Not happy with this appointment because he used to play for Rangers and us getting people in who are tarnished by their association to that vile institution does nothing for the image of our great wee community club.
-
I donât see us getting anything on Saturday either. Weâre due a defeat and they are playing well. 3-1 home win.
-
Still burst Iâd say. That was a pretty dismal performance today but a moment of magic at the end saved us.
-
Poor performance all around, letâs not kid ourselves. But a point gained in that manner could make all the difference come the end of the season.
-
That was sensational! What a fucking strike.
-
And there it is. Bubble status: Burst

Anything is better than listening to that pompous, pseudo intellectual prick Michael Stewart on Sportscene. Him and his âbiometricsâ and ânuancesâ would make Gaelic commentary much more listenable.

Iâll reserve judgement until the end of the season. He wasnât my preferred choice but heâs got it so gets my backing and now more than ever the support need to back the team and the manager which Iâm sure the majority will. Weâve had two great wins back to back which looked unlikely to say the least after the shambles that had been the last couple of months. The Hearts result in particular was superb. However we usually do manage to beat Hearts at home at least once a season, indeed we have managed it in each of the last five seasons that both clubs have been in the top flight, so perhaps donât read too much into last Sunday. It was similar, imo, to us winning at Pittodrie in August in Hammellâs first official game in charge. As with Hearts, we have managed to get at least one win over Aberdeen a season going back to 2017/18 and when we beat them 3-2 up there this season it looked like we had turned a corner and were on the right track. The next two games are bigger games than the previous two, we need minimum four points to indicate that we are in a revival.

Thatâs quite an extreme take on it. Particularly in this instance where the discussion stemmed from a poster who was wary of a potential managerial candidate purely because of his supposed association with a political figure. Hence my response, that a persons political leanings should have no bearing on whether we employ them or not. I donât do politics personally so perhaps I am wrong about this, but I donât necessarily think that just because someone votes or stands a particular way that it automatically means that they are racist, bigoted, homophobic. Again that would be an extreme view to take. I wouldnât expect the club to appoint or sign someone who had been known to say any of the things you mentioned, in fact I donât think any football club would especially in todays world as that kind of talk and behaviour gets you nowhere in life. That said, a few years ago we signed a player who had a conviction for a serious assault and even promoted him to club captain. Did that fit in with the club ethos and image?

It was always going to be Kettlewell, rightly or wrongly. Some on here called it months ago that he would be our next manager if and when Hammell left. Iâd actually be surprised if the club have held discussions with anyone else tbh. Itâs the way it works for us, we saw it when McGhee left and Robinson took âinterim chargeâ only to be appointed on a permanent basis a few weeks later. It was the same with Hammell on an even smaller timescale. Alexander being brought in in Jan â21 instead of Lasley getting the gig was the only exception to that rule in recent years. I just hope that there is an agreement or clause between both parties that his long term position is dependent on us staying up this year.
-
A game on that dreadful surface wonât be easy and a point wonât be a bad result. 1-1

Hear, Hear! Opposing someone from joining our football club because of their political leanings, views or associations is very Celtic/Green Brigade type behaviour. Personally I couldnât care less if we appointed the illegitimate love child of Ian Paisley and Margaret Thatcher, if he came in and did a good job for us then thatâs all that matters.
-
Absolutely. This group of players seem to react well to a âboot up the backsideâ which inevitably comes with a new manager. Those shouting for Kettlewell to get the job right now would do well to bear that in mind. What we need just now is someone who can instill and maintain discipline in that team and not accept a drop in effort. Tactical nous as well is also crucial.
-
No, it wasnât. But then again I thought weâd beat Raith last weekend. I was wrong both times.
-
Itâs pretty clear imo that for whatever reason the players simply werenât playing for Hammell. Today and on Wednesday night we had McGinn, Spittal, KvV and Goss chasing balls, working their arses off in a way they simply werenât a couple of weeks ago. The difference in effort and workrate is crazy but welcome.
-
Incredible result. The workrate from the entire team was night and day to what it was under Hammell. Hearts were awful but thatâs not our problem. And get it right up that greasy, flat nosed prick Neilson and that Honey monster headed goalkeeper.
-
Yes but I think itâs fair to say that a sizeable chunk of the âMotherwellâ support that day werenât Motherwell fans. I know there were plenty Celtic fans in our stands on that occasion and no doubt some fans of other clubs as well. That said I donât think that our support, or potential support is any smaller than our peer clubs like Killie and St.Mirren, itâs much of a muchness. What I would say though is that we have a lazy element of our fanbase who simply donât attend run of the mill games yet turn up for Cup Finals, European games and playoffs against Rangers. Iâm not just talking about in the current climate either where finances are tough, this has been the case with our support for as long as I can remember. What I tend to find as well with these types and itâs quite ironic and amusing, is that they are usually the ones who are most vocal in moaning about Old Firm glory hunters and how they see themselves as being superior to them in some way. Yet they rarely set foot inside Fir Park themselves.đ¤ˇââď¸

I never said that Hearts were invincible just that they are as strong as they have been in many years. And they clearly are. In their last fifteen domestic games they have only lost three times, twice to Rangers and once to Celtic. They can get results even when not playing at their best and when they are on top form they are capable of punishing sides. They took five off Aberdeen, took three off Hibs home and away so they are more than capable of giving us a sound beating on Sunday especially with our leaky backline. We need to stop giving away cheap goals, work on concentration and start picking up points where we can, thatâs why last night was such a crucial result. A game against a strong Hearts side is likely to be too soon for us to keep our (hopeful) revival going and the only way we will get anything will be if they have a big off day.
-
Canât see us getting anything from this one Iâm afraid. Hearts are by far and away the third best side in the league and are as strong as they have been in years. The squad they have boasts an embarrassment of riches with a tough, combative midfield, strong defence and goalkeeper and goals throughout the team. In Lawrence Shankland they have an absolutely lethal No.9 and the likes of Humphrys, Ginnelly and McKay contribute goals as well. Robert Snodgrass has been instrumental for them this season and you can see why we were keen to land him in August as he is a top player. I would imagine they will bring a good support as they have been travelling in huge numbers of late. Motherwell 1-5 Hearts
-
Massive win last night in so many ways. Our first home win since August, first win in the league since October and at a time when we badly needed the points to lift us out of the relegation zone. Hopefully it gives us the confidence boost going ahead.
-
Weâre far too deep here.
-
Bit of both I reckon. The workrate has definitely been slightly better tonight.
-
HT 2-1 Two really good goals scored and a really poor goal conceded. I reckon we need at least one more goal if we are going to win this.
-
Defending yet again letting us down.
