but Fraser Kerr was more useless than the anonymous Ainsworth in the 2nd half. We did push for a 3rd goal towards the end and that is what killed us. What is it with us and defending crosses? It's fucking nuts how vulnerable we are! While it's not a sure thing, I do think we are more than capable if going over there and grabbing a win. If they sit back like they did for the first part of last nights game then we'll create chances and score goals.
  15. For the first time in something like 7 years I'm now in a position to be able to buy and use a season ticket. £310 for one in the East Stand is it? Bit of an increase from when I last had one as a juvenile!
  16. I'm hoping the crowd will be nearer 5000. There'll be plenty of people, like myself and some of my mates, who were 100% always going to go but just never saw the need to go a buy a ticket before the night.
  17. And it'll taste saltier than sea water
  18. Must've been McCall that was absolutely away with it then
  19. He's quite tall, and that's about it.
  20. Was that back in 2003?! Jesus Christ I'm getting old.
  21. Obviously a 'feel good factor' is important to season ticket sales, but I wonder if there are actually folk out there whose season ticket renewals are hinging solely on Lasley being here.
