  1. I also think Dunne did well yesterday, and more to the point I think he's looking more comfortable with every game. He's decent in the air and lightning fast. A couple of teams last season targeted long diagonal balls at Hammell and Frear... I don't think we'll see that this season.
  2. Ah, must have missed that... who was the 'target' for the 'dream move'?
  3. So it must be in tomorrow's tabloids that we get the "Rangers interest in Moult / Cadden / whoever" story... backed up by a quote from Caixinha along the lines of, "we're always on the look out for good players"
  4. Thanks for that, interesting. Looking only at last year's players that have left made a significant number of appearances, and based on what I've seen from the new players in the League Cup games so far I'd say... Carson > Samson Dunne > Jules Bigirimana > Pearson Kipre > Chalmers?! Rose = Clay Tanner Fisher or Newell ? Ainsworth Overall I'd say that it looks like we've got a decent upgrade overall.
  5. I thought Cadden looked confident and dangerous throughout, so he gets my vote.
  6. From my mate who's a season ticket holder at Cov, re Bigirimana: "Our 2nd best player last year... wanted to keep him! The odd errant pass and few goals but great tackler, holding mid, bossing the game." Sounds good to me
  7. This is it for me, good luck Scott
  8. At Firhill recently for example, we had a big support, yes... but as soon as things start to look poor on the field the crowd turns negative / nervous and in my view the players feel that and you get into a vicious circle. I'll compare the recent Dundee and Ross County games as well... ultimately the result was the same, but it felt to me that at least against Dundee the fans and the team thought we might score again ... but against Ross County, as soon as they scored it looked and felt all over. I just take the view that a positive backing from the fans (ideally in numbers) just might make a wee difference... and is therefore far more preferable to the negativity we usually get when things go a bit wrong.
  9. Was in the ticket office before the Rose County game today and was told Accies is ticket only. This is it now really... if ever there was a time for a big, noisy and positive support.... it's next saturday.
  10. I agree... think it also gives us a significantly better chance of keeping a clean sheet, which on Saturday would mean we win the game
  11. In my view the three at the back thing has more to do with the soft goals we've lost recently, rather than the basic footballing ability of say Heneghan. We're badly missing Tait and McManus. I think everyone is much more comfortable with a 4-4-2
  12. Has Scott Allan been mentioned yet?
  13. Agree with this, although I went for Samson in the end
  14. The commentary was the only way I had to keep in touch with the game today, and I really enjoyed it. I was screaming at the goal too. I actually like the fact that it's like you're sat next to a Motherwell fan, as opposed to a professional neutral commentator... although I get the fact that some people would prefer the latter. I'm also just grateful that someone takes the trouble to do it at all.
  15. I agree with that. Someone else said that during the darkest days of the Baraclough reign he never hid, and that's what I'll remember him for. All the best.
  16. We don't yet know the story with Leitch, and whether or not we've got any compensation. Irrespective of that however, I'd imagine a conversation along the lines of, got any loan players that would benefit from first team experience? Given they've got gazillions compared to us, you'd like to think they'd try to do the right thing and help us out if it could work for all parties. (We have got a record of loan players doing well.) I realise how naive that sounds, but worth a conversation anyway.
  17. Nah, they're boycotting the strips as well, because of the Sports Direct thing.
  18. You'll need a taxi for that
  19. I've not seen many games, but I'd also go for McDonald as my player of the year.
  20. Anybody know when we can expect to get the fixtures?
  21. I'd agree with all of that with the possible exception of Fletcher. If he's fit I have a sneaky feeling that with a run in the team he could do well. Admittedly my sneaky feeling isn't based on a whole lot.
  22. For what it's worth, I bumped into Ian Baraclough while he was still our manager and asked him where he would place us in the English leagues. His answer was: budget wise, mid to upper league two; standard wise, mid to lower league one. From my experience of watching that level of football (and a general view of players that move north-south) my opinion is that that's about right. Championship is now on another level.
