  3. The wags were probably in a Premiere Inn in Troon.
  4. I think it was a fair enough point to be honest. We can hardly claim poverty and then take the team to one of Scotland's top hotels. That's fine if we reach the final, but for a fifth round tie against Stranraer? I mean, come on?
  5. To me this is the whole crux of the matter, when you sign a player you have to judge him on what he's done in the past, you look at his previous form and judge where and how his particular talent fits into your line up and how best you can use him. Obviously we arent signing him as a goalscorer because, going by his record, that is NOT what he does.
  6. I'll give anybody a chance once they pull on the 'Well shirt. I just dont think this guy is worth wasting a wage on. There are people on here talking him up because he got an England cap and Arsenal once spent £8m on him. Totally ignoring the fact that even though he scored on his England debut he never even got near another cap, and Arsene Wenger rates signing Jeffers as his biggest mistake in the transfer market. Every club that's signed him since has hoped to get the "fox in the box" that shone at Everton and no-one has managed it. Why will we be any different?
  7. O'Donnells lack of matches at Sheffield were down to horrendous injuries, never, at any time, was his talent in question. Jeffers shit career is down to being a shit player.
  8. Are you serious? Everybody that volunteered got a seat on the committee? I hope that's not true, I really hope that's not true.
  9. I hope he does score 15 goals for us, in fact I pray he does because we're going to need it. The fact remains though that nothing in Jeffers history says that is even a remote possibility. He layed in this league with Rangers and didn't score ONCE. You can bet your arse he wont be getting anything like the kind of service with us that he did with Rangers. So why exactly are we pinning our hopes for goals on someone who doesn't bloody well score them even in the SPL? Phil O'Donnell may not have kicked a ball for years when he came back to us but when he did kick a ball he kicked it in earnest. Jeffers has stoated around the country for years picking up a wage at various clubs and done fuck all. To even mention him in the same breath as O'Donnell is a fucking disgrace and proof positive that you dont know what you're talking about. I'll get behind him while he's on the pitch but I think it's disgraceful that we've signed him.
  10. Would rather see Dixie Deans coaxed out of retirement.
  11. What a load of shite, there is so much wrong with that post is difficult to know where to start. Since leaving Everton virtually every club he's played with has thought to "Get him in , get him fit, and get him banging in the goals" and every single one of them has regretted their stupidity. As for "at a level of the game that might just be a launchpad for a last hurrah" Are you forgetting he's already been tried at this level, with Rangers no less, and failed miserably. You want to take a realism pill and get your head out of the clouds, or maybe just stop smoking that shit.
  12. I picked casa, if he's a dud he's our dud and we definitely dont need another one. Jeffers has been living off his potential for a decade now let some other club subsidise the clown.
  13. Like what? What do you expect them to acheive? Will they get the bogs fixed in the East Stand? Will they get the paint scraped off the steps in the East Stand? Will they get the price of pies reduced? Will they get the water in the bovril turned down to slightly cooler than scalding? I mean as far as I am aware virtually every problem in and around Fir Park has been passed to the club through the offices of the Trust. I'm sure someone can correct me on that, but I'm also aware that some of these problems still exist. The clubs answer appears to be the setting up of another committee. The SAC will acheive what the club allows it to acheive, nothing more and nothing less. Your pals will get their picture in the website, the programme, and possibly the Wishaw Press, if there's a prize to be picked up or a contract to be awarded. This is a PR excercise nothing else. As I said earlier it must be galling for the guys in the Trust.
  14. I've never been a member of the Trust and very likely never will, and my main bug bear was their stated intention to seek a seat on the board. I believe the Trust should be working closely alongside the club but it should maintain it's independence. Once on the board it is no longer a Supporters Trust it merely becomes just another part of the club. The SAC is by the club and for the club, the fact that it has the word Supporter in it's title should fool no-one. It is inside the tent pissing out, for want of a better phrase. I never thought I'd say this, but I think the average Motherwell fan will be better served by the Trust rather than the SAC. Frankly, I wouldn't give the SAC the time of day.
  15. I have to admit I was fairly impressed by what is aw on TV, he looked to be getting into the right positions and who knows if he does find that goal touch we might have a player on our hands. I would definitely keep him up front for the Stranraer game, two starts in a row might give him a wee confidence boost and if he bags one against them it might do him, and the team, the world of good. He would definitely be the first name on my team sheet for Stranraer.
  16. I dont have a problem with the guys and girls on the committee, it's the committee itself. Where's the need for it? We already have a Trust that has a forum with the club and through which any ideas, thoughts, complaints, or suggestions can be channelled. Call me an old cynic if you like but the problem with the Trust may have been it's independence. Whether that's true or not I don't know but the fact that the club has seen fit to set up it's own group says a lot. It certainly seems to weaken the Trust ever so slightly. I mean a boot in the bawsack weakens the best of us does it not. In my opinion anyone who volunteers for a committee should be barred from ever sitting on one.
  17. Are there youtube videos suggesting McCalls daft? That'll be the one of him falling off the car I suppose. Jeffers has had potential ever since Arsenal paid Everton £8m for him in 2001. It is a point of FACT that he has failed to live up to this potential ever since, scoring 17 goals in 150 appearances in 10 years. Jeffers is 30 long past the age where potential is valid, he doesn't have potential he has a past and it's shit. If McCall goes anywhere near him then he's worse than daft.
  18. I really hope this is a joke, Jeffers has more baggage than Imelda marcos has shoes. He hasn't shown anything like his original promise since he signed for Arsenal, and he's flopped everywhere else he's been. Why does anyone think he'll be any better with us?
  19. Absolute bollocks. It's a sideways step, It will accomplish the square root of sod all.
