  1. Indeed, we’ve been awful but I’ll take us being awful if we’re lucky with it.
  2. Potentially massive goal. Get in!!
  3. 1-1 straight away and United a goal up at Hamilton.
  4. Good to see Gallagher starting and a surprise to see Dunne in the squad. I didn’t think we’d see him in C&A again tbh.
  5. I think this one is a stick on draw. 1-1
  6. From memory it’s been 3-0, 2-0, 6-0, 4-0, 4-0 in Cup games against Morton at Fir Park from about the mid 90s. History is certainly on our side in this one but that counts for nothing in reality. As long as we are professional and up for it on the day we should progress.
  7. That’s the sort of Cup scenario where Motherwell typically fuck up. But I agree with you, we have a good chance of getting to the semis at least here. Obviously we need to take care of Morton first but realistically we should, we are a better team than them. Then if we get past them at in all likelihood play Hibs at Easter Road, we’ve shown that we can win there this season. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t fancy our chances.
  8. Except when we’re drawn at home to a lower league club and they’re drawn against each other in Round 5 meaning one of them will be out before the Quarter Finals though, eh? It’s a good draw for us and potentially a great opportunity to get to the Semis. One game at a time though.
  9. I think so aye, I just switched it on about half way through it and heard him shouting about a penalty decision and comparing it to an incident in the Dumbarton v Aberdeen game. Its up on ClydeSSB’s Twitter page now. edit: no it was a penalty that Accies didn’t get
  10. Elsewhere in the Cup, Brian Rice has just lost it on Clyde 1 over a penalty decision. Shouting, swearing the lot.
  11. Well played Motherwell. Job done and done so emphatically in the end. That’s all you can ask for in ties like these. Fingers crossed for a kind draw tomorrow.

This. Whatever his commitment levels are I’d have Gallagher in the team before Mugabi any day of the week. I think it’s a given that he’ll be away in the summer, but until then we’ve still got survival to secure and hopefully a Scottish Cup campaign to be played so our best players need to start. From Gallagher’a point of view you’d expect/hope that if he’s serious about getting a bigger move and making the Scotland squad for the Euros then he’ll be desperate to play and prove his worth between now and the end of the season.
  13. Good of him to say but talk is cheap and the players and the club have done plenty of talking this season, especially via the Twitter account. Hopefully we see this turned into results on the pitch and with a good performance today plus a favourable set of draws tomorrow we get a Cup run going.
  14. I think it’s too early to judge Graham Alexander as Motherwell manager as he deserves a summer transfer window at least to show his worth. However, if as has been mentioned, the likes of Mugabi and Crawford are being retained to be first team regulars next season then that is concerning, to say the least. Only time will tell of course and as I said, the manager has the ‘grace’ of a summer transfer window to prove he’s the man for the job.
  15. Absolutely. We should be starting with our strongest 11 possible and trying to get the game won as comfortably as we can. It’s a. Cup tie, therefore it’s a must win game so we treat it accordingly. After the Killie debacle I’d be bringing Gallagher back in, hopefully he’ll feel like he has a point to prove. That said I will never underestimate our capacity to make a pigs ear of any game, especially a Cup tie but I think we’ll be fine tomorrow and if we get an early goal we should win with a bit to spare.

    And Hanley’s just scored
  17. I just think that, like quite a few of the current squad, his attitude and application lets him down regularly. He clearly is a good player with ability but he just hasn’t shown it enough in C&A.
  18. Agree with that. In the case of Declan Gallagher, he was excellent for us from July 2019 - March 2020. Just what we needed, a solid centre half who was comfortable on the ball. This season though for whatever reason he just hasn’t looked the same player. There could be a few reasons for that which we will never really know, but personally I suspect the added pressure of being captain plus perhaps having one(or both) eye on his next move especially after playing a big part in the national sides Euro qualification may have contributed to that. Whatever it is if he does want to be elsewhere then it’s best for all parties that he goes.
  19. They’ve beaten us twice in the league in that time. Both times at Fir Park, 2-1 last February just before the lockdown and 1-0 in December this season. And of course they knocked us out of the Scottish Cup on penalties in February ‘20 as well. Our last win against them was in December ‘19. So while we’ve not got the worst of recent records against them on paper (P6, W2, D2, L2) the fact remains we haven’t beaten them for well over a year.
  20. You’ve got to hope that surely to God we can record a win against either or both of St.Mirren and Accies? Apart from the obvious reason of needing to ensure top flight next season, that we haven’t beaten either since 2019 is galling. It might not be comfortable but I think we’ll do just enough.
  21. Mugabi is guff, a bombscare. Release. Gallagher will be moving on, I think that’s pretty clear. O’Donnell is a decent player but doesn’t show it often enough and looks as though he’d rather be elsewhere. Release.
  22. Get Polworth out the door ASAP. I’d keep Crawford and Campbell, for all I'd love to keep him will be off.
  23. Definitely, it’s all well and good doing gestures like take the knee and hold up cards but at the end of the day that’s just tokenism. Racism is abhorrent and anyone caught saying or acting in a racist manner needs to be challenged and dealt with accordingly by clubs and the authorities.
  24. Getting a squad that is hungry, fit and organised would be a massive improvement on what we started this season with, last season as well for that matter. It’ll certainly be an interesting summer.
  25. It is but in our case we are severely hampered by Robinson’s dreadful summer transfer business over the past couple of years. Some of the utter shite that he brought in are still regular starters or at least contenders every week. With the likes of Lamie, Seedorf, McGinley, the disinterested Long and a good few others it really is no wonder that our style of play is so turgid to watch. Any manager coming in half way through a season would struggle to work with that and make it look like a football team so that’s why I won’t be judging Alexander until he’s had the chance to build his own team.
