  1. Exactly, when a team in the SPL (Motherwell) famously caused a stink at the costs of Ravenscraig what chance have the grass roots players. It might as well be situated on the moon for all the chance local kids will ever get to play on it. Elite facilities for elite teams. The funding should be taken from the SPL prize money to resurface every amateur ground in the country and allow the teams to play on it for free. It might take a good few years to get round them all but our game has been in decline for so many generation what is one more to wait. Or an even more drastic idea that companies like SKY include it as part of their TV deal, now that would be ground breaking. Could you see Peter Lawell etc putting that forward, less cash for them and more for the grass roots. Also can't see why private companies cannot 'sponsor' to pay for a local park to be resurfaced. Then get their company named after the park. I could see Asda and Tesco type companies getting involved. Also introduce tax incentives like they do for charities for companies willing to commit the cash to improve the parks, but then no doubt the politicians won't like that idea. Also, and I am really grasping at straws here but what about those taking the most money out of football, The £6,000 a week and more football players and their agents. Now the thought of those leeches putting something back into the sport that they have taken so much from would be outstanding.
  2. Would love all that to happen but I can't think beyond the idiot fans who will ruin it for the rest of us. Those that can't handle a couple of beers and start boxing. They get the jail and then its all scrapped again by the authorities. Revenue stream gone because of the minority idiots. For whatever reason Rugby fans enjoy this without the idiots and have no issues but it seems football cannot follow. Dunno what we can do to change that. The idea of teams relying on players that are born and bred at the club is brilliant and I have always felt more affinity to those players than the loans and 2 year passing through players.
  3. Aye, but it could lead to the demise of the team I support, so they can fuck right off with risk taking, I remember the last time we spent money to get us higher up the table and it almost cost us the club then.
  4. If true then that is really shocking to me. In a league as close as ours, outwith the old firm, budgeting for anything other than an 11th place finish and first round knockouts in the Cups is asking for trouble. There is no bloody way any club outwith the old firm can budget that way. We are in no position with our playing squad being so small and our small and dwindling fan base that we should be budgeting for so high in the league as I said that is financial suicide.
  5. Why the hell are we budgeting for a top six finish...that is suicidal financing. Common sense would dictate budgeting for 11th place and knockouts in the first round of the cups. That way anything else is a bonus. I can understand budgeting for selling a player each season but if you are selling arguably our best player every season for bloody pocket change then the mind boggles. Again I cannot rely on what we budget for as I can't see anything official and its all guesswork by the looks of it.
  6. Without a shadow of doubt this has been the one and only REAL concern for the SPL including our club. However as previously stated I await to hear the reasoning behind the decision to support the proposals. If it is anything other than the above i will be shocked to the core. Most of our money comes from the TV deal without it we are dead. We cannot sustain the first team wages on season ticket and gate money alone. No matter how much cloth we cut we would never survive without it, without TV money and even moving to part time football the wages of the club players, staff, etc and all the stadium upkeep costs will still be huge. The £400k would be gone in half a season.
  7. I feel your pain mate, I really do. Yes you can express a 'general view' but no one other than the club has any idea why they favour this system, so any views made prior to the club consultation is just conjecture and add to the dubious views already supplied by most of the media. So wait and see what they have to say and If you don't like it, then stand up and make your views known but you cannot make any judgement on how the club should be run on emotions mate that is the road to disaster for this club.
  8. Think some on here are, as always, getting carried away with themselves. Nethertonwell you are normally very calm posting on here and don't normally resort to emotional posts but I sense a lot of emotion in your post, nothing wrong with that per se. However, the club has made an official statement that they will consult with Well Society members as they said they would do all along. They favour the system none of the fans do and it is up to them to sell this to the members. It is then down to the members having heard the clubs reasons to then and not before, make a judgement on the benefits and weaknesses of the system that the club favour. So please, give them a break, listen to what they have to say and then make a reasoned debate and comment then. I know a lot of people have invested a lot of hard earned cash they couldn't really afford into the club they love and feel let down if they thought the club was making monumental decisions regarding the clubs future without consultation, but that's not happened, jumping the gun a wee bit and we need to count to ten and take a deep breath. We are too quick on here to start berating the club when we get spurious info from sources without the benefit of an official club source etc. Lets not get involved in digs at the club and its directors without the full details which will be forthcoming from the club in due course. Patience folks, calm down.
  9. Hopefully the board is thinking of an incentive to some of the players that if we finish 2nd then that will be rewarded with a slightly higher wage offer from the increased prize fund.
  10. One for the boo boys to welcome him "Your shite bring back Murphy" or "Your only a poor man's Murphy" make him feel part of the family..!!
  11. MJC started the thread..thats all I need to say that it's a pile of horse shit and I haven't even read his opening post
  12. lol minus repped by a delusional fan..
  13. We can debate this until the cows come home...It ain't happening...If we had to cut our wage budget by £250K this season we don't have two pennies to rub together. There is no knight in shining armour coming to buy any proposed land or lend it to us or just buy a stadium for us. The club is being handed to the fans for basically £250k with no cash surplus to buy a new kettle never mind a stadium. Big dose of realism required and if anything we need every penny we can get to stay afloat as this recession is biting deep and with power bills getting increased then thats another increase in expenditure the club doesn't need. I feel sorry for those running the club and the balancing act they have to do with sometimes ultra unrealistic fans who want instant success using buttons and they want it yesterday with no excuses. We are a mid to bottom end SPL club and always will be, some seasons we will be top six other years bottom six and one season a decade maybe fighting relegation. Thats what we will be looking at in the next 5-10 years IF we remain tight with the cash and sell a few players.
  14. I sometimes defend you but that is the most retarded defence against all the facts I have ever witnessed, you are truly obsessed and you really need to get a life.
  15. lol wrong again, you can rephrase all you want..The issue was a power cut in the general area of Fir Park which caused a power cut in the ground. This then led the generators to start up automatically (blue smoke) to provide emergency power. This power is limited to EMERGENCY lighting etc...getting through to you yet..The generators worked perfectly well. The fault lies with whatever energy supplier cut the power.
  16. Rickoza don't let the facts get in the way of an MJC paranoid rant
  17. Can I have some of th drugs you are on when I watch our next game, they are brilliant if thats what you are seeing and thinking..
  18. Problem is the team morale is rock bottom, the back line couldn't defend against a schoolboy team and if it wasn't for Randy we would have had a cricket score today. The fans have had their faith in McCall's management abilities dented. So these next three games will definitely shape the season. It's now totally up to how McCall and the team respond both mentally and tactically from the 'Old Firm' mauling.
  19. Bollocks...the fans have every right to be raging at McCall. A Manager, no matter where he played before, his primary job is to put a winning team on the park and promote the club to its fans. He done more for the Rangers cause in that last game than McCoist done. His pre and post match conference were a joke and that extends to the board. Time for McCall to concentrate on the huge defensive frailties we have re short corners and marking and get a replacement in the centre of the park. Concetrate on winning games for Motherwell not talking up everything Rangers.
  20. Is this thread still going..? .FFS..Answer is No, should have been closed after the first response...
  21. Wonder if there are odds on a bet for a team to refuse to come out the tunnel because they are so scared..maybe worth a punt on Saturday..
  22. Have we to complete the sentence..?? Is McCall now a great......
