  1. League 2 isn't exactly the greatest level but the Plymouth fans on twitter seem to have rated him pretty highly. Fingers crossed. He is a good age at 23 as well.
  2. Looking forward to this, as people have said hopefully we get good numbers for Sevco at home. Hoping for an intense atmosphere and a comfortable win. Delighted that the police/SFA haven't changed the kick off time, I thought with this being 3pm on a Saturday at Fir Park in July (in the fair) we would be subject to a change. I think this should add to the atmosphere which overall i think can be affected by the usual 12:30 kick offs. Annan should be a good away day too.
  3. Why are Smeltic and other teams looking to implement then? Don't get me wrong I think there are too many safety rules but I'm unsure if the governing body/authorities actually believe fans standing at seated areas is safe. For many years there was a battle between stewards and fans regarding this. Not sure what has changed between then and now to make what we have categorised as 'safe standing' or if it more likely a compromise between fans groups and our own club.
  4. Had a look about and couldn't see anything posted regarding this recently so was just curious.. Has anyone 'in the know' heard anything recently about a safe standing section being introduced at Fir Park? Just seen an article on the BBC confirming that Celtic are introducing a section for around 3k next season. From previous articles I've always heard the club have been very receptive to the idea and I seen us as being the next in line to implement this after Celtic. I acknowledge a compromise seems to have been made with the club in that the last few sections of the east stand are allowed to stand but surely a more permanent structure would only add to the atmosphere/experience? The obvious drawbacks for this I guess would be having the money to physically install the safe standing equipment not sure how much this costs in comparison with standard seating? My feeling is that if the last 2/3 sections were converted to safe standing a lot more folk on here would buy a season book (perhaps at a reduced rate) in order to ensure they get a place within the new section. I appreciate not everyone wants to stand but with the younger guys that already do and many older guys who want to relive the days of the terrace experience I think we could easily fill a section with season tickets. Overall I think this could add a wee bit of vibrancy to proceedings for the new season.
  5. Looking forward to the game on Saturday, if we get anything on Saturday it will be a bonus especially after our display at Tynecastle which I appreciate is miles away from where we are now. Hearts are a quality side, I sincerly think if they acquire 3/4 quality players they could mount a title challenge next year. Anyway enough about them.. I want us to do something similar to the second half against Celtic, we need to press them and not sit too deep. I firmly believe we need to get away from this mentality of sitting in and inviting pressure like we did in the first half against Celtic and in a few other games. I would like a few young boys to be blooded, Leitch and Watt are who I would introduce. Not fully up-to-date with injuries but I would go for something similar to the below; Ripley Watt Kennedy McManus Hammell Cadden Leith Lasley/Pearson* Johnson McDonald Moult *Whoever is fit if any? Anything is a bonus at this point in the season, I for one had us relegated a few months ago so I'm just going to enjoy the rest of the season. For me, we need to try and secure 4th spot but also try and blood as many youngsters as we can (within reason). I think McGhee also needs to make up his mind what we are going to do with Lionel Ainsworth, IMO he is our most talented player on his day and we either have to find a way to fit him into our system or get coming off the bench to make a substantial impact. I think part of this is obviously on Lionel as his limited appearances haven't been dazzling as of late. Hearts have nothing to play for now so I'm going to go for a 2-2 draw.
  6. Aye, I think it would be really encouraging if we can get some of these young lads included in the first team given our position. Ideally I would try and give Leitch and Thomas more of a run of games. As much as I haven't been a huge fan of either I don't think they have had enough match time to be fully judge. Thomas in particular seems to be talented but in my book he's not had enough end product coming off the bench. Leitch could be soon falling into a Carswell category but the last few appearances he has done better. As folk have mentioned if we can give them some games over the next few matches we can say for certain where they are, if they don't break in by early next season I would be looking to give other boys a chance. I'd also like to think there is a right back perhaps Watt who can be given a chance ahead of Law, who in my opinion has cost us a high amount of goals in the last few seasons. Regardless of the above two real positives have come out from our youth system this season in the shape of Hall and Cadden. It just shows sometimes that when you give youth a chance you might be rewarded.
  7. As a few have mentioned it would be nice if given the run we are on we came out in numbers on Saturday. I think the team deserve it. I understand some of the arguments people have for not coming out against the Old Firm but hopefully a few of these folk will think twice about it and come along. With a vocal support behind us I honestly think we can get a result on Saturday. Although Celtic were clinical I thought Hearts controlled the game for large periods at the weekend, the Kilmarnock game was a similar story. I wouldn't try and play fancy football against Celtic, I would try and keep it stuffy. Fire balls into the box and catch them on break. Celtic are a very average team, at the back in particular I think they are weak. Mon the well'
  8. Thought the performance on Saturday was terrific, contrary to what McGhee said I thought we done well in the first half too all things considered. I was wary of Leitch playing with Gomis in the middle however I thought they done really good against a team with Aberdeen's quality. RIpley kept us in it, some of his shot stopping was very strong. Special mention to Kennedy who I thought added a bit of solidity to proceedings, Ben Hall has been doing well as of late but I think in the air he has been a bit suspect (appreciate he is only young) I thought Kennedy was better in this respect. Also for all his moaning and 5 offsides a game I think Skippy has been tremendous lately and has really showed his experience. I was one of those who thought we should consider McGhee's position not so long ago and am happy to admit to being wrong, hats up off to him and team for turning things round. With the current attitude and performances I am confident we can get a result against Inverness and Celtic. Celtic in particular are there for the taking at Fir Park, they were horrendously bad against Killie.
  9. This is a real blow, thought we might have had a chance of getting something against them. I can see Aberdeen rejecting our proposal to postpone and can't really blame them given their current situation. Wonder if the SPFL can/will step in?
  10. I would give all of them one year deal, Lasley in particular has proved me wrong year after year so I think he can still play a significant amount of games. Hammell has lost a step but still had it in him to perform. McManus for all his flaws his still an experienced head at the back and his aerial ability is good. We should use the next year to try and establish young replacements for these guys. I think we could have someone coming through the ranks in Hall that could replace McManus relatively equally albeit he needs a partner. Would be nice to see someone at left back pushing from the U20 squad, Lasley however will be a lot more difficult to replace.
  11. I understand the points regarding using the team we played again them at tannadice however I'd like to keep the same 11 as Saturday, I am more than confident they have enough to beat this united side and I don't think we need to fiddle about with formations in order to beat them. Laing is playing pretty well at right back so hopefully he adds solidity meaning we don't need to drop to a 3 at the back. I'm confident after the desire to win we have shown the past few week. Partick and Killie both have the top two over the weekend and so I'm hopeful we can get a win here which will create a further gap. A win here would be really crucial, our next 2 games are going to be difficult to get anything from so we want to create a gap before this point. All in all if we have the same desire we showed at accies i think we can do it, mon the well!
  12. Hats off to the boys for Saturday, the second half wasn't pretty but they got the job done. I thought some of the passing moves were tremdendous particulary in the first half. Special mentions go to McDonald and McManus, also thought Moult as usual worked so hard for the team. Cadden also looked bright at points.. Only negatives for me and this is probably nitpicking, Ripley lacked confidence, likely after last week. Hall seemed to be getting out jumped for the majority. The good thing is these are both still very young players and the fact they came through this is very encouraging. I was surprised when McGhee decided to put Kennedy on at the end and thought we were sitting in far too much but I guess he was proved right in his decision.
  13. Fitzpatrick at Easter Road. One of my favourite Motherwell memories of being a youngster. It felt like he had an enormous support through in Edinburgh through for that game but not sure if its the nostalgia!
  14. That apart obviously. He hasn't been playing to his potential as of late. His crossing has been horrendous, he is capable of much more.
  15. I'm confident we can get a result on Saturday despite recent disappointments at NDP. I thought they were rank at New Year and we should have beaten them easily. I would go with exactly the same team as the weekend, tempted to include Ainsworth given Marvin's lack of form recently but I would keep Marv in defensive tracking back. Hopefully we will bring a good crowd on Saturday and fill the majority of the stand willing us on to victory. If we do get a win I would bet us to get a result against United on Friday and hopefully this should create a bit of breathing space between us and Killie/Hamilton. As a couple of people have mentioned I think Accies team might be oot this year, never been very impressed with them recently apart from some moments of individual brillance.
  16. Thought the game on Saturday was pretty dull, typical fight between relegation candidates. Nonetheless I was more than happy with our win, didn't matter how ugly it was going to be he just simply had to get the result on Saturday. I thought this was more a consequence of the teams league positions rather than our performance which i thought was largely good. Main plus points for me were; Louis Laing, I think he was absolutely outstanding. Seen someone mentioned he was 'clunky' at right back but I thought the opposite. Some of his offensive running and passing up the line was exceptional. He does the basics right as a defender too. I've always rated Laing he is still relatively young, he just needs to cut out his mistakes and I think he could be a real talent as he gains more experience. Louis Moult, Tremendous performance. He is consistently one of our top performers and it is not just his goal scoring ability. His willingness to chase every ball and track back when required is a joy to be seen. Really encouraging to see someone who appears to care as much as the fans, his reaction to scoring the penalty showed this. I'll be the first to admit i initially had my doubts about him but I think he is well on his way to being a really top player with us. I thought as a team we looked a lot more solid generally and seemed to be really fighting for the win which all we can ask for as fans. Big game on Saturday, need a result again. If we can win it would make a real difference to our season and hopefully we can push on from there.
  17. Nothing to add regarding this specifically but I do find i was just thinking recently that its slightly odd the excessive amount of signings we made last year and the lack of signings we made this January given our league position and clearout. I've had heard some mention we are in slight financial trouble not sure if its true or not but I find it strange given that Hutchison is a billionaire.
  18. Brillant post regarding assists. Most startling is Marvin Johnson. Ainsworth shown to be more of an impactful players despite the lack of starts. Granted they have both been pish recently. Saturday is massive, must win. Our next 3 games are must win. If we win these it could effectively transfer things. Hoping for a decent crowd on Saturday and an early goal which would do us the world of good. Despite some protesting otherwise we have been shite in every game recently apart from the Dundee Utd win. McGhee may well say otherwise but we all know this team can do better. Ripley Laing McManus Hall Hammell Johnston Gomis Lasley Cadden McDonald Moult Again perfect by no means, could make an argument for a few being dropped. I'm just not convinced by the 3-5-2
  19. Can look at things from both ways to be honest.. if we get relegated we will lose large amounts of money. Perhaps investing more in the team would have been worthwhile to stay up but I suppose we won't know until May. Take your point though
  20. Kind of avoided discussing the game since Saturday as I was absolutely scunnered leaving Perth. I find the whole argument between those blaming McGhee and those blaming the players tedious. BOTH are to blame for the mess we are currently in and anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves on. There also seems to be some online criticising fans for getting on the teams back at games, whilst i want fans to be as positive as possible sometimes it is necessary for fans to vent. I don't prescribe to the happy clapping routine having sat through folk doing the same last year claiming 'everything was okay'. Main points from Saturday; McGhee saying we played fine, very worrying. Moult is the only guy showing real desire to chase every ball. Ripley had a shocker in terms of distrubution and the first goal. Pearson seems to have been out of sorts for the last few weeks. Johnston done hee haw... Also the lack of activity in January is looking like a huge error of judgement We need to win on Saturday.
  21. The longer this week goes on the more massive this game feels. A win could really change our season going forward in a big way. A draw wouldn't be the end of the world but I think we are capable of getting a result. The team is a real struggle to pick to be honest. I would go with; Ripley Laing Hall McManus Hammell Johnston Lasley Gomis Cadden McFadden Moult I agree people can probably pick holes in the above but I think we could do that with any team named at the moment. Pearson needs a rest and whilst I realise Gomis and Lasley are similar players, I think we are better with two holding type guys in this game. Cadden & Marv can offer legs from the wing. As for Laing at right back, I would rather play him slightly out of position than play Josh Law there. I'm interested to see how Faddy would play in behind Moult instead of Skippy. I didn't see the gam during the week but I think in previous games Skippy hasn't been as good as some have made out. Looking forward to tomorrow Mon the well'
  22. Really struggling to arrive at a prefered line up for this given the massive changes last night. As mentioned I think we lined up this way specfically for Dundee Utd and I can't see McGhee doing this again. The question I would pose is why change a winning formula however you have to temper this by remembering who we were playing against. A really big headache for the manager but regardless I hope the team/formation selected is not the same as the team who performed so poorly in the last two home matches. We need to find a way to get the likes of Laing, Hall, McFadden and Moult in the team. I am hopeful we will bring a sizeable support on Saturday with a positive mindset off the back of the win last night. The importance of the next 4 games cannot be emphasised enough and could be make or break, all are winnable. I think we need to look to be getting atleast 7 points. In saying that if we win on Saturday I am hopeful we could go on some sort of run. St Johnstone (A) Partick (H) Hamilton (A) Dundee Utd (H)
  23. Anyone got any idea of any reliable sources for a live stream for tonight? I was under the false impression it was on sky sports..
  24. It's actually a struggle to even name 11 guys after Saturday. I would like to drop McManus but unfortunately we don't have anyone with the appropriate experience to play in his position. As much as Kennedy has been OK with basic defending i thought his distribution and control on Saturday was appalling. I'd bring in Laing for this reason, I don't think he is as bad as some have made out. Rest of the team pretty much has to be a given and a 4-4-2 needs to implemented.I was really disappointed with Ainsworth on Saturday and as much as Johnson has been average I don't think Ainsworth or Thomas have done enough to take his place. Ripley Law Laing McManus Hammell Cadden Lasley Gomis Johnson Moult McDonald I think the lack of options both at the back and up top puts into question what we were doing in the transfer window? hee haw. This is a must win for me, as much as McGhee suggested in his interview that he would be happy with a draw. A loss is unthinkable and should result in him resigning.
