Pathetic stuff. The team and the manager should be ashamed of themselves.
-
Well the manager has twenty minutes, possibly an extra 30, to prove he was right to go with that lineup today. So far the signs are not good, this is rotten stuff.
-
Not by the looks of that line up he doesn’t. It was the same with the Dundee LC tie back in August and look how that one panned out. I am sick to the back teeth of us not taking Cup ties seriously. I think we’re beat.
-
Just past experiences with us in Cup games. Ross County, Inverness etc. We need to get this done today. Anything, ANYTHING less than a win and progression is totally unacceptable. We are a top flight side playing at home against a lower league side, we need to win. I’not interested in the “romance of the cup” or it being an entertaining spectacle for the neutral fan or a great advert for the Scottish game. The only thing I care about is that we win today and are in the next round. So get this done Motherwell. Fuck Morton and fuck the big crane that hangs over their stadium. Get them pumped.

As he should! That was an abomination of a second half especially with the odds in our favour with them down to ten men. A defensive disaster show at one end and a stark reminder to anyone who thinks/pretends to think that losing Watt isn’t a hammer blow at the other. We cannot afford to lose our top/main goalscorer and not at least attempt to replace him. If we have any serious ambitions to finish top six or better and/or a Scottish Cup run then we will have to invest in another striker before the end of the month.

Beautiful stuff from Roberts! 1-1
-
I know that but I would not trust us to win a penalty shootout against any side, especially a top flight side, with Tony Watt being one of their takers or not.
-
I know what you mean there but you could say the same for any other top flight side were we to face them in a penalty shootout. We would lose. Our record in penalty shootouts is shocking and I believe it is the case that we have NEVER beaten a top flight side in a penalty shootout.
-
Given that Watt was our main goalscorer then I think we need to be looking at bringing in another striker before the window shuts and if that means spending some of the “six figure sum” we received for Watt as opposed to tying down OOC players or putting into the club coffers then so be it.
-
Been confirmed, he’s away.

Correct. I grew up with an intense dislike of Partick Thistle mostly down to a combination of the media’s live in for them (and that was way before the days of the internet/social media etc) and the fact that we more often than not struggled against them. Even in the mid 90s when we were finishing second/third we always found Thistle a bogey side. I remember us needing a Nicky Walker own goal in stoppage time to rescue a point at home against them circa 95 and then Alex Burns (who was hopeless for us) scored for fun against us for them in 02/03 when we couldn’t buy a win against them. That, and their fans are irritating wanks.

This tie gives me the fear. I think Morton will scrape it in a complete shitfest and Dougie Imrie will be giving it big licks to the South Stand at full time.
-
Clubome to our great wee Welc Liam.
-
Hopefully Covid doesn’t impact our squad for this one and we go up there as near to full strength as possible. We have a decent record at Dingwall and if we are at or close to full strength I think we can maintain that.
-
Sadly I don’t see us getting back to full crowds for months yet, perhaps not even this season. The earlier shout about extending the break and thus the season into the summer might actually be worth considering, especially as the World Cup isn’t until the end of the year.
-
Made it harder for ourselves in true Motherwell fashion but that was an excellent win and two brilliant goals by KvV to leave us sitting comfortable in 4th going into the break. Well done Motherwell Fuck Tony Watt
-
Well done Alexander for dropping Watt, no one is bigger than the club especially a player who is moving to another SPFL side. Fuck him.
-
Disappointing to hear that Watt is leaving and especially to those horrible cunts. I was resigned to him not being here next season but annoying it’s to Dundee Utd. I hope he fails miserably with them.
-
Agreed. Football and politics should never mix.

I don’t think Burrows is taking the position he is to do Celtic’s bidding, certainly not intentionally anyway. I can absolutely get that he’d want us to have the opportunity to get supporters into games and by delaying matches that might make that happen, as unlikely as it is to actually happen. However you are absolutely correct in saying that this decision has been heavily influenced by Celtic and them looking out for their own selfish needs.
-
I can’t help but feeling that this has only happened because Celtic wanted it to happen. Had they not been so vocal in pushing for this then it would have been thrown out straight away. But that’s Scottish football these days, what Celtic want, Celtic get. As I said yesterday, I don’t see what this will achieve. The virus won’t have gone away by mid January and if anything case numbers will be a lot higher by then they are just now due to Christmas/New Year household mixing, so I would have thought it would have been better to just play the scheduled games bcd, as shite as that is. As it is we are looking at a major backlog in fixtures when we do eventually resume - which I am 100% certain will be without full crowds.
-
Getting very political this, I hate when that happens.
-
The problem is that it’s still a relatively new virus and therefore still not a full understanding of it and how it mutates. That’s why the concern over this latest faster spreading variant because the experts themselves don’t know what it’s going to do and how severe it could potentially be. There will unfortunately be more new variants in all likelihood but hopefully over time they get much, much weaker and then we can start to “live with it” but that could be a few years away yet.
-
Yes hopefully but it would be pointless and perhaps also irresponsible to just allow crowds back come mid/late January as that would almost certainly risk another spike in cases. If they did then they would be back to square one within a matter of weeks and that would render the current restrictions meaningless. It’s tough and it’s a shit situation, but I honestly think that until the Covid virus starts to substantially weaken then we’ll be in this cycle for the foreseeable future.

I see AB is in favour of bringing the winter break forward, a position being taken by several other clubs it seems. I’ve got to say while I see where they are coming from, the virus isn’t going to have gone away after three weeks and there is no chance of it going back to anything like full crowds by then. Generally since the beginning of the pandemic they set measures out with three week review times but they are not simply going to remove them after that time, if anything they will strengthen the measures at that point if not before. So bringing forward the winter break in the hope that by the time we resume crowds will be back is nothing but fantasy.
