  1. There's a big difference between being a qualified coach and an experienced coach.
  2. Rubbish. My niece has just completed her teaching degree, just started her first year of teaching. Does that make her an experienced teacher? Does it fuck. Think before you post such drivel.
  3. I doubt the coaches know, our coaching staff are inexperienced. That's what happens when you hire on the basis of jobs for the boys. Experienced players/ex-players? Yes. That doesn't make them experienced coaches. It's a moot point as I am not suggesting sending sixteen year olds out on loan. Rare are the players that are ready at that age.
  4. ffs I was with the British army in Germany at eighteen years of age. In my dreams would have I had the chance to have a professional football career, and if MFC told me I was being loaned to an English team to get first team experience, I'd have been off like a shot. There 's way too much stupid talk on this thread. Players leaving home at sixteen to go down south has happened forever and a day. My point is that our under 20's should consist of under 18's. The remainder of the under 20's should either be in the first team squad or out on loan - and if that means on loan to the English conference then so be it.
  5. Or non-development. Whole lot of waffle. Players moving hundreds of miles to aid development is normal.
  6. Thanks for listing several young Scots who have traveled for development loans. Proves my point that not all need to be home to Mummy at night.
  7. Who said you had to make a player go on loan to the conference? You offer the player the chance, he either takes it or he doesn't. There's a well worn path of Scottish players heading down south as young as sixteen, never mind nineteen. Guys like Peter Crouch were on loan at Norwegian clubs at the age of sixteen. And the club pays the living expenses in association with the host club. Your notion that they need mollycoddled and home to Mummy every night is just pathetic. These are young men desperate to make it in the game, potential millionaires. You'll find that many of them have more bottle than you do.
  8. Our under 20 team should consist of under 18's only. other Under 20's should either be in the first team or out on development loan. And if thatt means loaning them to the English conference then so be it. Offer a deal to these teams that they vwill pick up a percentage of any future fee. 3 - 5% would be enough. In the case of gge Johnson transfer that would have netted the loan club £20 - £30 grand. Interesting money for smaller teams. I believe we have a scout crawling all over the conference, for example. He should be opening up loan relationships. And we should have offered Thomas or Mackin on loan to Blyth's when we bought Bowman, leaving them short a striker.
  9. I think we all like the idea of Lucas and harbour dreams that he's gonna become an EPL level midfielder in our team. Knowing our luck he'll trip over a butterfly and will never play for us again. Some risk for a wee team on a tight budget to take.
  10. Set aside the Johnson transfer - when was the last time we earned a coin from selling an English player back down south? And I can't begin to count the amount of Englishmen that have been through our doors in the last five years. No doubt someone has the time to list them. Our transfer record has been APPALLING - and we have been a net exporter of cash to the English game, which is absurd. .................................................. I have faith in Alan Burrows. I do think he made a couple of ( maybe more ) serious mistakes in the summer. I don't want to go over old ground regurgitating them. McGhee is a temporary fixture, none of us will be shocked if he's elsewhere next season. Burrows is not temporary - he has to ram the new club ethos down the throat of the coaching staff and management in situ. It would be a start - an outstanding start - if he assessed via his sports fitness staff if the players he is offering contracts too are capable of playing ninety minutes.
  11. Take this youth issue direct to the door of Alan Burrows. It's him that's signing cheque after cheque after cheque for incoming players. And if McGhee fucks off at the first decent offer ( again ) it will be Burrows who's left with egg on his face. His role at the club is to secure it beyond McGhee's tenure. And part of that is saying no. No one is asking the club to flood the first team with youth. But the bottom line is we are playing with a midfield incapable of lasting ninety minutes ( Cadden excepted ). And that is down to Burrows and McGhee. Laughable we can't give our under-20's the last few mins of a game. 2 - 0 down at home and bring on McFadden? come on to fuck.
  12. Rubbish. Don't be getting carried away with a single transfer, our cross border trading over the last few years has cost us a fortune. The money we have blown in wages on worthless crap. My god. Go list the last twenty English players at the club and total the transfer income v outgoings. We'll need another three Marvin's to get anywhere near break even.
  13. Hammell and Lasley are our past. Get the under-20's into the team now.
  14. Aye well I did say we shouldn't have re-signed any of he veterans. Our under-20's must be dire if McGhee thinks that mob are better.
  15. Oh be quiet - it's been entertaining to see so many people squealing at the idea that taxi drivers earn double and treble the money they are on. That's the real reason why this taxi meme keeps coming back. Jealousy. Laughable.
  16. My mates are giving me a hard time cos every time a Motherwell fan gets in their car they get interrogated. Shameful - get a grip on yourselves.
  17. Don't start telling people your on holiday, they'll go nuts.
  18. I'd like to see the club go all out to send our under-20's out on loan to countries that play summer football. Get them back in November, give them a month off, and look to intro them mid season when the first team squad is flagging a bit. I get the impression that the legendary McGhee pre-season was a flop this year ( maybe the league cup caused too much disruption ). It would be wise to run a shadow season. The under-20 squad should only consist of under-18's, anyone older should automatically be out on loan or in the first team squad. Exciting for McGhee to see seven or eight fit young players with European first team experience walking through his door every November. I don't know if it's within football rules either, but I'd like to see our over-18 development squad players on one year rolling contracts. That Ben Hall situ was a bit of a shambles, giving him a first team breakthrough while knowing he was out of contract sixteen weeks later.
  19. I read an article, can't find it, that said that was key to Leicester's success last year. I think they also said the average age of the side was twenty-three, and that ( might sound mundane ) the amount of gym work they did concentrating on leg strength reduced injuries such as hamstring injuries in particular. Raneiri is also known for not over training players. Time off keeps them fresh and keen.

I agree - and they have brought worldwide recognition to the club. Outstanding.
  21. Yes - there's plenty of idiots on this forum. Guys that actually believe that football is all about calling someone's Dad a paedo, for example. Most embarrassing time in my MFC supporting life was when the club made national news for racist ( monkey ) chants.
  22. I remember it well - Kirk embarrassed the club that night. I've never spoken to a Well fan that believed his story.
  23. Anyway - it's a direct result of the club announcement of the new commercial/fan engagement director. That's a club in/out? no? And a few of us are taking our chance to let the club know we are in favour of long term free entry for kids. He and Mr Burrows should be sitting down and looking at the figures. Free season tickets for kids could be ( I would say will be ) more important to the long term survival of the club than the Well Society. There's room for both - so lets do both.
