great thread.im a wee bit later than most of the things that have been said.defo agree with the cigar smoke mentioned earlier always a memory of going up the east stand stairs. Also when players were numbered 1 to 11,and if i wasnt at an away game,putting the scoreflash thing on ceefax, and I liked when players were allowed to tackle and refs werent the centre of attention.

my theory is the defeat tonite is due to the semi final on sunday. contrary(sp) to what mccall said yesterday,i think there will have been a major focus on sundays game,possible mind games being played i think,because a semi final of any sort is huge for us. tonight we got beat,game sounded shite,dissapointing-yes but lets move on quickly and get fired right up for sunday. us motherwell fans love a trip to hampden so lets make the most of it! never been a big fan of craigan,but he doesnt get that many caps with NI for being an idiot,which amazes me that at one one point that he kept jonny evans out the NI defence and had torres an rooney in his back pocket in two of there qualifying games at one point(no drugs have influenced this statement).the last 6 games at least for us he has been a bombscare,just about costing a goal a game,which isnt helping reynolds either at the moment.His `il take everything in our half` attitude, with the end result 9/10 ending up a opposition throw in or goal kick,is not good enough. but having being a critic of his for many years since even before mcghee,he has motherwell at heart and is a great leader,and if he doesnt play,the rest of the team dont play,at times as much is he is a `man down`,my opinion is we need him for motherwell to play. also the canning statement is spot on,how he ever made it as a footballer is beyond me,he would struggle to get a game with my amatuer team.

I like the idea. It means games will mean everything from the first game of the season,right to the final day. Not as it is no where more or less, 6th,7th,8th,9th, on occasion 5th and 11th,have zip to play for but pride after the split,which clearly fans arent interested in seeing,especially going with the average attendances over the season. Also the 4 or 5 play off games is another incentive to get to hampden and get more tv money in. Shave another couple of quid on ticket prices and I think attendances will start to rise slowly but surely. Rangers and Celtic arent even selling out a home game these days. I think it can only be a good thing for scottish football,gives fans and the press more games to be interested in. I think its got too a point with scottish football where it has no option to change,whether its this, or a 16 team `Scottish Premiership`. Not heard what clubs are supporting it or not, but I would suspect the OF are none too happy about this proposal, if that is the case then it has a very small chance of happening which is a shame,because I think it would be excellent.
