  1. For me it’s not purely fitness - the energy and distance players are covering with the tempo we’re playing at is a different level to what we’ve been doing before . i could be wrong (and often am) . I think some of the players will be spent by 60-70 mins playing at this tempo , particularly the midfield and wingbacks that are covering a lot of ground . The likes of Liverpool and other big clubs took time to adopt to this style and also relied on a depth of squad
  2. Thats a good point - I suspect many of the players are knackered by 60 mins we need strong subs to keep momentum or at least keep the ball - st the moment injuries are preventing us having the depth we need
  3. For me Stamo is devoid of confidence albeit I equally believe he'd scored if we played balls into the 6 yard box. For sure if we had a Cobra Coyne we'd have banged in a few more goals. Where I'm not in complete agreement is it's a number 9 issue. Our balls into the box have been pretty poor and some of the final passes into the box have been poor. Longelo is one of our most dangerous players where as I'd like to see better quality from likes of Said/Osong/and once up to speed Charles Cook. All forwards need to be more concise and I'd rather have AP at the end of it missing loads of obvious chances.
  4. The goals for or against statistically are reasonable . We normally have a negative goals against . The issue and what feels like a kick in the gut is we've been the better team in all games and if things were 'fair' we'd be top of the league right now. Th difference our final ball into the box/the pass/the composure up front. Being a little more direct in the final third and finding the pass, cross etc would make such a difference. Overall though we're easy on the eye and although frustrating pretty pleased with progress.
  5. I’m very pro our style of football and again thought we were excellent in the first half . our midfield is so much stronger than I can remember in the majority of the 45+ years of following us . the final third for me is an issue and I’m not just saying AP who looks devoid of confidence . we have a lots of players who’s final ball is pretty dreadful and that’s an issue. Several flatter to decisive a little, they have pace and strength but lack the same quality of the midfield . perhaps it will all come together but the majority of our forwards I don’t think offer that much . just to be clear I’m not slagging off any players here nor have any doom and gloom - a little frustrated yes and would like to see a touch better quality in the final 3rd
  6. Im rather enjoying our possession and the frustration it causes the opposition fans . both hearts game ans today with Dundee both actively booing their own team in the first half. I don’t think we’ve been at the edge of your seat good but they haven’t had a kick of the ball very much enjoying this approach to football - long may it continue
  7. For the first time in many years there's very positive signs. The best football I can recall us playing in +40 years, as good as we were in the 90s with McLean and also under Mcghee v1. We have a very good manager, the best squad in years with people who can actually play football. There's a few teams that will be on the wrong end of spanking from us. Aberdeen may well be one of them.
  8. very good player, great servant. I know it was only a 30 min cameo in goals against Celtic but loved that particular appearance from Jamie.
  9. As long as they don’t try and get our manager
  10. Be great to give SK a decent reception /show of respect. Go forth and win 3-0 , That will do nicely
  11. I share your reflections . If we could bring in a Randolph level keeper, central defenders and a no6 I think we'd be one of the best teams in the league. For me yesterday was so very enjoyable until they scored, some of the best football Ive seen us play. We were brilliant as a team for 60 mins but then tired and were poor as a team. I don't think it's just individual errors, as a team we lost our way against a Hearts team who until they scored didn't have the crowd with them. Suspect we'll learn to have better ball retention and like you mentioned a few prudent signings will really help us.
  12. for 60 min we had one of the best team performance I've ever seen from a Motherwell team. An absolutely joy to watch. Just may not be with us for long, top class player and getting better every game.
  13. Personal view is we dominated via midfield for 60 mins and were coasting. Hearts bulked up in midfield and we withdrew Slattery and put on forward players. I thought Hearts dominated us for the final 30 and honestly could have won, which would have been even more gutting. I don't think it's all down to the defence or keeper, we didn't react well to their subs and made formational changes and poor subs that for me lost our way completely . The joys of being a Well fan.
  14. Easy to blame the keeper. It hearts were dominant in final 30 . When hearts scored their first we should have shored up the midfield - brining on wingers and taking off midfield players I think was poor game mgt . we allowed hearts to run over us - gaffer as good as he’s been needs to learn from that .
  15. I thought he was writing out his next order of parma tan .
