  1. Love your optimism - but can't we have both? Edited - sorry should have said "we NEED both"
  2. Shit - he must have been at the game last night.
  3. Try pushing him anywhere just now would be a major achievement - seems to have bulked up a bit in the 'close-season' Seriously lets forget about Hammell in the middle of the park - he's a wing-back of sorts, but with the exception of his crossing ability, offers little in composure or passing ability - in fact I don't think he has improved any since leaving and coming back from Southend - not saying he's a bad player, just that he hasn't improved any
  4. Some might see that as controversial GazzyB, but quite a fair assessment of the individual performances with one or two exceptions, though collectively as a team we were anything but good - and I think this is where others will have a 'pop'. Agree about McGarry, Saunders, though I'm not quite as convinced as others (he gave the impression of a 'one-trick-pony' - beat the man outside and attempt the cross - good if you have the pace and or ball skill to do either or both. Unfortunately he showed neither last night, as soon as the Llanelli full back realised he was unable to cut inside him, he showed him to the outside and had him on toast for the rest of the game. Its all about opinions though.
  5. As opposed to a bunch of kids and some makeweight duds from the SPL - I really do despair for us as a support sometime - the man's only in the job, has barely got his feet under the desk and we've got some who think he's a failure waiting to happen .
  6. No. Edit - see well-army beat me to it.
  7. YES - 100% correct and refreshingly different from the usual cagey reaction of the SFA mafia who are afraid to step on the prima donna's toes. I know the private and public face is often quite different, but think it is time that all the players, inluding some of the youngsters need to take a long hard look at themselves regarding their fitness and professional levels - if some are so unfit after 40 days of the end of the season, then questions need to be asked about their own professionalism. - succinctly summed up the whole of Scottish Football over the past 30 years in one sentence and after only a few days in the job.
  8. At last some semblance of realism brought to the usual round of McGarry 'baiting' yet again - bet he wishes that Fitzy had been playing last night - at least he would have taken some of the heat of. Didn't think that McGarry was the worst on the park - Sutton carries that award off by some considerable distance imo. At least most of the time McGarry showed for the ball, attempted to be creative and was anxious to become involved - Sutton (?) well he just looked anxious that he might have to get involved. Can't seem to share the optimism of others that we are capable of turning this around - though will be happy to be proved wrong. Still looking forward to the trip mind
  9. You just knew this comment was going to come back and bite - Mourin-Hoe is noticeably conspicuous by his absence this evening. By the way how do you like your Humble Pie? In large helpings I would think, perhaps a little more humility and respect might not go amiss in future.
  10. Changed that for you - sometimes these things happen at this time of night
  11. Crossing - yes hmmmm - don't think we do that at Motherwell. Also agree that both Murphy and Saunders were pretty abysmal and certainly in Saunders case nowhere near the level to replace Quinn, as some have suggested. Think we may see Sutton move in the not too distant future, because JG certainly cannot have been impressed with his contribution tonight. Anyone else think that Stevie Hammell has put on few pounds over the short close season - looked he was wearing a 'M' when he could have been doing with an 'XL' (Or are the Canterbury just a shade neater in size?)
  12. A MOM you've got to be joking
  13. Melvin - a well considered reposte to this evening's entertainment (?) - with notable exception - Sutton was very poor tonght and seldom assisted those behind him by rarely straying more than 5 yards either side of the penalty spot, offered very little and got very little - I appreciate he will never be a Porter/Clarkson type, but as Burn_Broomfield says - another year of the carthorse's immobitility might just be enough to tip me over the edge - for those of a certain vintage - he actually makes Jackie McInally look like a whippet
  14. Funniest comment of the night - frustrated 'Well fan - "Where the f....'s the midfield" - reply from 1 wag - "They're behind the No4". Just about sums him up size wise, but he didn't even need to break sweat tonight. Oh dear!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. You are being too positive!!!!! There was nothing in the performance tonight to warrant any optimism of any kind from Motherwell. We were quite frankly awful and there are several recently joined, but very active posters, who are due our Welsh friends an apology and I hope they serve you up a huge helping of 'HUMBLE PIE'. We have just been beated by team who will not change their shape next week and we couldn't break them down tonight. With the same players next week - it'll be more of the same, only alcohol assisted. Well done Llanelli.
  16. Thanks mate - but heading down to Motherwell first to drop off the better half, then over. Will look out for ya though.
  17. Davie - bags of parking at the stadium, don't think you'll have any problems getting parked.
  18. Don't think so - sure I read somewhere that the squad list has already been submitted to UEFA and we're past the deadline for playing any new signings in this round.
  19. Gotta say thanks for the new thread -this confirmation deserves its own thread - if only to save having to trawl through the others for something other than conjecture. Oh and welcome aboard Jim - all the very best (starting on Thursday) .
  20. OK I'll bite BJK!!!!!!
  21. What a crackin' reminder of a great 3 days - Carlsberg don't do away trips ................
  22. I take it you mean Aidy Boothroyd
  23. Your rigth MMcG isn't the only cog in the wheel, nor was it his decision to allow contracts to run their course, the players in question did that by exercising their right not to take up offers from the club - while I appreciate he will have had an input over who should be offered deals or not, ultimately the buck stops with John Boyle. If we offer 'x' and the player says no thanks - what are the club supposed to do, they can't go out and sign a replacement because they are bound by FIFA/UEFA guidelines and the transfer window, therefore can't do any business until it is open - must make forward planning a nightmare. Stephen Hughes had already made up his mind - to people privately - that he wasn't here for the long haul - despite the noises he may have made in the press. Don't get too hung up on the fact that MMcG has been central to all this - it will just eat away at you and make you bitter - he's gone, there are other extreme factors at work here, which is pushing our already meagre budget to the limit.
