[quote name="weeyin" post="489632" timestamp= (Based on the English Championship games I watch most weeks, however, I'd say the the bottom half of that league is about SPFL level). Hey Weeyin, who do you go and watch in the championship?
-
With the greatest of respect Big Wispy Flossy, unless you've watched a lot of lower league football, how can you legitimately compare? Yes there have been several non league players coming to the SPL but that doesn't necessarily mean that we are at non league level. There are wages being offered by some non league teams that cannot be matched by some league 1 teams never mind league 2. Although I haven't been to a championship match this season, Ive been to see games in league 1, league 2 and national league this season and hand on heart, the difference in quality isn't as wide as you'd think.

If people are serious in the belief that all out attack for the remainder of the season will be our saviour then they are truly delusional. There are very few squads in history that have had the ability to go toe to toe in that manner game in game out and this present Motherwell squad isn't one of them. If what people are really after is a bit more of an attacking approach to match day strategy than the dire humdrum we have endured this season, then that is a wholly different ask. I am confident we will survive but it won't be by outscoring the opposition like a Sunday league team.

That reads like a trade union election address

There's been a slow and steady 'boycott' for a number of years now. There's been a number of reasons why, some logical some downright daft (like blaming it on not liking McGhee). I've been saying it for a while, that transition to fan ownership meant the dawn of a new reality. Like it or lump it, I just do not see things positively changing for Motherwell or indeed Scottish football. I took my boy to his first match today and it's painful to say it but I'm finding myself showing more and more interest in following Charlton Athletic than Motherwell in exile. He's got the bug from today and in the same way that I fell in love with the well, he will become an Addick diehard. Charlton are a club with similar issues to ours so there ain't no glory hunting being done....it's just that from the outside looking in, there's a scent of death from Scottish football and a boycott won't make a blind bit of difference.

No, what it means is that regardless of whether you are right or wrong, you have all the moral fortitude and social etiquette of a piss stained wino. Do you still agree?

I have to say, I do find your work very entertaining. You have the whole thick as pig shit, purple nosed, green bottle in brown paper bag carrying ranty man caricature off to a tea.

I can't remember his departure being acrimonious but it was a long time ago. I've just had a quick google search but couldn't find anything. What happened?

I blame Maggie Thatcher!!!!

Don't bite, it's exactly what he/she is looking for. Just let the empty can rattle.

The SPL is dying and a lottery for results but Motherwell will not be relegated and McGhee will not be sacked. I said several months ago on here that due to our financial restrictions, we must become accustomed to aspiring to mediocrity at best and that many on here have unrealistic expectations of our club. We have a team that is mediocre at best. The club can only afford to sign from a league that is mediocre at best. It's been said on here before, whether the McGhee haters like it or not, at the moment, McGhee is still exceeding the league position our budget prescribes. Yes, the football is poor but that is also the case at every other fixture in the SPL. We are not exclusive in our mediocrity.

Isn't this the final year of the macron contract?

Agreed and if Skippy story is true, then the same applies. The difference here is as Wellowell says, the relationship between player and gaffer is not a good one.

From a good source, the Elliott Frear deal is looking pretty dead. FGR are refusing to let him go and willing to lose him for nothing at the end of the season. By all accounts, the lad is not chuffed about this whatsoever. Why they'd want to keep a player who clearly wants to go I don't know.

I guess I'm rising to the bait but I've never heard of a scenario like the one you are alluding to. I'm genuinely not looking for an argument, more an education. To my understanding, Coulibaly signed for Posh for an 'initial' years contract and then signed for Killie. I guess (if I'm understanding your point) what your saying is that perhaps Posh may be entitled to some compensation? Or perhaps that they actually sold him to Killie? Assuming that he was as publicised a free agent, what I don't understand is why a releasing club would be entitled to a sell on fee? Other than the lads age, Posh have minimal claim to his development and Killie would've had to have paid that in the summer. Alternatively, Coulibaly may have refused a new offer of a contract in order to become a free agent. Again, any monetary implications would've had to have been addressed at sign up for Killie. Principally, I guess any club could negotiated the release of a 'Josh Law' on the understanding that they may get a cut of a future fee. However, at best, this is a Scott Mcdonald scenario i.e. option of an extension after the first year. Would Hibs had to have given us a fee or if they didn't, any English club would've had to? I genuinely don't know...
-
Why??? He was signed as a free agent. A great bit of business for Killie and Posh should be kicking themselves.
-
The Elliott Frear deal isn't as straightforward as you suggest. He's under contract and will be subject to a fee. FGR are trading a lot at the minute and are losing a number of first team players. It would appear that they are going to try and hold out for more money as there are more than just Motherwell competing for his signature.
