Yes and no
We have had 3 own goals conceded for us this year inc the comical one in the cup game v Accies which set us up for victory. Could have had 4 if Broadfoot had gone in instead of hitting the post. These own goals are down to the pressure we are applying but also down to some good fortune.
I was p1ssed off yesterday for the 1st time in a while. I dont like it but I can almost accept when a team comes to Fir Park and plays better and deserves the 3 points. That was not what happened yesterday. Killie were great in defence and decent in midfield but there was only one team with concerted pressure or most of the match and that was us. Poor decision making and final ball was to blame but we never really got any break of the ball. Very rare when you have 30 crosses into the box for us not to get a slice of luck.
Also can you imagine the same penalty incident of Ciftci v say Celtic and Dembele with Craig Thompson refereeing. I think we know what the outcome would have been.
Worried a little we may slip back into the battle against the drop. Hard to see Partick, Hamilton, St Johnstone and Ross C all going on good enough runs to trouble us. That and Dundee also play the Old firm, Aberdeen and Hearts before the split. But if we lose next week at Dens it could get a bit messy.
Anyway I would take another Cup semi over top 6 - make it so Motherwell.
I know this tends to get repeated quite a bit but there is no way this team are poor enough to see us relegated.

Bowman might have come back just a game too late.
He was absolutely fantastic (couple of poor passes aside) and had he'd played 20 mins last week and got a bigger chunk of time this week we might have got something from today and still be in the hunt for top 6.
Can't wait to see him and Main link up on the coming weeks - assuming Robinson sees things that way.
Yep, I can see the two of them doing very well together. Look we deserved at least a point today and one stray pass cost us. Killy are right up there as the form team of the division but in truth there was little between the two teams. We had the majority of both possession and attempts on goal but lacked that extra bit of quality on the day, fine margins on a few occasions today. If we carry on like that we will finish the season just fine.

We've won 3 of them and drawn 6.
As an away side we shouldn't be looking to lose a game when we don't lose many away matches!
Plus we should be looking to avoid defeat against a team that has only won 4 out the last 10 at home......in last 10 away games we've equalled you points tally in the last 19 home games.
I've probably jinxed us now!
I love confidence like this, no pressure then

Id be more than happy with 7th place as I think the vast majority of fans would have been before the season started.Yes, it'll be a difficult game and common sense says that a draw will be a very good result indeed for us against what is Killie's finest team in decades. However if we don't win we can pretty much say goodbye to 6th place. Whilst 6th spot would be nice, 7th place would represent considerable progress over last season for me. So I guess there's mixed messages there.

Very difficult game against a very inform team. Personally I think we will miss Kipri big time today but Dunn has Improved. I would not be too dissapointed with a point in truth.
-
To be fair I actually think the quality of the Macron stuff is fine. I just dont like the last two away tops.
-
It would be nice to see a decent away kit next season, the last two have been pretty strange colour wise.

Who do we want in the semi then? Beating Rangers at Hampden was very very enjoyable last time and something I'd like to do again, though another pop at Celtic is pretty tempting. I've gotten so used to beating Aberdeen already this season it doesn't even feel like a big deal anymore so I'd rather avoid them.
Falkirk

It also shows that regardless of the dozens of times that it happens at our club alone, some fans never want to give a new player a chance.
Wenger says it takes 6 months for a player to adapt to a new league. The East Stand reckons 1 game is sufficient.
Fair enough, have to include myself in this case.
-
Celtic and Rangers ties, you could not make it up. However a Hearts at home is very doable.
-
I always liked Dunne, and given his time out of the game, was happy to let him find his feet. I'm old school when it comes to defenders.
You can coach passing and ball retention into a player, but you can't coach big and fast.
I never liked him, though he was a complete liability and very limited technically but I must admit hes proving me wrong so fair play to the guy.
-
Morton or Falkirk at home for me, I want another cup semi and this time we go on to win it. On the way home on the bus from the final everyone was understandable down and I commented we are more than capable of going back again this season. Nothing has changed my mind.

Sadly work commitments meant I was unable to attend but even watching the highlights it looked a far better display, we really have hit it lucky with Main if he stays fit. Really pleased to see Rose back in, he is so underrated in my view. The stats since coming back from the break are very positive and hopefully we carry that on.
-
He is a permanent signing.
Whoops, thought he was a loan until the summer
-
Main has had some start. Dare I say it we always seem to find a decent one.
Hes out scoring Moult. Permanent contract anyone ?

Kipre has been outstanding recently, ever since Aldred came in actually, he wins headers, tackles and can actually play a bit as well which is unusual for a centre half playing in Scotland! Credit must go to Robinson and our scouting team for being able to spot the potential in him and I feel we are now fully seeing what he brings and at 21 he is only going to get better as well.
Hes going to end up going for very big money in the next 12 months if the club play their cards right. Seven figures possible.

As in life, all about balance.

As I expected, Kipre gets most votes. However I went for Dunne, purely because he is the centre back I was previously proposing should be dropped for Hartley, but has played well since Aldred arrived. Although he was one of the suspects who lost Doolan yesterday, his reading of the game and distribution were greatly improved.
Im not his biggest fan but must admit he had a very good game yesterday. Kipre though was playing at a whole level higher than any other individual on the field. He was so good he looked totally out of place at our level. Carry on like that he will end up playing premiership football down south one day.

As I see it, the problem with our midfield is as follows..
Early in the season, we played three workers in the midfield (invariably McHugh, Rose and Campbell). This allowed us to compete but the lack of creativity was less of an issue because we had an in form Bowman dragging defenders all over the place leaving space for Moult. And Moult could get us a goal out of nothing. Think of the last goal against Aberdeen in the league cup, the second goal in the semi final, his goal against Hearts. Were those goals 'created' for Moult?
In the absence of Moult or another striker who can pull a goal of nowhere, we are now generally only playing two workers and Tanner. I like Tanner (although he had a poor game today) but he's not going to do the dirty work that a Rose might do. Basically I feel that the problem is not Campbell or McHugh but the fact that they are generally playing against three central midfielders. When players are of a broadly similar ability (as most SPL players are), numbers generally win the day.
So what's the solution? Could Bigirimana or MacLean be the third midfielder in place of Tanner offering creativity and a degree of defensive work that isn't Tanner's strength. Could Cadden play more centrally as he did a couple of seasons ago under McGhee in a asymmetrical 442? Then he played with Pearson and Lasley in the middle, occasionally breaking into wider areas when we attacked. Johnson played wide, allowing us to still play two up front.
As others have said, the 352 doesn't suit the attacking players in our squad. Tanner, Cadden and Frear don't really benefit from this system and we're not getting the best out of them in this shape.
Maybe as Ciftci gets fitter, he'll start to pull goals out of nowhere as Moult did earlier this season and Robinson will be able to go back to his three 'battlers' in the middle of the park. Again not great to watch but it might be relatively successful. Depressing that it might be better for us to ditch our more creative players in favour of workers. A sad indictment on Scottish football...
At the moment I dont think there is an easy answer regarding midfield, as a whole they were dire yesterday and for me its the area that needs looking at most. No one really performed and as individuals they all appear to be going backwards. I think McHugh gets too much stick in general but he was poor yesterday as was Campbell, Caddens is a shadow of the player we know can tear teams a new one. With that formation easy answer is bring in another couple of midfielders but we already have the numbers so thats not going to happen. At least Frear made a difference as did Biggi but im not convinced he is the answer moving forward and will probably be shipped out in the summer. Think we need to change formation, but with the players we have I doubt Robinson will.
-
Someone other than Kipre even getting a single vote would be amazing. Different level to everyone else on the park.
-
Agree with that, far too slow moving the ball on, caught in possession far too often, and his distribution was woeful, not a good day at the office for him. In his defence the rest of the midfield was equally as bad so he was not alone.
Yep, very few players came out of today with pass marks. Hendry was awful before being replaced and I can really only give pass marks to Kipre. People criticise Rose but were we honestly any better without him ? Incredibly frustrating game with Thistle ruining any chance of entertainment after they scored but we only have ourselves to blame for 90 minutes that just about lacked everything.
-
I thought today was the best McHugh has been this season, he was snapping into challenges and shifting the ball on well.
Horrible game. Shite defending from us and shoutout to Charlie Dunne for his bravery, and Ciftci for the goal.
In truth I though McHugh was terrible, slow, caught in possession more than once and pretty ineffective. Kipre was man of the match by a country mile.

What are most peoples expections at the start of every season ? Im a relatively new supporter of the club and as previously stated have been quite surprised at some of the negativity on here. As a club with one of the smallest playing budgets in the league and as such relying on picking up players from the lower leagues in England im delighted if we end up anywhere outside the bottom four and have a bit of a cup run. Yes the footballs not always wonderful but I also dont think its close to as poor as is been made out. Its often mediocre with the odd bit of flair and I can accept that. We love the fact the players just about always put an honest shift in and do genuinely seem to care and thats certainly not the case at many clubs.

The level of negativity is certainly over the top. Weve got one of the smallest budgets in the league and thats the first defeat since the break against a very good team away from home. Were not close to being as poor as is been made out.

I tend to think decisions pretty much even out over a season. Good teams finish towards the top and poor teams towards the bottom. That old saying you make your own luck is about right. Supporters in general tend to feel hard done by regardling referees but there is always a level of bias towards our own teams which is understandable.
