I expect coaches to be a bit more flexible these days and, to some extent, they tend to follow trends.
The high pressing style is a more recent trend, as is the short passes out the box. 10 years ago most coaches were doing neither, but now almost all of them are doing the latter.
Like most jobs, if you don't develop your own skills you'll get left behind.
