  1. It will be interesting to see if this deal actually happens. This has been rumoured for the last few years at various points but for whatever reason hasn't happened. I could have seen McGhee wanting him but it doesn't seem to fit into the Robinson mould as others have alluded to. Never been a huge fan but I would maybe take him if a loan offer is going. Cifti has a wee bit of a record of scoring goals with Utd (but nothing very prolific) although, this was also many moons ago. In saying that, there is obviously untapped potential there, he will have a technical ability that a lot of the guys we are looking at from down south will not possess. It's a fair risk relying on Cifti and Main to get anywhere near the amount of goals Moult got for us. I genuinely thought we would have more concrete replacements lined up. As a few have mentioned, we aren't going to get strikers in who have scored 15+ goals this season from any decent level but I would have thought guys who had atleast some sort of decent contribution in the last few years would have been a possibility. If we are sniffing around Cifti I suspect our options are pretty limited

  2. Grew up with Stevie Hammell in the team, he has been an ever present apart from his brief hiatus down south. With the ball at his feet he was better than most defenders at this level. Legit club legend.

I'm really happy with the policy of promoting within. I hope we continue to do this. It gives us an identity as a club and keeps a good ethos.

  3. Will assume you are taking the piss but if not can you explain why you think such a player would 1 be available and 2 want to come to Motherwell if he was.

My expectations of what we can attract is pretty low but even then I expect we replace Moult with someone with a decent goal scoring record. Forgive me if a guy scoring 5 goals in 60 for Darlington doesn't get the juices flowing. This guy could sign and turn out to be the next Louis Moult but as a fan the only thing we have to go on with players we don't know from Adam is previous clubs fans and statistics. Both of which are pretty bad if you have actually have a look.

Not asking the club to move mountains here, all I am saying is we should be looking to sign someone with a good record and a decent upside. This notion that we are unable to sign anyone with either of the above is absolute nonsense. Granted it will normally be from a lower level probably but these players are there. Hopefully we have a couple of others signings up our sleeve.

  4. Total disaster of a result today. Team have completely bottled it since the Willie Collum decision against Celtic at Fir Park. Same thing happened post 4-3 last season. Confidence shot and we haven't kicked a ball since.

We need to reinvest a good percentage of the Moult money on new player wages or small fees. Bringing in another Ryan Bowman or Alex Fisher isn't going to cut it. Ross County who are bottom of the league have a sugar daddy so you can guarantee they will be investing heavily.

We need to bring in someone with a decent goalscoring record, a poacher. Someone that will finish crosses in the box and score taps in.

As well as this we need another forward with a bit of finesse that will chip in with goals.

We also need another centre back and a full back.

If we can, I would be looking to move on a few. Fisher the obvious candidate. Griffiths can go. Reluctant to say Bowman but it's looking that way. He offers zero without Moult. Technically he is very poor. There's a few others who I would consider moving if we could get a fee for. The ability of some of our summer signings is being found out. A lot of these guys are physically good but struggle to play a few passes between them.

Questions need to be asked of Robinson. He deserves time and money to bring in bodies in January but things need to be turned around very quickly. I am sceptical of some of his tactics and I feel like the rest of the league seem to know how to play against us now. We seem to have a different formation and line up every week

  5. Interested to see what kind of strikers Robinson has lined up. Last few interviews he seems to have mentioned targeting guys in the lower leagues of Scotland. Previously we more or less exclusively recruited from League 1, 2 and Conference. Sounds like we might be widening the net somewhat, I've been keen on this for a while now. For every dud in the lower reaches of Scotland there is a Lewis Morgan waiting to be uncovered. Just like down south for every Jacob Blyth there is a Louis Moult.

There is some decent players in the championship here but it's mainly just down to good scouting and a slice of luck. Price tags are perhaps a bit higher but there is still guys there who are affordable with potential.

Another untapped resource is abroad. Accies have a lower wage build than us and manage to attract guys from a decent level. Not saying I'd jump at any of their guys but would like to see us looking far and wide. I've had the impression for a while now that we essentially are working off a few scouts in a select few leagues.

I've got faith in Robinson and our chief scouts for the most part. You are always going to have a mixed bag recruitment wise but we need to recruit a decent quality of striker this window. A Ryan Bowman esq signing isnt going to cut it

  6. Give big Alex a break. Needs a run of games. I remember higdon and bowman getting pelters and they came good.

I've tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt but I really don't see it. Toothless

  7. I think we are somewhere in the middle. By no means is it time to question the managers position but the 'we will avoid relegation' chat is boring. Whilst this is true folk are still allowed to criticize this horrific run of form. Especially when we know the players are capable of more.

A frank and honest interview from Robinson, fair play to him. We will look to bring in a couple of strikers and a defender hopefully because the guys we have just now aren't doing it.

I thought we were fine in the first half tonight tbh, we done well at times. Make no mistake though, Rangers are shocking. They were playing two youth team centre mids. Unfortunately any chances we did have we bottled it. Fisher's the main one.

As Robinson said, someone had to step up to the plate and they haven't the last run of games. I hope we have a decent quality of player lined up because it's clear Bowman and Fisher aren't cutting it up front

  8. Thought we were lucky to get anything at all today. We have zero going forward without Moult up front. Tanner is decent but needs someone to play off him. Bowman looks a shell of a player post Moult. We never really looked like scoring from open play. I'm not really sure what our attacking game plan is just now. Previously it was mainly being direct and getting balls in the box but any balls we now do play there is noone there to connect with him.

Christmas list: Replacement for Moult, another attacking option and another defender.

  9. Consideration to moving the last section of the east to accommodate police and away fans is embarrassing. Surely the club has learned it's lessons with the impact of moving fans? I'm surprised folk on here are actually giving it the time of day tbh.

Clearly the atmosphere wouldn't be 'moved' to the other end of the stand. The atmosphere is generated by the close proximity of the home and away fans. This is the reason why when away fans are not there or housed at the back of the south stand the atmosphere is generally not as good.

There is many folk with season tickets in this section unattached to any group who have either stood there for years or do so for the atmosphere. Trying to move fans like this would be suicidal. We are supposed to gaining more fans not driving them away. Police Scotland's flawed over policing of the game in this country is thankfully going to come to an end soon, let's not drive more folk away from the football. Folk that are guilty of nothing over than trying to create an atmosphere

  10. I've got faith in the club given recent recruitment but I really do hope we push the boat out financially. We are always going to be signing players with potential but I'd like to see someone with at least a decent goal record coming in. Surely we are now in a position to pay a couple of hundred thousand and a decent wage? Not saying money equals success but still means we can bring in a more rounded player. Let's reinvest rather than trying to pull another rabbit out the hat. A similar investment as Moults deal coming in needs to be done.

  11. I thought we were absolutely rotten today. Make no mistake, Hearts are complete dross and we made them look like they could play football at times. Overall there was zero quality in that game.

We completely played into Levein's grubby hands by launching long high aimless balls. I get that we have had some success this year from being direct but not like that. We resembled a team with no quality and barely seen us string a few passes together. We are much better than that and I'd like to see us play a lot more football at times.

The main concern for me was the lack of any focal point up front. Fisher and Bowman were poor, Ryan looked a bit lost without Moult to play off of. At no point in the game did I think we even looked like scoring.

Very few would get pass marks. Tait has been a big concern for me lately, I genuinely think we need to look at an alternative. I was disappointed to see the fringe guys not step up to the plate, I thought Demi and Bigi looked off. Fisher likewise. We need to work out what the team looks like with life after and without Moult because today we didn't look like we knew what our plan was offensively

Good game for us to put things right on Wednesday. Partick Thistle are not in good form so let's hope we can get back to winning ways.

  12. Big blow with Moult and Hartley being out but this gives others opportunities to step up to the plate. There's a fair few guys who haven't done much wrong but just haven't had a chance given how well the team has been playing for the majority of the season. Let's hope tomorrow can see the emergence of some of these guys.

In terms of team selection, I still don't think we have the players to go 4 at the back consistently. I suspect this was more to deal with Aberdeen and Celtic in the last few weeks.

    I'd go back to 3-5-2

    Carson

    Kipre McHugh Dunne

    Cadden Rose Campbell Bigi Petravicius

    Bowman Fisher

I'd like to see us go very direct tomorrow, get the ball wide and pump it in the box for Fisher and Bowman. With the diamond style shape we have played recently I think we have lost a lot from Cadden playing through the middle. Give the ball to Cadden and Demi and let them pump balls into the box and use their pace in the wide areas. Hearts are pretty shocking and their fullbacks in particular are horrendous. I must admit I have been very impresed by Demi in the last few games and think we could be on to a real find. I am interested to see what happens with Bigi, it hasn't really happened for him the way some predicted but I think he has a lot in his locker, would like to see him given a chance. I think we lacked a bit of technical ability in the middle of the park the last few weeks. Really looking forward to this one, hopefully we can get back to winning ways.

  13. Sounds like the club wouldn't mind getting rid of Moult in January from Robinson's presser today (if the right offer comes in) I would be up for hanging on to him but I think if we get a bid of 500k'ish he will be away. Can't really blame the club for biting given his contract is up in the summer. Any less than this I think we should hang on to him.

Encouraging to see that we have targets already in the pipeline. Personally I can't see anyone moving on Cadden or Kipre at this stage. Still think they have a lot to learn here and need to progress a bit more. The positive thing is we have various sellable young assets in the team. A total turnaround from the rotting aging team Magoo had last year. The last few months have vindicated all the opinion about him last year, the job he was doing was absolutely shocking make no mistake about it.

In terms of activity I'd like to see a right back brought in if we are going to be regularly playing with a 4. Another option up front would be nice too. It's mental how far things have come compared to last year. Need to tip my hat to the job Robbo has done with rebuilding this team. Everyone on here identified a total clear out was needed and he has executed it almost perfectly, not a easy thing to do. I had reservations about a lot of his signings from the lower leagues in England but Robbo obviously knew the qualities they had. Total faith in him and the Chief Scout to find some more gems

  14. Went today against my better judgement and can't say it was enjoyable viewing..

I thought we were awful first half, didn't press and gave them far too much time on ball. Basically everything we done well Wednesday we didn't do today. Some of our defending on the wings was shocking too.

Robinson's changes at half time made a good impact. I was in favour of dropping McHugh for quite a few weeks but I think in hindsight we missed him in the first half. Perhaps he holds our midfield together a bit more than I gave him credit for. Frear was excellent from the bench and took his goal well. Demi also came on at half time and done well. I have high hopes for this boy, he is very quick and direct. I think we could have a player on our hands. I think the lads were very tired but some of the goals were far too easy. I'm hoping we revert to our usual 3 at the back next week as for me Tait and Dunne at full back aren't good enough at this level. Dunne in a three seems to do a bit better and Tait simply can't defend period. Overall disappointing afternoon but not disheartened. These boys have given us everything over the last few months and must say I've not been this proud to be a well fan in a while

  15. Wednesday was the angriest I have ever been at a football game (and that's saying something) I was watching McGregor closely before and during the incident and contrary to some clips filmed on a pizza he moved into Rose deliberately. I've no respect for him. Could go on about it all day but Brenda is controlling the game up here in more ways than one. Make no mistake, they are the Rangers of the past.

I had no intention of going tomorrow until I listened to Robinson and Campbell's press conference. It's not long ago we were listening to absolutely drivel from Magoo. What a real breath of fresh air these guys are. They are giving us a team to be proud of in more ways than one.

Given the amount of effort we put into these games, the financial advantage and the biased refereeing I can't see us winning tomorrow but regardless of this I feel compelled to go and support the team. I'm always of the argument we should be bringing at least 1k to both Glasgow grounds but I fully understand the reasons why folk don't go. This coupled with recent events I would be surprised to see over 200 but if you are on the fence I would encourage folk to go show the players our support. See at the end of the day Celtic are average this season, they aren't far ahead on points either. Let's go and sicken them

  16. I was never one for corruption theories however I think that Brenda now controls Scottish football. He is influencing the SFA via the media. The baw is officially burst. I have never been so angry at a football game in my life. Collum done that out of bias. Not incompetence, although he is that too.

I love robbo and get the reasons why he has stayed quiet but I genuinely think we need to stand up to this. Regardless of the consequences.

  17. There's so much that could be said after Sunday tbh. I was pleased with how solid we looked in the first half and there's not much you can do against refereeing like that. Brenda had the refs well warned after the Semi, it was so obvious at the time. One question I would pose is did we really play our own game on Sunday? Seemed like we tried to cancel them out but didn't have much of a direct attacking threat. Wonder if this is a consequence of playing against a better team or if Robinson really did change the team to suit Celtic. Either way, not a criticism. Just not sure we 'played our own game' as he said we would.

This is the perfect game for the players and fans. Everyone is justifiably raging at the decison that killed the game, I'm hoping this gives the players a chip on their shoulder. I want to see an aggressive performance from the players and a hostile atmosphere. I would be tempted to go back to 3 at the back and a have a proper go at them for the first half. Not a fan of Cadden through the middle, get the wingers back on and pump balls in for Moult. I would drop Grimshaw for Campbell, was surprised at his selection on Sunday despite a great showing in Aberdeen. The whole Bigi thing seems a bit weird to me. I get that we have a strong squad but think he should atleast be on the bench. I would be tempted to put him in tomorrow for McHugh to switch things up a bit. Still think that Bowman and Moult together is a better option than Tanner in behind.

Honestly never wanted to beat these ***** more than tomorrow. If we could get a win it would be glorious and somewhat soften the blow of Sunday
