  1. And, frustratingly, doesn't appear to realize what opportunities he has wasted. The guy has the ability to play at a high level, but hasn't quite worked out that you still need to work at the game, even when you have the talent.
  2. I remember. And we were daft enough to watch it after we got back in from the match!
  3. Of course we don't want Motherwell to lose. We just have difficulty seeing them win this particular game. That is based on our SPL record and, even more importantly, cup record against them. Without looking it up, do you know when was the last time we beat Rangers in a cup tie?
  4. As painful as some of those are, the ones I'd really like to delete are games like losing 1 - 0 at home to Berwick Rangers (who took time-wasting to a new level), or 0 - 0 at Boghead on a wet and windy Wednesday evening. Although the Airdrie semi wasn't fun.
  5. In no particular order: McRae Pettigrew Wark McAllister Marinello
  6. I hope you had a sneaky wee fiver on that.
  7. It's not "no team", it's specifically Motherwell. Our record against them has been nothing short of abysmal in recent memory. There is no logic to it, except perhaps, we have difficulty dealing with their particular style of play. The last game at Ibrox is a perfect example - play decent for long stretches and still conspire to lose 4 goals.
  8. Or they could just estimate the shortfall the same way as they can do if they think someone who earns a lot of tips is cheating them. No counting required...tit.
  9. And the taxman obviously hasn't heard that everybody does it, so just lets everybody get away with it.
  10. Yes. That's why I wrote what I wrote.
  11. Anyone except Rangers, unfortunately.
  12. Read one of the Accies players saying they need to 'get in our faces'. That will suit us fine, and help us to a 3-1 win. If they change their tactics and decide to stick 10 men across the penalty box, then we will toil to a 0-0.
  13. Quote from Gow in The Scotsman today: Which sounds promising - finances permitting, of course.
  14. I can just about deal with that. It's the losing Cup Finalists possibly getting a place that is the worst idea for me.
  15. Agreed. For a team with their away record over the past 17 months, to beat them twice in consecutive games is a good showing.
  16. I was only listening to commentary yesterday and it sounded like Gow was doing well. Unfortunately, however, it doesn't surprise me that he was taking abuse. As long as I have been going to Fir Park, there has been a fairly significant section of support that has been of the mindset that you need to be box-to-box and tackling like Psycho to be of any value. Guys like McLair and McAllister used to take similar pelters quite regularly.
  17. Time to sit back and let Utd back in the game
  18. Europe definitely has its advantages for the club. The chance to generate extra income and some incentive for potential new players to come on board. I'm sure it also has a positive effect on player development - it's always good to play against different styles. The domestic fixtures, however, are our bread and butter and having seen us pick up the Scottish Cup already, I'd wouldn't mind seeing us pick up the League Cup too
  19. If you finish above the relegation zone by accumulating sufficient points during a league campaign, but get relegated during a playoff, I doubt you are going to be making more money.
  20. Play-offs are, indeed, a joke. The entire point of a league system is to reward consistency over a season.
  21. It is definitely a minority sport, but I think that was one of the reasons they tried to revamp it a few years ago.
  22. Maybe not directly comparable, but apparently when the Irish switched to summer football there was zero increase in attendences. Of course, it will be more pleasant to some, but it didn't affect the financials. Personally, I'd prefer to keep it a winter game (with a shutdown), but to have terracing so you can walk about if it gets nippy. I never felt really cold when I was standing.
  23. You and me both. The past few years it has been embarrassing to see some players unable to settle even in England. With one or two exceptions, there are far too many that are just happy to make a comfortable living and unwilling to take the next step in their careers to improve themselves. Look what Paul Lambert achieved when he went to Germany. Not only did it raise his game technically, he came back with a Champions League Winner's Medal.
  24. As one of the overseas fans, I have been fortunate enough to see a preview. No Motherwell games as yet, but so far it looks pretty impressive.
  25. One game at a timeƩ>
