I guess that's all we can do on here until the club sign some more players..Then we can all complain about how shite they probably are in comparison to the person they most likely replaced..
-
I agree, I think it is down to the market just now with so many free players but it still shouldn't stop us trying to bring in sellable assets. Just because the market at present is flat doesn't mean we shouldn't plan for the future by looking for these type of players rather than looking at guys who have no sell on value i.e Sutton. I see no benefits in signing him. I think Stuart McCall himself said he was getting loads of calls from agents and videos being sent in about players and if that's true he may have a lot of options and needs time to evaluate who he can bring in to improve the squad AND crucially sell on if we can get a buyer. We have also benefited with the Bosman by signing all those players and therefore getting some extra prize money by finishing in the top 6 the last few years and getting into Europe. We can't complain if those same players then leave using the same method but served the club well. I include Sutton in that, but don't want the club to re-sign him as I don't think he will make the club any money if anything I think he will eat up too much in wages.

but how does that equate to saying " guessing that he hasn't looked at getting free sellable assets"
-
Where did I say that..??
-
lol..now thats just plain old guessing to support your argument.
-
Nope, only defending the guys right to have their opinion and so should you, just because theirs is different you don't have to go over the top saying maybe we should sell everyone who has come back. We all see things differently. Yep my opinion is we shouldn't take him back and should build for the future with players we could get a return on. As such I do not believe that the club would get a future sale on Sutton. At the end of the day we are a selling club and its the only thing we can do to survive by bringing players in we can sell on. Ojamma done that for us whilst more lucrative players moved under freedom of contract, as Sutton previously done. That is my reasons nothing to do with him being lazy or shite. I just think we should invest in players we can get a return on.

Nothing like taking it too far...guys are only expressing their opinions.
-
I am not criticising Sutton, but he had his time here, He chose to move on, end off. Lets look for players we can sell on and get the club some cash in the future.
-
100% agree. Sutton had his time here, done ok, however, I agree we need to look elsewhere.
-
Nothing else to talk about as no sign of any players yet, ye cannae blame people for gap filling meantime..
-
Maybe the club are listening and learning lessons..too much for some on here to believe but that would be a welcome change. Yes, we could get stung with a crap player or someone out injured long term, however it may give us some room for maneuver when it comes to selling someone on and the club don't need to accept the usual paltry offers. Would be nice if true, I shall await the official announcement with interest. Really excited and nervous about who we will bring in and how we will set up next season. Gonna be a busy few weeks at the 'Ark.

Do we have any players left to sponsor..??

and thats the whole point Shaka, we can only afford the size of squad and wages we can sustain through our income and for a club our size and fanbase thats not a hell of a lot of money. SO we are cutting our cloth accordingly to survive. We have had a great last few years but we cannot afford to pay for the good quality players we have seen the last few years and no doubt we will be a bottom six club as basically that's the level that we can sustain. It's realistic and no bad thing. My main concern is that with so many first team players leaving that even if we replace every single player the heart of the team has gone and the squad mentality and team spirit will have to be rebuilt very quickly.

Would suprise me if anyone is signed before the Gaffer is back from International duties at the weekend. Monday at the earliest I would imagine, unless he has left a list of people he wants. It will basically be down to the club and the agents to wrangle about wages etc and not something Stuart McCall would have much control over. An exciting close season ahead and I pray I am not underwhelmed by the signings. The first was a decent signing in Lawson I hope that continues. Do you think we will sign those similar to what we had in style of play rather than quality..i.e speedsters on the wings or will McCall try something different next season due to the squad limitations?.
-
I didn't think I criticised anything you said Grew..did I..?? If I did I apologise I was merely trying to lift the perpetual doom and gloom some on here continually spout..I full applaud anyone who has an opinion and they are entitled to it just some on here who don't want me to express mine because it doesn't suit theirs...if that makes sense.
-
Yep, absolutely Melvin, to think he begged McCall to be given a chance to play and was basically given bus fare as wages, yet he is the only one leaving so far that has got us some cash.
-
That tickled me..I can just see the team photograph for the new season won't be a who's who but more a who's that. Also can see the free kick wall being used to make up the numbers in the photo.
