    2023/24 Scottish Cup

1996. To be honest I’ve wanted to see us gub them ever since that tie. Their goalkeeper dancing about as if his arse was on fire when he saved the penalties still annoys me. This is a tie we should win and anything less will be incompetence and unacceptable. That said you can never fully trust Motherwell to do the business against anyone in a Cup game.
  2. Social media is absolutely awash with seethe and rabid bullshit from the “Rangers always get a helping hand” muppets as you would expect any time Rangers get a penalty which prevents them losing. The fact that the decision was correct by the rules of the game is irrelevant to these people because the issue to them is not whether or not the decision to award the penalty was justified, it is simply that Rangers got a penalty, full stop. And especially so just when it looked like Rangers were going to lose. That’s when you get the full on blabbering seething pish from these types of people #IIII see fields of green, Red roses too… I see them bloom, for me and you And I think to myself Wha# ….. Rangers got a penalty???!!!! Bastards! Cheats! Masons! Refs! Every fucking week! Knew it! Only they get the decisions! Baaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrghhhhh!!!!
  3. It was a penalty yesterday and a penalty today. It’s daft as fuck to tug jerseys inside the box when VAR is in operation.
  4. We have to win this one, no two ways about it. It would really help our cause if we could actually score first as opposed to having to chase the game and giving ourselves a mountain to climb. Obika and Biereth should both start as long as they are fit.

    2023/24 Scottish Cup

Yes they are, I see that now. Lost on pens to QoS yesterday. Okay so we can’t draw Dundee United, but it’ll still be a shite draw for us, it almost always is.
  6. 4th Round draw takes place tonight on Sportscene. We badly, badly could do with a Cup run to lift the mood around the club but with our luck with draws and poor form then it’s unlikely. I fully expect us to be drawn away to another top flight side yet again, probably St.Mirren. Either that or Dundee Utd for Moult to score against us and knock us out.
  7. This is a great result and we’re all entitled to enjoy it given the circumstances and who it was against. But we must follow this up with a win against Dundee next week, otherwise the pressure will be - rightly - cranked up on SK again.
  8. Supporting Motherwell isn’t always about getting pleasure. It’s about following the team through thick and thin, no matter what. Obviously you hope that you get pleasure and enjoyment from it but you know that quite often it’s going to be a hard watch and that you will more likely than not end up frustrated. That’s why unexpected results like we got today are so satisfying, because it makes you understand why you sit through the multiple kicks in the stones.
  9. Never mind me. Discuss the game and the result!
  10. That was a superb result against all the odds. We need to build on this though and make sure that we pick up three points at home against Dundee next Saturday. I see it was Tom Boyd’s 58th birthday yesterday. So may I wish our ‘91 Cup winning captain a belated happy birthday and a Get it right fucking up him! The whinging, paranoid, chip on the shoulder prick that he is.
  11. No, that you would come on here and rather than comment on the game, the result or the performance you would make an arsey remark about a post made without the benefit of hindsight. I would have put a bet on that but I doubt I’d find a bookie willing to take a bet on an outright certainty.
  12. We all know what’s going to happen here. As I said earlier, this is a carbon copy of the game at Fir Park.
  13. It’s been coming unfortunately and going by the rules of the game that is a stonewall penalty. We can have no complaints.
  14. This has all the makings of a repeat of the September game at Fir Park. Celtic below par, we’re not good enough to take advantage and they will eventually wear us down with their superior fitness and quality and the happy clappies will warble on about how we were “unlucky” and that “we played well”. 🙄 The end result will be the same though, we get fuck all.
  15. Got to make chances like that count in games like this!
  16. Mugabi back in from the start, SO’D starts again. As if it wasn’t going to be hard enough today. On the plus side Biereth starts.
  17. I’m no fan of McLeish but he did play his part in Skippy Sunday by guiding his Rangers side to victory in their game at Easter Road so for that he gets a pass.
  18. Sadly true. We are Pauper FC. Or at least that’s the image those running the club want to put out.
  19. I’ve never been able to take him seriously since Jamie Hamill bodied him onto the ground at Tynecastle.
  20. He certainly was, he kept the scoreline respectable for Hearts at Fir Park a couple of years back when we beat them 2-0 and saved them from a gubbing against Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final a couple of seasons back. If he can stay fit Craig Gordon could play for another couple of years, he’s still a top class shot stopper with ridiculous reflexes, his problem is as has always been, he’s murder with the ball at his feet and trying to play the ball out from the back.
  21. That’s one of the many reasons I can’t be arsed with international football, players get to choose their nationality if and when it suits them. That defeats the entire purpose of ‘Representing your country’ imo.
  22. Gallagher looked excellent for us in his first season, the one that was curtailed by the pandemic. However his head was turned by being capped by Scotland and that along with the pressure of getting the captains armband and no doubt his agent in his ear meant that he was never the same for us in 20/21. That said I’d take a half arsed Declan Gallagher over Bombscare Bevis in our defence any day of the week.
  23. You’re right, there are absolutely no circumstances where Neil Lennon would become our manager. Apart from what I said the other night about us never being able to appoint such a high profile individual he would bring too much off field baggage that in the long run would do us no favours. He would almost certainly have our support fighting amongst themselves even more than normal.
  24. 7-0 home win. This won’t be pleasant.
  25. While I’m not disputing anything you have said there, Neil Lennon does have a track record of starting well at clubs and injecting a spark/kicking them up the arse before it starts to fall apart further down the line when he gets disillusioned and results start going against him. His managerial career has seen basically that same pattern play out at every club he’s been in charge at. My worry there would be that he would get Ross County fired up enough just enough to avoid relegation this season, potentially at our expense.
