That's bollocks. See Charlie Mulgrew.

Really? Do you know much about the Jamaican National Side? Also what is the benchmark of being good enough for International Football? Is it:- They can play for the current Spain/Holland/Germany side? They would get into the Brazil or Argentina side? They would get into the England team? They could play against Lithuania and not be shown up? They could play against San Marino and not get shown up? To be honest, you're lucky if we (Scotland) have enough players to use all fingers on one hand that are of the highest (even middle)"International Class"

Agree with Lobby regarding Hammell! Althought it's funny hearing the criticism of Levein regards to picking Old Firm players. He's dropped one of our best fit goalkeepers who currently at Rangers and I believe, without checking their is only one Celtic player in the Squad - if this play for Old Firm play for Scotland was true, then Mulgrew would be in the squad, and unless it has changed this afternoon Mulgrew is not in the Squad?

It'sn not just the SPL that have attendances down. The Premiership, Serie A and La Liga (bar a few games will ave a fair few half empty stadiums - I expect San Moix to not get close to what they had against Real Madrid - even when Barcelona come to town, although it will be interesting when Villarreal come to town). So what is there problem? as we're still one of the most attended countries in the world. As for atmosphere, the English leagues are not really that much better tbh, even with their purpose built stadiums and more than half full stadiums they're isn't much atmosphere unless the home team disagree with something - which tbh that is easilly heard at Fir Park to through the TV.

None of those could lace Wullie McFadyen's boots or no doubt any of the late 20's to 30's teams. What absolute bollocks comparing quality. Those 50 year olds, how many top league titles? How many Scottish Cups did you witness these players win for Motherwell?
-
To be fair on an League stage/European stage I doubt there is much difference in the quality of football between the two teams. Football then and now are two different things tbh, which both eras would stuggle in the others

I doubt there was much wages freed up by Fraser leaving since he wouldn't have left with nothing.
-
No chance. Once midnight comes and goes it just means we can't pay money to another club for a player. Nothing to stop us signing a player or a fair few from now till the end of the season...

Won't get any argument here mate!

True, but that's not just down to the SPL. For a bigger league to work, we'll need the SFL and the SJFA on board. We could possible entice the SFL, but the SJFA are happy the SFA gave in and gave them Scottish Cup spots. They'll never ruin their cosy little set-up to become part of Scottish Senior Football. But people that say the split doesn't happen, or work elsewhere are wrong. It happens a lot. If we cared what other leagues did then we'd allow reserve teams in league systems, force the SFJA to join the pyramid, have playoffs, that in theory are exciting but very unfair to those who have been better in the league season etc.
-
So we don't play 44 games a season. So in theory the midtable teams have something to play for come April, which most seasons has happened.

He's taller than Iker Casillas - if height is a judging factor for a keeper....
-
In Israel (and Greece maybe) they half points - one league I think only take points over from teams in that "group" as well. Something like that should be done. Saying that places like Cyprus etc. split it into three etc one for Champions Group, Mid-table Group and Relegation Group. With the mid-table group not playing for anything apart from, playing games.

Nobody. he has been released. I wonder how much we've actually saved....

You'll be surprised. According to this book, almost all clubs have over 25 players that are over the age of 21. Remember also a percentage (8 players?) need to be home grown too. Take Bolton for example, that have over 35 players in their squad - probably more if they are forced to register an under 21 as they don't have enough home grown. You'll find teams like Manchester City and Chelsea may require to do the same - although those players are more likely to head to the Championship if anywhere.
-
Ireland, Belguim, Cyprus, Greece and a few more have a split While, countries like Macedonia, Albania and many more have a home/away round robbin then decide the third round of fixtures depending on where everyone is after the first two sets.
-
I think we'll move Saunders to Centre Back, Hateley to Right Back and bring in a midfielder - one of more attacking presence. That would make more sence than continuing with the three defensive minded midfielders, while managing to play all three players... no?
-
Especially when it wasn't Craigan and Reynolds in defence....
-
Exactly Busta. We're not gonna splash the cash so the deadline is really a mute point. We can still sign a fair few freebies between now and I think October (or that just Spain that do that - if it is just Spain, then we can sign them up all the way to 31 December).
-
You mean Celtic? Since we've played three games and scored in two of them. It's a bit harsh slagging off the team for not looking like scoring against Rangers, Dundee United, Hearts etc. when eh... we've naw even played them yet

Aye. ESPN.

I thought I seen more of them on Thursday! Where were they seated for Breidablik and AaFK? -
Fuck third, we've done that. We've also done fair play and by league-cup default. It's time for us to actually win the Scottish Cup to qualify! 'Mon the Well!

Shocked no one has posted the "Game of Inches" speech from Any Given Sunday - which is usually a favourite during these types of games!

Because UEFA (and FIFA I think) say they do. It is there to protect smaller clubs that lose their youngsters for nothing or next to nothing. Rangers, despite releasing him still provided for him and helped his development. Hence their entitlement of a development fee.
