  1. Good to get a win over County especially after their victory at our patch and it went tits up that day. However this squad is a team full of excellent players that play for the badge and give everything.

Said even before MacIver was brought into the first team squad we should be looking at getting him involved. So it’s great to see another youngster get his chance and score a screamer on his debut.

Probably Hyltons best game for us. Hopefully more to come from him next week and not stage fright. Not such a good day for Scott but he’s going to have good days and not so good days for a while yet.

Been raving about him for ages, that Morton game he was unreal and always backed him to do well, when he was written off after the hearts cup game. Ever since he’s got back into the side he keeps getting better and better, St Mirren on Wednesday he was class but today was even better. Glad to see he’s changing opinions of a lot of supporters now.

Very good 3 points, wee bit of quality was the difference in the end. Thought Hylton, Polworth, Campbell and Carroll were class.

Crazy to think some people had written Carroll off because of a few Twitter comments. The guy is class.

Made a huge impact to our team having a left footed left back who can actually do the basics in football compared to the recent duds we’ve had. All joking aside the guy is different class, strong, pacey and can play, a real steal we’ve got there.

Hastie might become the player you think he is. He certainly has potential. Remains to be seen if he can realize his potential.  I think Scott has more potential than Hastie but again, can he progress to higher levels and move on to better things. Hylton I think is going to achieve his highest level with us.

Have you seen Hylton in his recent run of games for us? The guy has magic in abundance, really got us going against St Johnstone, St Mirren he was dynamite as well. If he has a good season overall and adds some more goals to his tally you could see us get some decent money for him. He can definitely progress to a higher level.

Are these initiatives as effective as a fan encouraging a friend or family member along regularly

The club publicise it and make it known , say it’s a good game then they’ll come along next time and then the next. Of course we want it to be all Motherwell fans but perhaps people who do support us but just for whatever reason don’t go.
This would be a good season to start. Fan-owned club that are debt free, so we could do these promos, especially with a great team on the park this season with football that is watchable. Should be doing everything we can to get Fir Park as busy and loud as possible.
Could also do bucket donations etc. For the Well Society that I’ve seen in the past, everything helps to the running of our football club, and now it’s only us that can better that.

  6. In my opinion with the club now being debt free, and a fan owned-club I think we should be doing events regarding crowds to raise them as high as possible.

Maybe once a month at home games of course, promos like tomorrow “Well Society members get a free ticket”, we could add more like of course last game of the season is always the loads of free tickets to school kids, Xmas period you get a free pie or bring a friend for half price/ free.

Definitely something the club should look at which could inevitably increase fans and money, with merchandise purchases, kiosks etc. Good piece of marketing and will likely get a lot of praise as a club.

  7. 3 players I said we should’ve dropped were all outstanding tonight. However, I did think it was a good idea to bring in Mugabi which happened and was superb and rightly so has his own chant now. Great team performance and Hylton was absolutely immense and seems to be forming a good partnership with Carroll now.

  8. Been doing some digging around national league strikers etc. So far this season Barrow striker Scott Quigley is 27 potential over the age of what we’d look to sign but 12 goals in 16 games at 6ft4 may be an attraction. Another player they have Dior Angus at 25 been kicking around that league for a while kind of, got a move to Port Vale but seems to be a key player for them up front or on the wing, 22 games 6 goals.

Another lad that came up was Jamie Reid at Torquay, also only 25 so a couple of good years at us and who knows what may happen. 22 games and 14 goals the top scorer in the league. Since signing for them from Exeter he has 97 games and 59 goals. Also played at Northern Ireland at youth level and a success at us could see him back in the fold there. A player that will be known to Robbo I suspect, this one seems to make the most sense. Seen teams like Luton and Huddersfield linked with him but you never know, Marvin Johnson chose us over league 1 and championship sides.

Just thought I’d do some digging as we don’t have a real out and out No.9. Cole isn’t the best finisher and neither is Long however they do bring something to our team with their runs etc. Cole seems better with his head than his feet in front of goal also. Would seem logical to have a striker as our number 1 target, and we do genuinely target National League strikers with potential to improve.

  9. Carson

    Tait Mugabi Hartley Carroll

    Donnelly

    Campbell O’Hara

    Cole Long Hylton

Grimmy, Gallagher and Polworth have all played a lot of football, give them a wee rest and give others an opportunity, and then see what happens for hearts. Big Dec will be back in of course but a wee rest after international football won’t do much harm, other 2 standards have dropped slightly the last 2 weeks however Polworth offers a lot with set pieces etc. But if we are going to sign O’Hara let’s see him from the start.

    Semple  out on loan?

Think a few of the decent prospects should be going out on loan imo and even get some of the younger ones out to lowland sides for experience mixed with playing in the reserves midweek. Maguire should be sent out on loan again sadly as he won’t force his way into this team especially with O’Hara who Robinson likes, Sloth and the return of Turnbull won’t do him good.

  11. I’d like to get Cole tied down until the end of the season. He offers something to the team and yesterday he was outstanding however he can’t finish. Possibly a striker who can actually and create something out of nothing when we aren’t at our best.

  12. So what happens if we move, will it attract any more fans than we currently have? Probably not. Most likely won’t have the same feeling about it on match days either. Fir Park is an identity to the Motherwell town centre. A place like ravenscraig built on contaminated land and a lot harder to get to for rail links etc. And other surroundings was the reason that plan was thrown out the last time. Stay at Fir Park, redevelop the main stand line Hearts have done with their stand.

As mentioned earlier, No. 9 is a problem for sure.

I think a mixture of Long and Cole would be a good player but individually, they both lack a lot.

Cole works hard but isn't good in front of goal.

Long has also missed some sitters, particularly against Hibs however I also have some significant doubts on his attitude. For me, he looks like he can't be arsed half of the time.

Thought long was quality against Accies when given the start. Played very well against Hibs also but didn’t score and missed a few sitters. However felt he was unfairly dropped.

He works hard in my opinion and holds it up decent but also better when being played through.

  14. Potential cover for Gallagher incase of a suspension or injury. The lad seems a very good player by all accounts but seems pretty unnecessary especially with Maguire, Devine or even Donnelly all capable replacements.

out of interest, who at Killie are you referring to? the only boy i can think of is the boy from liverpool they resigned on loan? is there others?

They signed a youngish left back from QPR decent player. They had a goalie on loan last season as well. They’ve used the loan market pretty useful. I’m not saying bombard out team with loans but a loan from a big team for a season can work sometimes.

  16. We could’ve even done a quick loan for next to nothing money, a young player 19-22 to compete up front for a season or 6 months. Not the best method but seems to work for others in the league especially Killie. We of course have Cole but I could see him being a potential signing at the end of his loan if we can afford him.
