  1. Have been a huge critic of Hastie this season, but today was encouraging signs from him and the rest of the team. For the life of me can we stop bringing on Jordan White when we are winning it’s bad luck and he’s p1sh. Was pleased with that first showing and at least we are out of the bottom 2, definitely still need some new players in though.

"From what I've been told" is a bit rich from a guy who previously tried to drop snippets of info in the transfer thread and come across as 'in the know' and demanded credit for it, only to publicly out his own source as rumours on Twitter, take the huff, storm off the site swearing to never return again and then slither back on a few months later as if nothing happened.

Stop pretending to be something you aren't.

I’d always say if it was rumours from twitter, however most transfer things is from a source and usually spot on, always going to be things that are wrong though, that’s the nature of it, so I’m not pretending to be anything.

So your sources are rangers forums - FFS. You do realise there are differences between managers and coaches

Of course, however at Motherwell the manager is pretty much also involved in the coaching side of it with it only previously being Robbo and Las who took training, this since Ross has joined the first team staff and first team performances have dropped, coincidence I don’t know, was only passing on information (not just from forums) that Ross was a negative influence at the club.

What sort of record do you expect at reserve level? Development aside, there’s not a lot at stake with competition skewed when the awards are handed out. He’s raised standards & his methods were  enjoyed. May be that our new regime decide on a different approach, think you’ll find the decision was financial.

How do you know he raised standards, and reserve management is a pathway to senior management to allow you to showcase managerial skills, granted more so development but every game they set up to win the match and very rarely with him at the helm the team won. Such a well respected coach wouldn’t be managing in Norway or the Faroe Islands. Give yourself a break also with your constant responses, do you have notifications on for my posts?

Bit unfair to be posting these kind of “Rumours” about an individual. I don’t think you, I , or anyone else would be happy if we were named like this.

From what I’ve been told about him at the club he was a total banger and a part of our downfall ever since he joined the coaching staff. Never covered himself in glory when in the press or public all he spoke about was rangers.

  6. I think it’s like every manager the scouts have there list of players the recruitment team and manager work together and I’m sure the manager will have his own list of players, both go watch games etc. With regards to new managers they usually have a few players they bring in with them, and their choices of how to improve the squad and then work with the recruitment team to identify new players.

Hearing chat that Alexander is bringing in his own assistant,  with Lasley becoming reserve team manager,  Mo Ross will be leaving the club.

So if true we are getting  a fresh approach after all, onwards and upwards.

Heard this also, rumoured to be that Mo was the bad egg around the club, and he was running about Ibrox up and down the stairs with a laptop acting like a twat. Odd character never really liked him or had much opinion of him. Also glad to see Lasley staying at the club and like previous reserves managers im sure he’ll be involved with the first team in some capacity at least this season with no reserve team as such.

If only it was as simple as that. The ones you lauded didn’t force their way in either so revisionism there. Played out of necessity.

Failing to realise transfer value for one hasn’t helped progress & opportunity has been minimal. That’s fact.

Can also be argued a loyalty to those trusted & experienced seen the downfall of a good manager. He admitted as much in his final post match comments.

I’d call you out on the nepotism claim too, Harry Robinson offered something different to what was available & didn’t hinder progress of any other prospect & certainly of little effect on our budget, but, doubt you’re for listening.

Take your point with Robinson as he’s a NI international at all youth levels and made a first team appearance for Oldham but he is only here because of his dad, he’s actually an option that we could’ve used at Left Back where he did play, clearly not getting a game at QoS though.

Bullshit. What have you seen of their progress? I’d wager not a lot.

WOW factor to come in and play consistently? Only one can really be said of that was Turnbull and he is genuinely a once in a generation type. He’s gone, we’ll benefit from monies generated. Allan Campbell didn’t have a WOW factor, but, those who did could see he’d progress - it’s now time to think of life after Campbell. Incredibly naive to think he’d extend a contract beyond his 22 years.

Each has come in when given their chance and offered something different. To further develop a sales pitch for them, those behind haven’t been offered same opportunity- time is on their side though.

Well you’ve summed up Turnbull thanks for that. However Campbell came in and straight away showed heart and desire, tough tackling and in about everything with no hesitation. Scott got a few games and did decent held up the ball well and gradually got better and better. Hastie came in from a loan at Alloa, and was in scintillating form for a few months and earned a deal to Rangers.

Having watched the reserve games quite a good few times and had others tell me, from my perspective Devine and Hussain none are big commanding leading centre half’s won’t make the grade, Cornelius doesn’t really have much from what I’ve seen not really a tackled a scored not someone that is going to get people off seats and certainly won’t displace anyone in the team. Johnston young lad haven’t seen much but he’ll probably get a chance sooner rather than later. Others out on loan like Semple been a bit part player for Cove Rangers who are top of the league, been pretty anonymous in his few cameos for the first team, Harry Robinson only here cause he’s Robbo’s son. PJ Morrison been around for ages isn’t the answer to the goalkeeping problems. Need the list go on...?

What I’m saying is none have the ability to come and force there way into our first team even in our poor state even Barry Maguire can’t get a game and he’s the same not a great player but could possibly do a job and further ahead than others. We’ve had a great run of youngsters all come through at the one time unfortunately, not every age group that comes up will make it and that looks evident to me at the moment hopefully that changes and I’m proven wrong.

  10. My top 3 would be Simo Valakari (we’ve already approached) however he’s just recently moved a few months back.

Ian Holloway, good manager at high levels will have some very good contacts and has always good the best out of teams usually.

Graham Alexander, relatively young and ambitious with fresh ideas, probably unfairly sacked by Salford this season with them in play off spots, will have knowledge of the Scottish game, had a decent start to managerial career and could be a stepping stone.

bringing through our own youngsters should be our go to position and we started that a few years back.  What a great advert for youngsters to join us when they see the likes of Turnbull, Campbell, Hastie mk 1, Cadden ,Scott all come through.

We've lost the momentum on the youngsters but it should always be at the heart of what we do.  Shored up with some decent pro's (either perm or loans) from wherever we can find them (which could include European players not just UK

None coming through at the moment with that WOW factor to come in and play consistently, look at they players you named above they had something and added it to the team, what do the current crop have? Not much from what I’ve seen over the last couple years of their progress.

You get a say.  If you want a seat on the Well Society board you can put yourself forward for nomination and thereafter one of the other boards until the point where the WS are represented on the club board if you are elected.

You get an opportunity to every month or whatever it is to ask questions of the Well Society online and before Covid-19 had the opportunity to do it in person, as you did with the AGM every year.

You get email every Friday from the Well Society with any items of note.

To suggest fans don't get a say is incorrect.

I’ve had no email from them except my sign up confirmation and the letter through the door with all the goodies.

I’ll try to answer some of Yorky’s here too.

Perhaps signaling solely English clubs wasn’t correct of me. However, a very quick snapshot of livi or ICT would’ve also hinted that there were severe doubts regarding both Polworth and Lamie (more so the later). White has never played at the top level and Hastie had a purple patch with us before doing nothing for a full season. Basing our entire strategy on ‘punts’ has come home to roost like it was always going to with short contracts and loan deals serving as the base with no youth crop on the horizon.
We’re a selling club, yes (like everyone bar about 10 clubs in Europe) but I’ve always maintained that our strategy should be a solid 6/7 senior pros with proven pedigree and experience at this level supplemented by the youth, both to secure our positioning and the procession line. At the moment

I completely understand that we have to be prudent. Again I have no qualms over investing in training facilities or keeping cash reserves, but the reality is, we have reinvested nothing to note. Neither burrows or the board came forward following two of our largest player sales in our history with the space of 6 months and said “this is the plan”.
I’ll repeat it again, we are fan owned, Thus the raison d’etre for us as a club should be maximum fan value which basically means the best possible product  on the park. Neither myself or others who have purchased shares or contribute to the society do so because we feel that there will one day be a buyout and we will make a few quid or indeed, the bank balance is healthy, we just want the team to do well. We are not and have not been strategically acting to the core principals of fan ownership.

Totally agree here and for most Motherwell fans who are ST holders and WS members like myself, ever since I signed up to the WS away back 2 years ago there is very rarely any updates and dan decisions etc for a so called “fan owned” club and nobody really bothers with decisions off the park when it’s all going well on the park but like at the present when chips are down, serious questions need to be asked. And all fans should have a say no matter if it’s £5, £10, £200 a month etc, 99% of the fans will have the clubs best interests at heart and realise we can’t be spending millions on players of even high hundreds of thousands on players.

There's a balance to be struck.

I certainly agree there there should have been more investment in the team, but not necessarily massive investment in the team.

It's because we are fan owned which exactly the reason why they have to show a degree of prudence and not get carried away when they do get a windfall because when tough financial times do come there is no benefactor going to bail them out. They have to be prepared for it with finance in reserve.

They were also pretty clear that some of the money taken in was going towards infrastructure projects. I'll pre-empt that the "the nice new PA system is going to sound lovely in the Championship" responses such talk usually brings but bringing the training facilities up to standard is surely to be welcomed.  I wonder for example where we've been training the last week or so with temperatures barely getting above freezing.

What is so wrong with the current training facility at Dalziel though? They get the full use of any grass pitch they like, and the Astro, not bad changing facilities etc, a huge set of land for improvement in the future. Yes there is no gym etc but that’s used at Fir Park anyways which is 10 minutes away and they all travel to and from there for training. For something like a training ground that hasn’t even started planning permission etc, I’d much rather us squeezed whatever possible into keeping us up and the same should have been done at the start of the season, I’m not asking for consistent 3rd place finishes but you expect to improve and try replicate that for a club our size and maintain top 6.

  15. Major overhaul required, we are trying to bring Rolando Aarons back on loan, a player like him/ Ariyibi we’ve missed that kind of creativity in many games this season, first and foremost we start from the back though and go back to basics, players like Grimmy etc should be hunted as well as the likes of lamie, mugabi, Chapman. Harsh reality when you look back that a club like us let go 2 leaders of our squad for a few years in Hartley and Tait to bring in far worse players.

  16. I totally get both sides of the argument regarding Crawford, personal opinion he’s a decent player and plays for livi so he works hard but they’ve got a really strong midfield, he’ll do exactly as Robinson says. I don’t see the point in youth players who haven’t really kicked on in the last few years of being on the cusp of the first team hanging about for another season, 6 month loan then evaluate how they’ve done and give them a chance if they’ve played well. However I don’t agree with the let’s pay Livingston money for 6 months for a back up midfielder. Why can’t we go push the boat and sign a player of real calibre and class like Aberdeen, Hibs and Killie are, someone like a Scott McDonald in his second stint etc. What our squad is lacking right now is experience and player with a smart football brain.
