  1. That’s got to be the hope , at the moment we’re not showing any obvious level above the opposition . Ideally we can step up a level and continue to beat Morton and then step up again as we progress towards spl . Still to settle into our new way of playing , establish best formation and personnel and hopefully add quality into defence .
  2. Thats a fair assessment based on performances thus far -be interesting to see if we can step up our own game.
  3. SODS fault it's raining. See , started already Seriously hope we play so much in the opposition half we don't bemoan our defenders and to be fair to SOD his passing is generally decent.
  4. Patience is required. It will be interesting to see us holding our nerve when we ship goals getting caught in 18 yard box. Those goals are obvious but not in my mind any worse than booting up the park only for the opposition run straight through us and score. There's a few similarities to York who last year moved to this style of play. At the start of their season it was very similar to what we're seeing but by the end of the season the ended up scoring 2x and conceded less. They lost the play offs due to a howler in their box inbounds the final game and many fans still felt the style was wrong. I'll be delighted if we can follow in their footsteps , increasing goals scored and moving us far further up the league. There will be massive moments of embarrassment but overall should see much better football being played.
  5. Agree . I do love us having some local lads who’ve grown up with the club . Be great to see him progress .
  6. This is where I'm at. There's a difference of being frustrated v's downright abusive. Appreciate not in the same ballpark but was chatting to my friend who supports York City - Salford team walked off the part following racial abuse last week and the match was abandoned. Someone has since been arrested. The more the game has a hard line about behaviour the better behaved people are likely to become.
  7. Completely agree - you'd think SOD was some form of evil who some how has convinced several managers to play him in a whole bunch of positions simply to sabotage and ensure we lose. He's a local guy who like us all has flaws and clearly gives his best. It's about time the modern game exits anyone from the crowd for being abusive .
  8. Not hugely surprised at how things panned out . manager has been in for a few weeks Still got several players to sign . Fitness and sharpness is that of pre season - because it is preseason . several plays getting to know one another . new formation, new ways of playing . All of this takes time . Protected a few players by not risking them on that awful pitch . Think it was mcgarrys article a couple of weeks ago the spelled out the need for patience . He was spot on , it’s going to take time to settle in after this significant overhaul of players , manager, change in approach .
  9. Was interesting to read. Very quickly brought back the memories of Mugabi pi55ing about under GA. Be great to see us having the ability to make the 10-15 yard passes and build out properly . Equally it will be hard to watch as we go through a learning curve . hopefully it will attract guys who have the technical skills to pull it off.
  10. Im really concerned with the change of signing strategy πŸ˜‰. Whatever happened to signing aging players or those with a history of injuries ? Whats going to happen to our poor physios this season ? In all seriousness , overall ticks a lot of boxes . next step please bring back Alan Campbell . Could do with a bit of steel in the middle of the team .
  11. we've brought in McGhee and Fadinger who are both very decent quality players. If we continue to attract that calibre we'll be fine.
  12. To be fair to both GA & SK they both added value during their time. Neither appointment is statistically poor - particularly not in comparison to likes of Kampman. Davies, Black, Malpas. Worth remembering both helped us get out trouble in their first season. both had win records of 40% over their total tenure. The article reads more as GA having a level of empathy for a fellow manager, which managers will always back one another. When he GA left he was very complimentary to the club. What I didn't like about either manager was their style of play and thought both came across as fairly arrogant, which many fans didn't care about until we went on poor runs. Anyway hopefully we can get some fresh blood in the team and give us all something to be cheerful about.
  13. Reads like several players were offered terms. All loanees should have been returned to sender and those not playing every week who're out of contract should have been automatically released. Good point was made earlier re clearing the decks. I don't think we're being strong enough. For me we're far too accommodating to many average Joe's. Concerning that people are watching these guys every week and think we should continue to pay them. I can't help but think it's partly due to being led by a society rather than a single owner. A single owner with their own money being wasted would be less tolerant. Having triggers in contracts that keeps aging and average players on the books together with these negotiations doesn't fill me with confidence that we're a tightly run ship.
  14. I can see where you're coming from re the 'bad feeling'. Looking at both his playing and managerial career he hasn't stayed anywhere for more than a year or two. Feel we need someone who could so 3+ years, we really need continuity to move forward. I wish him the best and hope this lasts more than a season. I'm sure we all do. In short it's completely understandable why your spider sense is tingling.
  15. their wage bill is about 30% more than hours so he'll be doing quite well.
