  1. A man with a young family living in a different country from said family isn’t purely bad luck . there was a level of risk - had the family been moving over etc etc then fine but to expect that to work and all be hunky dory isn’t just bad luck
  2. when Seddon signed last year it mentioned the option of an extension. Just wasn't clear who's option (the player or the club) . He's been decent in the games he's played.
  3. Completely agree with you . It’s bonkers that we knew the squad was too large and didn’t have enough quality yet could end up with +20 of the same squad
  4. agree with that - better going forward than he was in defence. What I really struggle with is how many players we offered further contracts to. Do the club really think he'd be part of the solution. I know there were clauses in likes of SODs contact etc but honestly we need to get our act together in this area. As a club we hand out too many contracts to players we should be moving on.
  5. Club are dong a great job as always to keep things quiet . from the available Scottish managers Robbie Nelson feels like the most credible and a decent benchmark . In reality expect it to be someone unknown /unexpected . Suspect we’ll know by the end of this week .
  6. I've got a level of sympathy for Clark. The season is finished, for me its a nonsense that friendlies are scheduled in June. His win record over his tenure is as decent as any manager in last xx decades. Although we have a very strong midfield and LWB the rest of the team is lacking. Keeper, centre halves, striker - slim pickings. Last night was unsurprisingly poor and aligned with last 20 games. Im not saying Clark is the forward looking answer , equally I don't see it purely as we need to change the manager. Even back in the 80s when arguably we had some of our best players we had very similar periods.
  7. You have a better memory than me. can’t remember las scoring many at either end 😀
  8. Mio and John fullobeens - shame it only lasted 3 games but loved them both.:)
  9. Good point re big team and small league. Irrespective of league in the modern game lasting 10 years at any club is the exception. It suggests there's some qualities that are good to have. FWIW I agree about the fresh approach and generally speaking the club have been decent at this. I do think we need is a level of continuity and sustained period of management, hence someone akin to Healy would be solid.
  10. Personal view is he's a very good manager, think he's been there for about a decade. I'd love us to appoint someone who can help us over a long period of time. Fair play to Dundee if they can land someone of his calibre.
  11. Kettlwell , 200+ games & 40% win record Mcinnes who's left had 150 games with Killie and. 38% win record. When you compare to say Naismith or Docherty who have only managed 60-90 games and had win records of 30-40% I can see why SK has been offered the role. In essence no worse than McInnes who's been pretty good for them. Also aligns with their general playing style. I'm just glad it's not us resigning him
  12. This is the article from when we replaced SK . If there was any shred of truth I’d love us to appoint van der gaag now. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/motherwell-set-appoint-ex-man-34691035.amp
  13. bookies early list has led me to drinking early in the afternoon , not much there to inspire. Last time I thought Van Der Gaag was close to the job. As an assistant at AJAX and Man Utd I'd be happier for someone like him to join. https://news.bet365.com/en-gb/article/football-next-motherwell-manager-potential-contenders/2025052315032484636 Robbie Neilson . Managed 400 games with 50% win record. Experience in SPL Scott Brown. 130 games 40% win record. No experience managing SPL. Des Buckingham. 176 games 40$ win record. Maining in Nz & Oxford. Steven Naismith. 65 games win record 43%. Tony Docherty. 90 games. 30% win record.
  14. Agree with you re not being in the lurch . it now makes a bit more sense why several old the old guard have been retained - with another change of manager we have the likes of Halliday , sod , McGinn and also retained likes of sparrow , slattery and I’m hopeful seddon. hopefully we have a new gaffer in place soon.
  15. With hindsight I can see how it’s being discribed as a mistake . Why oh why would his family decide to stay in Germany rather than move to Lanarkshire ? that part is always a bit of risk. As a club we’ve got a decent record of brining in an unexpected candidate . Over the years Butcher , Mcall ,McGhee , barroclough , gannon, brown , Alexander . Don’t think any recall any being obvious . we need a bit of stability and ideally one who’ll stick around for a bit akin to butcher , Mcall , Robinson .
