  1. Are we trying to emulate the Labour Party with all this in-fighting ? The International break definitely brings out the worst on these forums. Why don't we all just stay up and watch Trump/Clinton, there's a masterclass in pot/kettle delusional bickering to give all you something to aspire to...
  2. A bit idealistic methinks, if you need a big job done, would you rather have it done by a group of first year apprentices, or by a time served tradesman who knows how to deal with virtually any eventuality. Assisted by a couple of seasoned labourers and perhaps an apprentice? Balance, that's the key to surviving and thriving The reality is that players from England's 5 th tier are the level we are at financially, and turning a decent profit from a sale each transfer window is more likely to be made from selling them back down south than trying to get large fees for Scottish youngsters. A harsh, but factual, economic truth I'm afraid
  3. blooding too many young players is a recipe for relegation . It's all about a blend ;- of youth and experience - of perspiration and inspiration - of assassins and artists - horses for courses - synonyms and antonyms
  4. Reminiscent of Old Rubber Legs himself. Joe would have been smiling down at that one...
  5. Tait for me. Hard time defensively , but his cross delivery and attacking play were quality.
  6. I remember being at Tynecastle and watching him doing a cracking Invisible Man impression every time a ball came into the box. An impostor, only game I can recall seeing him play, but it sticks in the mind.
  7. The problem is that "fans" have been just simply abandoning their teams for decades-Not for other teams, but other sports/ pastimes- the fact is the world has moved on, and football has just ploughed on regardless Evolve or die, see Mr Darwin for details. Cricket / rugby / cycling/ hockey - they constantly reinvent themselves, why should football be immune to it all? I'm pleased the club is looking to be innovative with the latest media/ marketing / fan engagement appointments
  8. I believe his contract provided a full pizza-crunch supper every time he scored, that'll be why he stayed fat
  9. They've clearly struggled to fill to massive void left by the departure of Tony Straker
  10. How dare we try to run a profitable business .
  11. How dare we try to run a profitable business .
  12. Cadden for me , tireless throughout, drove forward time and time again . Great possession and movement throughout . Thought Clay was outstanding for 60 minutes too, then tired badly, should've been subbed- what's the point of Lucas still being around if he isn't getting on?
  13. Samson - untroubled Tait - the odd wobble, but played the ball out rather than just heaving Chalmers - no pace, but again got on the ball and passed and moved well Heneghan - dominant in the air, crucial blocks at times. Happy to take the ball on at his feet McManus - composed , won his challenges. El Bakhthoui only skinned him once first half Clay - really impressive for 60 minutes. Won tackles, kept possession , interlinked well. Totally ran out of gas after that. Lasley - put himself about, paced himself better than Clay. Ainsworth - one good shot second half, just didn't do enough in the final third Johnson - played in bursts, did his share of tracking back, work rate impressed, lack of final ball and brutal shooting Cadden - MOTM for me, absolutely tireless shift. On a couple of occasions he opted to check back inside but could have driven on McDonald - isolated up front far too often. But his first touch and ball retention were poor McFadden - debut#4 , barely involved Moult is the missing ingredient
  14. No need to babble on about him
  15. Clay got subbed on Saturday, and it all went to pot. he was well fired up and didn't glaze over in the heat of things. At least he wasn't crocked either
  16. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, whereupon Big Sammy will palm it limply back to you to hit him with the rebound...
  17. You are having a laugh, Clay did a couple of things that Stuart Crabswell was incapable of:- - he passed the ball forward - he won a number of tackles Far from perfect but no comparison
  18. Clay for me Bit of an iffy start, but came on to a game. Won his fair share of challenges, and didn't get panicked Worryingly lightweight signs from Tait and Thomas. Get in the gym lads, this is no league for the faint-hearted
  19. Lacklustre Tired Wayward passes Lack of concentration I reckon this applied to pretty much every player today. The changes changed nothing, Blyth got no service and basically lumbered about, Thomas was introduced late on and just doesn't seem to have a game plan. Far too lightweight for combat
  20. Unlike Man Utd, we'll never win anything with young players. Reality is that it has to be a blend of youth , experience, and "steady Eddies" to keep us on an even keel. While we can unearth a few diamonds in the rough to boost finances, we still need to be able to stay in the top flight. And one final cliché, we can't polish turds, but rolling a few in glitter might just be the way forward.
  21. Anonymous All over the park Misplaced passes by the ton Stevie Hammell at centre back, ably assisted by the effervescent SloJo. Sweet f cking Jesus. McHugh Moult and Blyth would've done more, bandages , crutches and all
