  1. Which would make sense. Moving is a huge undertaking that takes years and will cost a fortune for any half decent stadium. I also worry about moving out of the centre of Motherwell and would rather we upgraded Fir par with a new main stand along the lines of the one at Falkirk. I know the club state it costs a fortune to keep the existing stadium going and it’s a lot easier to suggest a new stand than the actual reality of building one but I just hate new out of town stadium.
  2. We’re very lucky we are not run by panic merchants, if we had been Robinson would have been sacked at the back end of 2017 and who knows who would have been appointed. There are times on here you just want to say “take a deep breath”. Yodo will always try and wind up the pressure when we are on a bad run simply because he hates Robinson, I just wish some people would stop falling for it. Robinson will turn it around the way he always does.
  3. Thank goodness we have a sensible board who don’t panic and see the bigger picture.
  4. A must win game for many reasons and the same starting 11. If we perform the same way that we did against Hibs we will win.
  5. I think with the sale of Scott and Kipre they have already shown it
  6. I don’t think those running the club are that soft these days, we’re in a strong position and the fees plus add ons received of late for players have all been very decent.
  7. I think he’s falling down it pretty quickly, to say he’s been a disappointment at this stage is an understatement. He certainly has a level of talent but he’s a pale shadow of the player that had that hot streak before he left us.
  8. I would actually keep White, he brings something different to the others.
  9. Need to look back but he looked like he did to me.
  10. Not sure why this is even a debate, personally I thought it would be disallowed straight away, not sure why it took so long.
  11. I just don’t think the forwards look up to speed with little confidence, personally I thought the comments by Boyd post match were fair. Ok with so many choices they are not all getting game time but they actually look to have gone backwards. Long was improving as the season progressed and although I was never a huge fan I though signing another contract was a real positive, not so sure now in all honesty, same with Hastie, I still can’t help feeling he’s heading for a championship level club. Watt has that reputation of starting off fast at clubs before going backwards and he’s obviously not impressing Robinson in training, there is no way White would have been in the pecking order in front of him before the season kicked off. Lang was knackered after 70 minutes but again he needs game time, he’s going to be fine. Seedorf has actually improved much to my surprise but he’s still not the answer in my view, same with Hylton. White I actually like, he’s rather like Bowman with a good work ethic, puts himself about, and he does have a goal in him, very nice finish for the disallowed goal, however I still feel he was signed as someone coming off the bench and roughing up tired defences. I like the fact we usually don’t have to rely on one player to score the majority of the goals but that does mean everyone chipping in. I honestly don’t think we are a mile away though, we’ve dominated possession yet again and with better finishing we will be fine, our pass ratio is right up there and thank goodness midfield was back up to standard. I hope Robinson now sticks with Turnbull/OHara/Campbell in midfield. I would put Lamie who is improving back alongside Gallagher when McGinley or Carroll are fit and try to hold on to O’Donnell as long as possible because he’s as good a right back as we are ever going to get, given the lack of game time he was very impressive yesterday. That would leave us with a pretty strong back four.
  12. I thought we actually started the game on the front foot with far more energy, Hibs actually struggled because of us, not the other way round.
  13. A very good performance against a good team with lots of positives. Far better from the whole midfield with Campbell man of the match by a mile. O’Donnell was excellent and Gallagher more like his old self, always in control. Up front Lang tired but again showed enough to suggest he’s a very good signing and I thought White actually did ok, unlucky to see his goal ruled out although the correct decision, Seedorf again had a decent game. We do however need to start putting chances away given the amount of possession we have, Long and especially Watt look well behind the pace and at this point the striker we brought in as a back up actually looks the best option in the centre. Not actually that many negatives, O’Hara is not at his best playing that deep and I’m afraid Mugabi is simply not good enough in my view. I never like to write a player off but he was part of a team that was relegated from the football league and you can see why, his distribution is an accident waiting to happen. But I feel pretty positive after that, we were never suddenly a terrible team and today that showed, we will turn it around.
  14. Probably our best half of the season so far. Just about everyone has turned up today with midfield far better. Lang always looks to trouble defenders, I think White has done ok, unlucky with the goal. Mugabi the weak link in defence, he really needs to improve on his passing. Turnbull and Campbell have been very good, not sure playing so deep suits OHara. Given we are playing one of the better teams in the division it’s good to see us looking more like last seasons team with some nice passing and far better movement and energy. However we need to capitalise on our chances on goal.
  15. Difficult to say at this stage. What’s important for me today is a reaction from the players and the manager getting back to us playing the way we can play, not long punts up the field. I like the fact that O’Donnell is playing on the right which will be an improvement on Grimmy and Lang does excite me even after watching him for a very short period of time. Not sure what’s going on with Watt, I honestly thought he would be in ahead of White who for me was signed as someone who could offer something different coming off the bench. Maybe Watt is one of those four players mentioned by Robbo, who knows. I’m certainly going to concentrate on each individual midfielder today to see just what they each offer against the strongest team we have faced so far. Personally I feel Robbo made a mistake highlighting players in his post match interview after the Livi game, I don’t see anything good coming from that but it’s done now so let’s see how they respond. Sadly I expect another defeat, probably by two or three goals but hope to be proven wrong.
  16. Tough game, I would take a point right now. I expect the back four to include O’Donnell to play on the left with Lamie in the centre with Gallagher. Up front Lang and Seedorf on the wings with Watt in the centre. A good few players need to up their game and I’m talking about midfield here, the strikers need better service at times and I’m personally more disappointed with the midfield players than any other area given the quality we have there.
  17. I’ve always said we will never be relegated under Robinson and stick by that, he always has a way of turning it around. The guy is not perfect and no Motherwell manager ever will be, that’s why they are managing Motherwell and not Liverpool. But the start of the season has without doubt been a mess, even our better players are under performing for some reason and the likes of Hastie is showing why we did well to get what we did for him. A lot has been made of the strikers and defence but i’m more disappointed with the midfield performance. We have one of the strongest group of midfielders in the division but not one player has impressed at this point. Sadly it’s looking likely that we are going to end up with 1 point out of the first 15 and that’s going to heap huge pressure on everyone.
  18. It’s worth remembering the vast majority of last seasons squad that finished third are still with us, it’s not about a lack of quality. I think a number of players are struggling with injuries or are not yet fully fit. Campbell, Gallagher, Long, Turnbull all look less than 100%. The main problem after that is Robinson just does not know his starting 11, he’s shuffling players around game on game when we need to see a settled starting 11. Can’t wait for Carroll to return on the left. It’s certainly been a poor start to the season and a worry to listen to Robinson’s comments after last night game regarding certain players and their attitude. I think in reality Robinson is probably as shocked as anyone else, he himself stated this was the strongest squad he has had since joining the club and on paper I think it probably is.
  19. If we don’t win this one I expect the vultures to be hovering big style. Not sure how many changes he will make but think the back four will stay the same. He has options in midfield and Donnelly may come back in if fit, we really have more than enough quality in midfield, Robinson just needs to stick with the same players and not try to shoehorn people in. I think he’s unlikely to change the formation so I would go with Hylton, Watt, and Hastie up front but Hastie really needs to up his game, I don’t see him surviving another poor display. I take it Lang has a 3 game ban but expect t him to come straight into the starting 11 when available, even in the short time he was on his energy and confidence was a breath of fresh air, he’s going to be popular with the support. There really is no reason we can’t win this one, we just need to be more ruthless. It’s so frustrating having so much possession only for it to come to nothing and we certainly have enough within the team to score goals. A lot has been made of the defence and yes I had my worries and would like to have seen it strengthened but in all honestly if we had put away a third of our chances it would hardly be getting a mention.
  20. Take out the 4 attempts bit which is pretty irrelevant given you can only judge it on the team that got promoted and I would have thought it’s happened a good few times.
  21. I’v only seen Barraclough and McGee. Robinson blows them both out of the water.
  22. In my view it’s way too early to state the recruitment has been poor this summer. I thought McGinn was one of the better players against Ross County and Lamie did ok. White looks like something different off the bench. I like OHara and think he will offer enough over the season and I believe Lang is going to be a fans favourite very quickly. A lot has been made of fitness but we’ve dominated possession and had plenty of chances on goal, we just can’t finish. On the age of the team i’m pretty sure we actually do have one of the youngest squads in the division.
  23. I think at times the minute a player leaves us he seems to talked up. The amount of stick that Hartley and Tait took for been to slow, past it, agricultural and suddenly they should have been retained. Tait was actually offered an improved contract and turned it down. The club took pelters for not offering Hastie a new contract after half a dozen good displays and chose to see if it was just a flash in the pan, the sensible approach for a club on a limited budget. He’s now back and after two games taking stick, the club don’t look so daft now. I just find the lack of patience amazing at times, the grass is rarely if ever greener on the other side. We finished third last season and that’s now played down as only happening because everyone else was so poor, surely in that case every other manager should be at risk ? Just about every club will have a poor run of form and without doubt we are on a bad run which started towards the end of last season but just give it time to turn around, it will as it always has under Robinson. He’s made mistakes in the past and will in the future but overall he’s done a very decent job.
  24. A few signed over the last 3 years or so that we’re not loans. I would say Gillespie, Carson, Carroll, Polworth, Donnelly, Aldred, Kipre, Gorrin, Dunn, Hartley.
