  1. Mockchop - Don't think so - the game wee Dave scored in finished 2-1 (3-1 if the goal hadn't been disallowed. The game took place on 7 January 1989 (Wishart and Kirk scoring) - info courtesy of 'Well Again' - not my memory - though I could have sworn that Dickie Gough scored a lovely headed goal in that game. Yabba - you got the video for that year - if you have could you check it out and put me out of my misery.
  2. Jonny - that might have been a Dave McCabe, header you are talking about - was that not also the Dickie Gough og game - though my mind may be playing tricks. Think that was the only goal Davie ever scored for us and it was disallowed. Signed from Airdrie (Spit) and blessed with blistering pace, but certainly not a finisher. No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
  3. Yep Pie my dad said the same thing to me after the game - he wanted a quick getaway after the game and wanted us to stand together, sorry but my place was in the 'choir' right next to the fence. We didn't get home to Harthill till about 6.30 - normally 5.30 after a normal game. It was chaotic to say the least. Oh happy days.
  4. Sad, Bitter and Twisted - even after all these years- Fergie thought he had nothing to do but roll into town, mix it with the 'Big Boys' and move on to the next round. Millar and McLaren soon sorted that out. 'Hard Men' yes but dirty - no - It wasn't the Paisley Panda's that day it was the Paisley Pansies. Poor Fergie bleated about it for weeks, how his poor wee lambs got kicked out of the Scottish Cup - they shat it good and proper. Might need to return that 'Seville' calculator - the batteries are obviously in need of replacement - huge away support that day, wouldn't surprise me if there were around 150 buses that day - but the split was closer to 50/50. Great cup-tie and what an atmosphere, I remember Doug Baillie's opening line in the Sunday Post the following day, " As the Gladiators entered the Arena, the roar that greeted them could be heard at Glasgow Cross" never was one for exagerration was old Doug .
