  1. Early goal and we have a chance, but to be fair they have the potential to score on the break and they have shown how dangerous they are.

Still think if Coke had buried that chance we could really have put the frighteners on them.

I am just going over on Thursday to enjoy myself and hopefully watch a great game of football - if we go though I will be amazed!

Just hope the crowd gets behind them no matter how the game pans out. These guys deserve nothing but praise for the way we have handled this Euro adeventure. New team, new manager, half of them just kids and 11 goals scored - canny argue with that!

  2. Really need to get a nickname for him though as I can't bring myself to shout "C'mon Giles!!!" or "C'mon big Coke!!"...

The Butler? I found myself screaming that in JD's last night!

  3. Ruddy - He'll dae.

    Humphrey - He'll no' dae.

Coke - Still undecided. Reckon he looks like a decent SPL player, but not yet convinced that he's better than what we already had.

Jennings - I reckon he'll be a great asset, but think he needs to sharpen up. Has looked a wee bit off the pace at times.

So, overall I'd say the jury is still very much out on Gannon as far as signings go, but I'm keeping the faith.

    Anyone else got any thoughts?

I concur, but give Humphrey time - I think he is nervous - he looks it.

  4. So how come you've seen him once, tonight, and have judged him to be "quality"?

He 'looks' quality. He is big, strong and was pretty tidy in possesion against a top quality side. Give him time.

As for Humphreys. I think he was just a bag of nerves to be fair. He has a bit of the Jim O'Brien about him, where he has the pace, but no final ball yet. Again give him time and he will come good.

Jennings still looked off the pace and needs to also improve his passing, but again you can't really judge these guys against a team far superior to us.

I think we are all forgetting how good a team they are. They will get far in the tournament.

Its been a great experience for the youngsters and the game at Airdrie will again give them invaluable experience at the top level of football. Who knows a wee early Sutton goal might get them nervous.

  5. Coke. Did he play? Was that him that blazed the rebound over after our big chance?

Aye he played and he looks like he will be quality.

Anyone who judges any of our players on tonights performance should be shot.

They were far better than us and that no suprise since we were essentially playing the under 21 squad. The Steaua players recognised this and thats why they applauded them off the park.

I have a good feeling about this squad. I honestly believe we will do really well in the SPL this season.

  6. My Team:

GK - Ruddy - Bigger than Fraser so might be able to catch a football = picked!

DL - Hammell - Our best left back and has experience

DC - Craigan - First name on the team sheet

DC - Reynolds - Did well in his new roll, but I think we will need his pace at the back

DR - Hutchison - Did well in the centre of defence, but I think he has the ability to be a full back.

ML - Slane - Give him the Faddy Role

MC - Forbes - Central Midfield slot for the wee man

MR - Lasley - Again experience and a bit of dig (If he can be bothered)

AMR - Humphrey - Got the pace to cause problems

AML - Murphey - Again has the pace to give them problems

ST - Sutton - Big Sutton up top with the other two feeding of him

With that formation we will get beat 2-1 !!!

  7. The boy has done amazing against some pretty questionable opposition. He looks the part, but lets see how he does against Steaua and in the SPL. If is still performing as well then lets worry about contracts. Still way too early for us to be questioning his future at the club!

  8. I really tried to be polite, I thought we can be friends, I thought you are not like hungarian fans.

I am joking my Romanian friend! We can of course be friend but please don't set fire to us. It might be accepted in eastern Europe as rival banter but in deepest darkest lanarkshire it would folly of the highest order!

What's Hagi up to? The lovable rouge that he is?

  9. I'm no into this McGhee bashing shite. the guy did brilliant for us. Finishing third, our euro adventure and also the handling of Phils death. he may have had a anti climax of a final season, but I wish him no ill feelings at all.

to be fair though his behavior around the Hearts, Scotland, Aberdeen and Celtic jobs was pretty shite, but that's that nature of the game. If Gannon has an amazing season for us and some EPL teams starts sniffing about then he might do a McGhee.

We are very fickle us football fans.

  10. unirea urziceni, the romanian champions, narrowly defeated ayr utd 2-1 with a very late goal a couple of weeks back. we're winning this thing! :D

They (Unirea) have taken that lad from Morton - McCallister on loan with a view to him being in their first team.

As for the game against Steaua, I think we will struggle, but if we play anything like we did against Flamaturi then you never know what might happen.

  11. Fucking magic tonight. Very impressed with Forbes and Slane, but also thought Hutchison looks like he could be a real find - very composed at the back.

Slane will become a star though. The boy is going to really shock some of the SPL teams this season.

Gannon had the right idea tonight. He realised they were pretty poor so just went on the attack. Stick O'Brien at right back for more options going forward and play two at the back = a 8-1 victory. If only it was always this easy!

  12. I would still have Hammell at left back and put Reynolds in midfield, but what the fuck do I know. The manager stumped us all with his formation and ended up winning 8-1.

From now on I am just going to accept his word as gospel.

  13. While I'm exciting by Gannon's signing spree, I'll be far more confident about the season ahead if we bring in some experience.

If we go with a team of young guns it is imperative we get off to a good start, otherwise we could be in for a tough season.

I hope Gannon can unearth a Dailly/Alexander type character.

Whats wrong with Craigan? Captain of the club and is the most capped player Motherwell has ever had.

  14. I actually think we under estimate how our league is viewed in other nations. Players in league 1 and 2 see the SPL as a huge step up in terms of profile and quality of football.

They will be looking at guys like McCormack, O'Conner, Beattie, McFadden, Easton, Gordon and McCarthy and thinking if I perform well in the SPL I could be playing in the EPL in a few years.

When you look at how many players are leaving the SPL and going on to bigger things then we must say we are doing something right up here.

All depends on how good the players that Gannon signs really are though.
