  1. I remember a time when goalies never wore gloves, who was the last Motherwell keeper not to wear gloves in a match?
  2. Why? I'm delighted he's scored for us and while 18 goals in 10 years is an improvement on 17 goals in 10 years, I still dont think SPL defences will be losing any sleep over the new goal king at Fir Park. My opinion remains unaltered.
  3. I think you'll find it's Tam Cowan AND a Motherwell legend.
  4. I spoke to a mate who's also a season ticket holder at Ibrox and his take on the match was not that much different, but probably more realistic. He said every now and again Motherwell come and have a go at is and generally give us a wee bit of bother and either we just scrape a win or they go away with a draw, but 9 times out of 10 they come here have a wee bit of a flurry for 5 or 10 minutes then collapse and we win in a canter.
  5. The first time I remember seeing a player wearing a number that was wrong, just wrong, was Mickey Hazzard at Spurs a midfielder who was just an inch or two over 5ft and wore the No 5 jersey.
  6. I remember Geordie Graham well. I must have lived in a wee coccoon of my own. The only other person I knew who was a Motherwell supporter was Lindsay Hamilton who played in goals for Rangers at one point. He used to be standing at the Bus Stop with his mum and if I was on the bus she'd put him on and I'd take him to the match and she'd be back waiting for him when we got home.
  7. First time I read about it McCall said late on in the game he was warming up behind the goals and was called back, he pretended not to hear because he didn't want to go on, so stayed behind the goals till the final whistle..
  8. Isn't that the whole object of the forum? The airing of thoughts, opinions, grievances etc, to fellow supporters and then debating them. You might not be happy with other peoples opinions but I think we have to remember that we all have one thing in common and that's a love of Motherwell Football Club. I might have a low opinion of the manager and his latest signing, but if anyone thinks I felt anything other than sick after the mauling at Ibrox on Saturday then they are sadly mistaken. The fact that I dont believe either McCall or Jeffers have the capabilities we badly require does not stop me from hoping that they do, and hoping that they succeed. Opinions are a very personal thing and everyone is entitled to their own, for instance, I might not agree with everything Nethertonwellfan says but I'd be quite happy to buy him a pint in the Cherry Tree next time I'm up, which I think is for the Celtic game. No matter how I've felt about the manager, players, or the board, nothing ever has, or ever will, stop me from being 100% behind the club.
  9. I've never been keen on us taking on ex OF players as managers, but realistically we have to accept that sometimes they have been fairly good for us. Davie Hay, Tommy McLean, and Terry Butcher for example, whereas the less said about Jock Wallace, and Roger Hynd the better. The thought of Stuart McCall at Fir Park filled me with horror, not because of his OF affiliations but because of his appalling managerial record. I'm well aware of the mess he was left but I believe that is the reason we needed someone better than McCall.
  10. I KNOW it's the former. I am aware the club has no money and I did say that I could understand why we did not invest to move the club forward. What I cant understand is why we appear to be settling for mediocrity, we've always had ambition always been eager to play decent football and earn the rewards but that seems to have gone. We seem to be content to bide where we are. There isn't a hope in hell that Stuart McCall will move us forward regardless of what he says in his e-mails, which I find frankly, embarrassing.
  11. Cant disagree with that, 3 consecutive European qualifications gave the club a lift and a wee bit of pride and we have progressed further each season. We were a baw hair away from qualification for the Europa league group stages and think how much cash and prestige that would have brought to the club. I would have thought that the club would have invested a wee bit in bringing that to fruition. Maybe that's not possible and I can accept that, but I cant accept the fact that we appear to be going backwards. I believe that in employing Stuart McCall and signing Frannie Jeffers we have settled for mediocrity.
  12. Some rational thinkers believe he should never have been appointed in the first place.
  13. No, much earlier than that, at the application stage when we check his CV.
  14. Never needed to do that just approached somebody in the queue to lift me over, never failed. I remember feeling a certain pride when I was first asked to lift someone over, nearly done my back in as well the fat wee shite.
  15. Me tae, but I never saw any other Motherwell fans on the Burnhead bus.
  16. Before Tannoy announcements watching the guy put the half time scores in the wee slots at the end of the ground and if you didn't have a programme looking for somebody with one to find out what was Game A, Game B, etc. The freedom to decide right up until the last minute whether to go to the game or not and walking up to the park and paying in, for every match. Forget the Evening Times Pink, The Evening Citizen green was a far better paper. Deserted streets when a big match was on the telly, Cup Finals and Scotland v England and most places were like a ghost town.
  17. Between them Sutton and Murphy have scored as many goals this season as Jeffers has in the past 10 years. Yes we're scraping the barrel alright.
  18. With every season ticket issue a free kids club season ticket for children under 12 and charge only £20 a season for the any other kids under 12. That way a season ticket holder with 2 kids is only paying £20 for the season to bring them along. The kids will spend their dosh in the shops, have a good day out and, hopefully, end up buying season tickets for themselves and their kids in turn. That's how it worked for most of us if we're honest, my dad used to lift me over the turnstile and no-one blinked an eye. In truth back in the old days I would estimate a good 75%, probably more, of the kids in the ground would have got in scot free. We need to give the kids a chance to build a relationship with the club to keep them coming back.
  19. I'm still on it as well mate, but at the moment it's going down further, and further and I'm getting queasier, and queasier.
  20. I don't think it matters what colour the specs are tinted, his record is still awful. I'd be howling with derision at my mates if he signed for their club.
  21. I've been a Motherwell supporter for over 40 years, I remember breaking my heart crying when we got relegated in 1968, shedding further tears a wee while later when we sold Dixie to Celtic. I hadn't exactly ran out of tears by the time the dark days of the 1980's hit us but I was old enough to keep them at bay with several pints of heavy. It's been a hell of a ride with relegations, a Cup win, administration, European football, all interspersed with some great football from some terrific players. It certainly hasn't been dull. I can tell you this though, in all those years I have never been as depressed about the state of the club as I have been for the past few weeks.
  22. ....and how to be a failure in every one of them, aye that should work. Can we keep him away from influencing the strikers though, ideally we'd like them to score slightly more than 2 every calendar year.

The Saint's goals to games ratio is highly unlikely ever to be beaten, if it is I'd like to be there to see it.
