Turnbull but dunne a close second......sorry yorkred but Bowman????

Obviously a choice that was always going to be debatable and we are taking the best of a very bad bunch here but he put in his usual shift in and tried to hold the ball up and play others in at times while just about everyone else seemed to just be thrashing the ball in any direction. Turnbull did have a promising debut but dare I say the votes are slightly skewed by the fact he’s a young player everyone has wanted in for ages. I’m also slightly biased as Bowman used to play for my hometown club York.

  2. Sadly a game devoid of quality and any level of composure. The return of Dunn a big plus and I though a promising performance by Turnbull. We were the better of two poor teams first 60 minutes or so but as St Johnstone came more and more into it you just knew they would grab a winner. Not sure if it’s just confidence but Cadden and Campbell just seem to be going  backwards and without their contribution we really struggle. Fair to say Frear would have been better staying at home today but that probably goes for most of the team. I would have started Johnstone ahead of Main but don’t agree Main is not trying, I actually think all of the players are putting a shift in, it’s not effort that’s the problem it’s quality. Today was a big day for Robinson i’m afraid and to be still without a home win leaves him on dodgy ground. Real pity but every manager is judged on results so we need at least one win out of the next two or I feel the board may pull the plug.

  3. With any young players timing is key. Bring them in too soon and you risk destroying their confidence and they go backwards. However it’s what people have been asking for and it looks like it’s now going to start happening so hopefully they are able to make that step up. They are going to make mistakes and find it tough at times but hopefully fans don’t get on their backs and give them time.

Last season was considered a huge success on and off the pitch and Robinson still has a lot of goodwill in the stands and, I imagine, in the boardroom. I'd be astonished if he was sacked if we lose the next two.

What I imagine it would do however, is put him under some real scrutiny from the board, who might think for the first time that we are genuine relegation candidates. It would probably be the point where the clock starts ticking to turn it around.

Honestly I would hope you’re right but sadly it’s a fact that a lack of patience and knee jerk reactions are a part of modern football. It’s also a fact that the majority of new managers fail and no one on here is actually able to name anyone they would like to see replace him which says a lot about the quality of any potential  replacements.  I still think the double blow of Kipre leaving and Dunne’s injury has had a huge impact this season regardless of formation or summer recruitment. It’s a fine line between success and failure in this division for the majority of clubs on smaller budgets.

nope , iv only been twice this season due to work but I know where your coming from ite dreadful on the eyes and brain numbing. BUT as discussed before I think hes got 2 games left to change it ,or then who do we turn to ? as the first question was WHO gets the gig

It’s a long list of very poor looking options in my view. Robbie Neilson would probably have been in with a good shout but who else who is out of work looks like a good shot ? Other than that it’s going down the foreign route which is a huge risk, looking to England again, or poaching someone already in place but even then I can’t see a stand out candidate who would actually be interested. It would probably end up being Keith. Of course we may see a freed up Scotland manager shortly.

After last season I have to think Robbo is deserving of some time to put things right. While the last 2 weeks has been some of the worst football I have ever witnessed, I still reluctantly stand by it.

However, the next 2 games are massive. If we're no better off, at least performance wise, or don't see any attempt to shake up system or personnel, it'll be near impossible to keep that up.

If we lose the next two he’s probably going to be sacked anyway. Hopefully he can turn it around, still think he has it in him.

Yep, unless he has some insight on why Lasley is a waste of time then it's an absolutely pointless article that offers nothing.

Even the most nonsensical posters on here give more analysis.

Something like 18 years with the club. I would describe that line as highly insulting, he needs to show a bit more class.

Excellent piece in Sunday Mail today from legend Colin O'Neill about the state of affairs at our club at the moment. Can imagine the happy clappers in outrage. He's maybe a tad harsh about Keith Lasley but the rest is bang on.

Really, it reads like a 14 year old with 10 minutes to spare. I’m struggling to see how that could ever be described as an “ Excellent piece”.

I don't really care about what position we finish.

What appalls me is the absolute paucity of football being played.  What is going on now can't fail to backfire.  Today was close to unwatchable.  We'll either get relegated or drive fans away in their droves.

Another 1 or 2 like that and people just won't come out, especially as we head into the winter months.

And what is the long term plan?  We might be a percentile better than two of St. Mirren, Dundee and Hamilton but what then?  Another season of this?

As it stands we should do the honourable thing and take the F out of MFC.

Surely it’s first and foremost to pay off the debt and move forward from there. I would hope we will then see further investment in the playing squad and a better standard of footballer. Let’s be honest while we carry on signing none league, and lower league players from England we’re relying on a lot of luck because a percentage just won’t make the step up. Looking at who we signed this summer we have hardly pushed the boat out.

The Blarney Stone Kisser strikes again says we have stopped the Rot and you can feel the nervousness around the ground . No we were rotten and no wonder the fans are nervous we haven't a clue what his tactics were today so cmon Alan Burrows if you are the big fan you say you are get this clown out our club tonight

Not sure what Burrows being or not being a big fan has to do with anything. He’s got to make an educated business decision and look first and foremost in trying to keep us up every season, he should not be letting emotion get in the way. If he thinks Robinson can do that he will stick with him but he’s going to be more than aware that most management changes end up failures. We’ve had a few in a fairly short  period of time ourselves.

  11. Today was awful, no argument against that i’m afraid and let’s be honest we all thought it would be. Bit of a must win game for me because as evidenced by the feedback on here it’s obvious the tide was going to turn against Robinson otherwise. What do we do now ? i’m guessing he will get the St Johnstone game and anything other than a win and he will be out ( yes I know many want him gone now). Very sad after last seasons n but it’s results based and we just are not achieving enough points. However getting no rid is a risk, if he goes it’s nearly certainly going to be Lasley with no experience while Robinson has turned things around before. Big decision to make given what’s at stake.

Bigirimana is obviously the fall guy.

Bigi does not deserve to keep his place after performances of late, I would hardly say that makes him the fall guy, Cadden was dropped for the same reason along with both Campbell and Rose. Bigi is not immune simply because he’s a bit of a crowd favourite and can pass a ball. Every single player in today’s starting line up apart from Carson has been dropped at one stage or another.

Just listened to the Robinson interview....

Bang goes any chat of changes to systems. 'We have to play Livi at their own game and get back to what we are good at'

    I have fear

I’ve never been big on blaming refs for results so dissapointed he’s going down that line. Good teams pick up more points than poor ones, nothing to do with refs over the course of a season and the simple fact is we have not been good enough. I don’t see him changing the system or style of play, we will probably see Bigi dropped and Rose back in and back to playing less football but just now I don’t personally care how we play as long as we get the three points. It’s not going to be pretty and I think very frustrating to watch. God help us if they score first.

Aye interesting also that a well fans facebook group had a poll on Robbo that last time I looked was 300/20 in favour, so whilst folks are not happy and a bad October would change the figures, the vast majority (silent majority?) do not want change now. As Busta said on the pod those calling loudly for his head now are the ones who were against him from the start. Really hope he can turn this round

Because the vast majority are seeing the bigger picture and not knee jerk reactions. One or two on here have never taken to Robinson regardless of results, stated we would be relegated last season if he was not sacked and are stating the same this season. I don’t even believe all his summer signings are sh@te, they need time. Gorrin is a prime example of a player that if given that time could be a very good addition, he clearly has a level of technical ability and can pass a ball. Back up goalkeeper solid, Johnson very able and should get better, Aldred we already know about.

That’s cause they struggle to get a 1000 of their own fans through the gate most weeks.

Yet they’ve beaten Rangers today, beaten Hibs, taken a point off Killie and are the only ones to take a point off Hearts so far as well.

They also had to play at Celtic Park on the opening day but despite playing 5 of last seasons top 6 in their opening 7 games, they’re 10 points ahead of us already. Yet some folk want to use our ‘tough’ run of fixtures as an excuse for our piss poor start to the season.

It’s hardly  an excuse, if you have a run of games against the strongest teams in the league you can expect in general to pick up less points than a run of games against bottom six level teams. Picking out exceptions does not change the overall truth of that.

  16. I though yesterday’s post match interview by Robinson was a bit of an eye opener. Never seen him look so downbeat and for the first time he had a real go at the players and the loyalty he has shown. He’s clearly now feeling the pressure and probably for the first time knows he’s at risk of being sacked. As others  have said three crucial games coming up as he acknowledged himself and without 4 points minimum he could go. Without doubt Saturday against Livy is huge simply to try and start building confidence against within the squad because when that drops to a certain level it’s very difficult to get it back.

To be fair getting Clarke was a master stroke. Before that Killie were rank rotten and survived via playoffs. So let us not kid on that Killie have been far ahead for anything apart for the last season and this. If the SFA were at all competent Clarke would be in charge of Scotland by now.

As for the games v losses ratio. Where is the 35 games coming from. How about quoting from when his tenure started and stop cherry picking for effect.

I am not for a minute sticking up for Robinson. We are on a rotten run and have found an art of how to lose games. As for Bigi. A decent player yes - but when u need a player to get stuck in he just does not have it. He is a luxury we cannot afford imho.

Everyone can lose their sh1t of this forum but the Board will back Robbo until we are being cut adrift at the bottom. And so they should. Let’s wait until we have a full 1st run of fixtures and then we will know whether a relation battle is on the cards.

    Thank god
