  1. It should be. But can you imagine, someone had placed a bet or three on Scott Brown getting a red card on Wednesday night within a few miles of his house? Would the SFA hae asked Celtic to suspend their captain whilst the investigatin continued? Not a f*cking chance.
  2. I'd agree, but if they are asking us to suspend a player then we should request that. Neither request should be made to be honest, but if it's good enough for them.......
  3. We should say to the SFA "Please suspend the Referee and Linesmen involved in the game until the investigation is over". Thank you.
  4. STUART McCALL last night backed Steve Jennings as Motherwell told the SFA where to go over Betgate. The former Scotland and Rangers star had barely been unveiled at Fir Park after signing a two-and-a-half-year deal when it emerged his club were blanking desperate pleas from the Hampden hierarchy. Record Sport understands SFA bosses sent a letter to the Fir Park outfit begging them to suspend Jennings who is at the centre of a probe into suspicious betting patterns relating to a recent Well match. The Scouse midfielder has been banned for the last two games after his red card two weeks ago and will serve the final match of his suspension when the side visit Hamilton tomorrow. McCall, though, will use him at the first available opportunity in next Sunday's Scottish Cup tie at Dundee, despite the SFA looking for the player to be sidelined as the investigation continues. The Fir Park outfit are adamant Jennings is innocent until proven guilty and McCall said: "Until someone qualifies these rumours, then it's ridiculous. I've already spoken to the lad about it. "I actually tried to get him at Bradford because I thought he was a smashing player. "I've sat down with the kid and all he wants to do is get out and play football. "He's not been able to do that because of the suspension but he's a good type and I just want him back on the park. "Unless someone is going to say, 'Bang, there's the evidence' we need to get him focused on football. "He's been missed and because he's not had the chance to play it's hard to move on from this. If you're on the park things quickly get forgotten. "Sometimes he just needs an arm round his shoulder but the sooner he's back, the better." Vice-chairman Derek Weir backed the new boss and said: "So far as Motherwell as a club are concerned, Steve will be available for selection for the Scottish Cup game against Dundee."
  5. Poor I know, but there was a header in the second half which was on target (goalie had to pick it up) and the Lasley blocked effort was also on target so I'd count that as 2, not the 0 as reported.
  6. Can you hear the paranoia from here..............?
  7. Indeed, thanks for all your efforts Youngy. Under the circumstances he did the best job possible.
  8. Typical of the Rancid. Would like to hear McCall come out and say don't mention Ibrox, I aint there anymore. I'm the Motherwell manager!
  9. If it's good enough for Neil Warnock, good enough for me! Motherwell have landed the right boss in Stuart McCall, says mentor Neil Warnock Dec 30 2010 Exclusive by Gavin Berry NEIL WARNOCK reckons Motherwell will reap the rewards of appointing Stuart McCall as boss because he is a natural leader. The former Scotland star has accepted the offer to succeed his old international boss Craig Brown in the Fir Park hotseat and will be paraded today. QPR boss Warnock credits himself for setting the ex-Rangers ace on the coaching road after he took him to Sheffield United where he eventually became his No.2. The pair parted company in 2007 when McCall was offered the chance to boss his first club, Bradford City, and spent two-and-a-half years in the Valley Parade hotseat until February of this year. Now he's returning to the dugout and Warnock reckons the 46-year-old will be a huge hit at Fir Park. He said: "When I signed Stuart I told him I was bringing him in as a player but wanted him to come into the coaching side. I just loved the way he went about his football. "I encouraged him to listen to me on things other than coaching when I was manager. "I think he learned a lot just being in the room with me being on the telephone, as daft as that sounds. "I loved the way he wanted to go about his football. I didn't actually think he'd play as much as he did in the year he was there as a player - but it was always just going to be a step towards the coaching. "He was made for that side of the game. He just encouraged everyone all the time. "There was nothing nasty, not like me. He'd just tell people where to go and why he wanted them to do this, that and the other." Loftus Road gaffer Warnock - whose side sit at the Championship summit - reckons McCall let his heart rule his head when he took up the offer to take charge at Valley Parade, where he had spent six years as a player. However, he believes the struggles the Scot endured with the Bantams will ensure Motherwell get a better boss. McCall took over at the Yorkshire club after relegation to the fourth tier of English football but his appointment in May 2007 helped trigger a huge rise in the sale of cut-price season tickets that made Bradford the best-supported side in the division. But after finishing 10th and ninth in his first two full seasons in charge it became clear Bradford were short of a team capable of challenging for promotion and McCall was axed. However, Warnock believes that could be to Well's benefit. He said: "The Motherwell job will be great for the club and him. He's now had some experience managing and I think it's a good thing because he's got enthusiasm and drive. "He's obviously learned from his mistakes and that all augurs well for him and Motherwell. "When you're a manager you learn from your mistakes. We've all had bad spells and you overcome them. "Stuart learned a lot of the realities of management at that level because they don't have anything at all at Bradford. "In fact, all they had was a good crowd - and that's because they sold cheap season tickets! "The circumstances at Bradford would have been very difficult for him but he'll be much better for the experience. "The biggest asset Motherwell will be gaining in appointing Stuart as manager is his enthusiasm and drive to do well. "He'll be determined even more than ever and it's a great league to show what you can do. Motherwell is a good club, a friendly and family-type club. He'll be perfect there." Warnock revealed he used to joke about using McCall's status at Ibrox to get him the Rangers job but it never worked out - and he was gutted when they eventually split. He said: "I was disappointed when Stuart left me three years ago but to be fair to him he had to make a decision. "He loved Bradford, that club was the love of his life when he played for them. I think the offer just pulled on his heart strings too much and he couldn't turn it down. I think he learned a lot with me. I gave him a lot of freedom and I hope it will stand him in good stead. "I didn't say to Stuart at the time but I thought he was leaving too soon. But when you're a young man you want to get on with your life, you want to get on the managerial ladder and I accepted that. "It's funny but me and him always talked about managing Rangers together. I said to him that was the only chance I'd get of getting the job at Ibrox - if he came with me." McCall didn't waste any time getting up to speed on his new club and their SPL opponents. He watched Well in action at Parkhead last night after taking in Hamilton's game against Aberdeen yesterday afternoon. His first match in charge will be against Accies at New Douglas Park on Saturday.
  10. Interesting slant from Mr Lennon on the sending-off......
  11. On the subject of Miller, had a wee laugh to myself when Marco Negri yesterday compared Miller to himself as goal machines. 20 goals in the Premiership is a goal machine. 20 goals in the SPL playing for either Celtic or Rangers is probably a poor return.
  12. If you can get sent off for tapping someone on the shoulder (and, despite what the Ref said, that's about all that happened) then Canning should just ask the Ref for a red soon as the game starts.
  13. Maybe early on, but it was never, ever gonna be 10-0. Never.
  14. Who said 10-0 Celtic? FFS, have some confidence in your own team. Might not be playing well, but they are a bunch of honest individuals who gave everything. Now we have management in place, lets take things forward.
  15. I see Kilmarnock have the lead at Inverness. Not Sammon for a change.
  16. Given Chick's previous attempts (Chisholm and Dodds to name but one) it'd be a surprise to find him accurate about anything.
  17. Scott Burns tweets........ Stuart McCall is the new Motherwell manager. He has agreed a one-year rolling contract McCall has already starting work taking in this afternoon's Hamilton v Aberdeen game with an eye on the New Year game McCall will consider his options for No. 2. He will hold talks with a Scottish-based candidate before the end of the week
  18. Not all bad just now......... Blackburn could let Nick Blackman stay at Motherwell Blackman has scored 10 goals in 16 appearances for Motherwell Blackburn manager Steve Kean is happy for striker Nick Blackman to extend his loan at Fir Park, according to Motherwell interim boss Gordon Young. Blackman's loan spell is nearing an end as the Scottish Premier League club continue to search for a new manager. But Young said of the 21-year-old: "I've already spoken to Steve Kean. "He has intimated they would look to re-sign him and they would have no objection to loaning him back to Motherwell. He is keen to stay here." Blackman, who has scored 10 goals in 16 appearances for Motherwell since joining them in August, is due to return to Ewood Park after the New Year derby away to Hamilton. I think Motherwell would be keen to have him Motherwell caretaker manager Gordon YoungA decision about whether that would be extended has been made more difficult by managerial upheaval at both clubs. Sam Allardyce was surprisingly sacked by Blackburn's new owners, who subsequently handed caretaker Kean, their Scottish first-team coach, the job full-time. Craig Brown and assistant Archie Knox resigned from Motherwell to take over at Aberdeen. Several leading candidates ruled themselves out of the running to replace them, but the Fir Park board are expected to appoint former Bradford manager Stuart McCall on Thursday. Meanwhile, the end to Blackman's loan deal has been approaching along with the short-term contracts handed to forward Alan Gow and Marc Fitzpatrick. "Dialogue has been struck," said Young. "How far down the road we are, I'm not sure, but the fact we're talking is positive." Of Blackman, the caretaker boss added: "I think Motherwell would be keen to have him." Blackman began his career at Macclesfield before joining Blackburn in January 2009. He then had loan spells with Blackpool and Oldham Athletic before finding his scoring touch with Motherwell.
  19. Think we'd all like to hear this officially - please!
  20. "We understand"" I think they said. Until the club confirm it I guess it's all just rumour.
  21. Nothing overly negative yet (it's an official forum right enough....) BCFC This one's a bit different. Though "much lower than "ahem" Scottish football" comment was amusing. How low are Bradford these days? Been able to take your eyes off that avatar yet........? Forum
  22. Calderwood wasn't a massive success in his relatively short-lived stint at Kilmarnock. Only stayed up due to the width of a post really. Not saying he wouldn't be with us, but whoever gets the job is going to have to hit the ground running. McCall does fit the bill in knowing the lower leagues down South, Calderwood does not in that respect.
  23. If McCall is appointed, he will need to get off to a flyer. Can't imagine many will give him time to settle in.
  24. If McCourt was any good he'd be Premiership. Same with Weiss, only plays when the TV cameras are around.
