We've already signed a striker, a winger, a defender and an attacking, goalscoring midfielder - while loaning out Maguire, Shields and punting Sol.

I'm not sure how many other changes you were expecting in January, but that's a pretty active window.

Its more out than that if you include Moult, Aarons, Fox, Penney and Connelly so that's 8 out the door for 4 in and one is crocked already

We’ve signed Olly Crankshaw on loan from Stockport according to Twitter. He’s a winger.

For some reason I find his name quite amusing, though hopefully he can make a serious contribution for us.

    Welcome to Fir Park.

its Ollie...someone on twitter correcting the official site lol

Just listening to Hammy's interview and I'm not sure what to make of it in terms of transfers. It will be a difficult window, thats for sure. Maybe he's just playing his cards close to his chest but its slightly corncerning that he refers to bringing in maybe 1 or 2 and having to be creative. Make of that what you will.

I genuinely do not believe we have any more cash to spend on wages etc. From what I believe we are back to having to sell players to bring any in.

Would like anyone with any insight into the rules to clarify this one, I’m genuinely unsure.

Was he two yards away from the thrower? I think that is the rule.

As I noted, it is one example of being 'creative'. And point (a) isn't at odds with that statement if the player opts to join another club (thus end their contract early and sign a new one elsewhere) in order to get game time. Either that, or they sit still and earn for a year and then have no one interested in them at the end of that contract because they've sat around for a year and played with only the boys team. It's in a youngish players interests to be on the park for exposure, not sitting stealing a wage at an average club for a year or so. Contracts work both ways.

Yeah because that kind of treatment of current players will really attract new players to the club.

In the 6 games Burton have played this season Moult has played a total of 65 minutes.  On that basis he can’t possibly be match fit so it may be some time before we see him playing.

Yep, lets give the guy some time to bed in, get him up to team fitness and then work on match fitness. Get some bounce games and 10-15 minute cameos with the first team.

Morris is utter shite, McGinn is a good signing but means we are paying SOD a healthy wage to sit on the bench and Arrons is a known quantity who's crossing is still horrendous. Going back further extending McGinley is still mystifying.

Now we are apparently going to make a song and dance about bringing in a striker with the worst injury record in the UK.

Aarons has hardly kicked a ball in a year and your criticising his crossing ability from a 20 minute debut...seriously....!!

SOD is getting what we pay him so what...he will be needed over the course of the season. Should we pay SOD off and get rid then bring in someone who is not so good just so you feel better about what we are paying them?.

As for the striker? who knows who it is if it is indeed Moult. I am sure the club will ensure he will have passed a medical before he signs for us. There is a process and hardly a song and dance.

You really make mountains out of mole hills.

Yes I was at the game so wind yer neck in.  My remarks were meant to be constructive and anyway they were factually correct.

Maybe the name of this site should be changed to Pravda because it seems if you dare to post anything even vaguely critical on it you just get pilloried?  Everybody is entitled to express their views whether you like, agree or disagree with them.

It was a ridiculous comment and your constant doom mongering is getting tiresome and predictably boring. 4-0 at home and your still having a dig...some people are never bloody happy. Give it a rest and enjoy the performance and win for a change.

Of course none of us wanted Celtic in the next round but let's just enjoy the fact we dealt with what could have been a banana skin with ease. Four players made their debut, Tierney and Efford contributed, all good stuff...

I would go as far to say both had their best game for the club tonight. Tierney was a delight to watch always going forward and his passes were superb. Unlucky not to score near the end. Efford put in a shift on the right and his crosses into the box were all good. He was very effective in that role.

Goss was as comfortable as I have seen him and bossed the midfield along with Slattery who was breaking up play and at one point rode three challenges in midfield coming away with the ball.

Penney on left was comfortable as well and had a great run in 2nd half with a great pass that deserved a decent effort on goal. Aarons also just needed to sneeze on the ball from a ball played across the face of goal from Van Veen to get a goal with his first touch. Young Lennon Miller did not look out of place in the central midfield role when he came on and he is still only 16..!!

Good result absolutely no doubt. My only gripe (again) is that only one of our 4 goals came  from open play and if Van Veen doesn’t score we’re shafted.

This is an absolutely terrible comment...Did you actually go to the game?.. We created lots of chances, lots of one touch football and free flowing stuff all over the park...ball was pinged about on the deck all over the place. Efford probably had his best game for us on the right. Tierney was unplayable and Goss was spraying great passes all over the park. Defence were outstanding when called upon and mopped everything up. Even under pressure they didn't punt it up the park and played the ball on the deck out of bother. I have no problems about where the goals come from as the players were breaking their neck to get in about the goals and were just unlucky not to score.

Aye and Slattery was rated at Southampton and God knows why. No better than Grimshaw. He is nearly 24 and only played 46  games and 31 are for us. Also Moult and Aldred were playing regularly and were at least match fit and not prone to injury. Like McInstry people are saying why is he not playing. It's obvious he is not fit enough. Hasn't even made the bench. If I am wrong with that then no doubt someone will correct  me. First thing any club does with a new signing is test their fitness to actually play. Play an unfit player and he will get injured.

McKinstry was injured, picked up in training . He was not included as a precautionary measure. He will feature again this week
