  1. According to Red Bull's offishel website, Luc is still there....... Luc Though according to this, his contract runs out just shortly..... More Luc
  2. We were doing the Do I Not Know That quiz and everything was going great....until it all went tits up. They only just managed to finish the competition and that was squeezing the filming in before the plug was pulled. I'm not sure they even managed to air the last couple of proggies. Surprised no-one picked the format up, especially Sky as it was superb fun and quite entertaining.
  3. With Adriannse having left Red Bull Salzburg Nijholt would perhaps be about to leave as well, it's not that often a new manager decides to keep on the current assistant. Pretty sure, from what I hear and know, Luc would walk to Fir Park from Austria for the interview.......
  4. I'm hoping that ar*e gets the Hibs job. Perfect for a complete git.
  5. Sadly 'tis what I heard too. For all the flack Tel received, I seem to recall he spent more time at Fir Park than he did at home.
  6. I hope we don't make an appointment in haste. Invite applications, I know we need someone in before the Euro games but we also want to make sure it's done right.
  7. Mebbes now we can get someone who aint gonna constantly want to be elsewhere. Aye, he's done a great job at Fir Park. But, during the entire time he was Boss, how much of it did we spend wondering when he'd leave compared to any other manager we've ever had?
  8. Lies, damned lies, and complete bullshit in the papers so it seems. Wish, like everyone else, this would get sorted quickly as we really don't hav ethe time to be pissed about once again....... Media reports that Tony Mowbray and Henrik Larsson are heading to Celtic are both wide of the mark on Saturday morning. The Scottish tabloids are claiming Mowbray has beaten off competition from Mark McGhee to take the vacant managerial post left by Gordon Strachan at Celtic Park. Meanwhile, it was also speculated that legendary Swedish goalscorer Larsson would return to take his coaching badges at the club – after recently revealing he is nearing a return to Scotland. However, West Brom have denied the Mowbray stories on Saturday morning, while Larsson’s agent has been equally as negative about his client’s return. "These rumours are not true at all," agent Rob Jansen told the Scottish Daily Mail. "Henrik is still playing for Helsinborg in Sweden and it's impossible for him to break his contract or be part of anything happening at Celtic right now." Switching focus to Mowbray, a West Brom spokesman insisted: "I can confirm that we have received no approach from Celtic regarding Tony Mowbray.”
  9. The Telegraph says tonight.... Mark McGhee was installed as odds-on favourite, but there was no movement on that front on Friday night. Tony Mowbray and Owen Coyle all remain on the club’s list of possible successors to Strachan, to the frustration of West Brom, Motherwell, Burnley and Aberdeen. Mowbray started at the top of the bookies’ list of candidates but drifted off the pace as a considerable weight of money took McGhee to the status of odds-on favourite by early Friday afternoon. Steve Nicol, the former Liverpool and Scotland defender, also appeared on the radar on Friday night. The 47-year-old, who has coached in the United States with Boston Bulldogs and New England Revolution since 1999, has established himself in the United States but has never lost his Scottish accent or a desire to measure himself at some stage against European coaches. Telegraph Sport can confirm that McGhee is the principal back-up option but that he would be asked to become manager if Henrik Larsson agrees to become assistant manager, with Neil Lennon as first team coach. The advantages of such an arrangement from Celtic’s point of view are that it would be less expensive than the compensation agreements that would have to be negotiated with either West Bromwich Albion or Burnley – thus freeing up a degree of cash for transfer movements – and that Larsson, who is still playing with Helsingborg, could be registered as a squad member for the hazardous Champions League qualifiers in July and August, effectively bolstering the team with a figure who remains talismanic, even at the advanced age of 37. What is also clear is that none of the three main candidates would be greeted with unfettered and unanimous enthusiasm by the Celtic support. However, the fans’ yearning for another Martin O’Neill, who stated on his arrival at Parkhead in 2000 that his father had told him to “crawl over broken glass’’ to take the Celtic job, cannot be easily satisfied on the resources currently available to the board. A manager like David Moyes, experienced in the Premier League and tipped for bigger things when his time at Everton comes to an end, has passed the stage where the job would satisfy him – he was considered as a possible replacement for O’Neill and was interested at the time – but was subsequently secured for further service at Goodison by the sort of contract that Celtic cannot come close to matching. Motherwell, meanwhile, are braced for McGhee’s departure, either to Celtic or Aberdeen. The Pittodrie club have put their own search for a manager on hold until Celtic decide whether or not they want McGhee, who is their preferred candidate to succeed Jimmy Calderwood at Pittodrie. One likely target for Motherwell would be Terry Butcher, whose Inverness Caley Thistle side narrowly failed in their attempt to avoid relegation from the Scottish Premier League. If Coyle has a change of heart – he has yet to sign the extended contract offered to him by Burnley as a reward for steering them to the Premier League – the Turf Moor side would be interested in Alan Irvine of Preston North End, as would West Brom, should Mowbray resolve to move back to Scotland. Roberto Martinez of Swansea was an early target for Celtic but is now expected to join Wigan Athletic early next week, and John Hughes, the Falkirk manager, has declared his desire to be considered by the Welsh club, for whom he played for nine months in 1989. Yet another club without a manager, Hibernian, are expected to announce the appointment next week of the man to follow Mixu Paatelainen, who quit at the end of last month.
  10. Noel Whelan believes he could turn Aberdeen into the Arsenal of Scottish football if the Pittodrie club give him the chance to become manager. The former Dons player, 34, has already revealed plans to form a dream team with Ron Atkinson if appointed. He told the Daily Record: "Arsenal would be my blueprint for Aberdeen. That's how I'd make them play. I'd make them good to watch and hard to beat."
  11. Today's Rancid, for what it's worth.... Aberdeen close in on Mark McGhee for manager hotseat Jun 4 2009 Ian Orr ABERDEEN yesterday gave the clearest indication yet that Mark McGhee is the man they want to be the club's new manager. Dons' director of football issued a statement in which he admitted their search for a successor to Jimmy Calderwood had hit a stumbling block because their No.1 target is also in the running for the race to become the new Celtic boss. And as the Aberdeen fans grow frustrated by the delay in appointing a new gaffer, Miller pleaded for patience to ensure the right man is brought to Pittodrie. He said: "After our place in the Europa League was achieved we have spent the subsequent 10 days pulling out all the stops to ensure no time was wasted but the simple fact is these things do take a bit of time. "The fact there are several senior vacancies up for grabs at present has probably not helped either, particularly when quite a few names are being linked with several positions at the same time. "I can completely understand fans are becoming frustrated as time moves on and believe me I share that frustration. "However, obviously we could not even begin the task of finding someone until after the end of the season as both Jimmy and myself had agreed the first priority was to clinch a return to Europe. We did not want anything to divert from that focus by anything coming out before the Hibs game. "I am working flat out to finalise matters and as soon as I have done that we will be in a position to make an announcement ahead of what I am confident will be an exciting era for the club. Until that time I do urge all supporters to be patient, although I know it's not easy. "The fact nobody has been appointed yet has not affected plans for the new season. We are currently finalising our pre-season plans and the players are all aware of what is expected of them in terms of fitness levels on their return. "We are getting to the endgame as quickly as possible. But there are a number of steps which we have to go through to be sure we have the right man for the job. "It has been a lengthy task simply going through the dozens of applications. They have come from people currently working in the SPL, former international managers, former Scotland players and ex-international players from throughout Europe - some with UEFA Cup winners' medals. "The high quality of applicant only underlines the fact this is one of the top jobs in Scottish football."
  12. Saturday mornings, Sunday mornings, Friday evenings, or 2 in the morning. Anything is possible with them I guess.
  13. With the season starting much later and ending much earlier than the one just finished, there are going to be a good few midweek matches coming up. Add to that if clubs make the Europa league, Champions League, progress in cup competitions, it's going to be one busy, busy season...... From the SPL..... </H1>
  14. But this would not only give Sky complete control of UK footie, it'd also remove the only real competition they have for football.
  15. Cue Sky to the rescue. Wouldn't surprise me if they came in and offered a cash-do-what-we-tell-ya deal.
  16. This will affect others far worse than ourselves. Talking to a Kilmarnock fan today he confirmed to me they would've disappeared had they gone down. This could be the straw which forces Scottish Football to change radically.
  17. Best? Going to Greyskull, there to make up the numbers, there to just play second fiddle whilst the locals conga-d to George Square. Stuffing them 2-0 and it took them over FOUR minutes at the start of the game to get out their own half. That was absolute magic. Worst? Getting humped 5-0 up in Perth at the start of the Davies reign. There have been others, but that had me about as angry as I've ever been as a 'Well fan. It was bizarre that 10 days later we comfortably saw off a star-studded Rangers side at Fir Park!

    So It Begins...

Well, it would make the Shellic fans at long last realise that when Motherwell (and other teams) go to Legoland we see only a portion of the game thanks to their ridiculous positioning of the away fans!
  22. Wullie Irvine from when I began to watch the 'Well. Never got a chance under Jock "Sevilllle Oranje" Wallace.
  23. Guan yersels ladies! Great to hear of the success.
