  1. I very nearly decided not to bother with Inverness away again after last year. The police on the train back down were an absolute joke. One of them, an Aberdeen fan, was talking to us at the back of the carriage and seemed genuinely embarrassed by the way his colleagues were going about things.

But then, we're all football fans so we're all just automatically criminals anyway.

Must have been the same train. Older polis officer with grey hair was on a mad power trip, pushin folk about n that. I stood up to the guy and told him that he can't just push folk around for no good reason and ended up having to sit at the front of the train by myself for the last hour n a half, was like being back at school! They also questioned me about what some guy I was talkin to was taking, didnt even know the guy but he just appeared drunk to me anyway, officer power trip was convinced he was oot his nut on something.

We were absolutely fine on the way up, sat drinkin with our carry outs on the table in front with no trouble at all.

  2. On Motherwell FC website:

NOTE: British Transport police have informed the club that there will be alcohol bans on the 10:11 am train leaving from Glasgow to Inverness on Saturday and also the 18:43 train leaving from Inverness on the way home.

    Not liking this!!

I got caught drinking on the train back down, got a letter from the polis and from the club warning me that my behavior was "tarnishing the Motherwell fan's good reputation". My mate got a £60 fine from the polis, 2 months after the trip. Bad end to what was a good away day last year but enough to stop us going up this year.

  3. Hutchy needs to come back into the team, best defender we have. I would drop either of the two centre backs playing at the moment. Harsh on them yes but has to be done.

    I totally agree.

I think Hutch is one of our best and potentially one of our most valuable assets and we have to use him when we can before he inevitably moves on sooner or later.

Hutch adds another dimension from Craggs and Clancy with his pace and physicality.

  4. id go for this

    ---------------------------randy-------------------------

    hately------------page

    hump------------lasley----------law--------------murphy daley

    --------------higdon--------------mchugh--------------

as much as i love jenno he deserves to be dropped and clancy just ain't a centre back so page deserves his chance as does mchugh as we looked a lot more balanced when he came on last night.

i thought humphrey was good last night so i'd stick with him as well as murphy for now

Couple of minor changes to that and i'd be delighted but we all know McCall well send out pretty much his perception of his best 11 which doesn't match the above. We will really struggle if he doesnt start rotating players to some degree depending on injury's, form or need of game time.

  5. Randolph

    Hateley Craggs Clancy Hammy

    Hump Forbes Lasley Law

    Higdon McHugh

I'd be reasonably happy with that team although I really think Page deserves his chance, defence has been looking shakey recently to say the least and maybe Page is the man to sure it up a bit.

We all know that Stuart McCall knows his strongest 11 and likes to stick to it but although we dont have the biggest squad there are backup players who I think could make a difference to the team and if they keep getting little/no game time when there are injury's and players out of sorts I think it is detrimental to the club and the development of these players.

  6. Must say that Forrest looked like a very good player on Sunday and cant really understand why everyone on here is so against him, maybe time some people took off the claret and amber specs. I think overall Murphy and Forrest are at a similar level although different types of players but the main thing they both need to work on is consistency.

  7. As has been mentioned, Humphrey came good when he got dropped last season. Solution: -

    --------------Las----Jenno------------------

    Daley-------------------------------------Law

    --------------Murphy----Higdon-------------

I think Daley would be a great addition as he can play on both wings, as a striker or a right back

  8. My usual pesimistic work mate has been rather boyant over recent weeks and was tipping St Midden for a top 6 finish. He just stood up and said to me: -

"Get your money on St Mirren to finish 2nd or 3rd bottom this season, Darren McGregor is out for 9 months. Congratulations on your win this Saturday"

He will be a major loss for them.

  9. Just yous wait and see! OK it's early in the season but, assuming we bring in a player or two and keep Randolph and Murphy, why the hell can't we?!

Negativity for negativity's sake. Why is it that we cannot see ourselves as 'best of the rest'? It's already negative enough to assume (unfortunately correctly) that the extent of any non-OF team's ambitions is 3rd. Why

I've seen enough signs to suggest that we will be in amongst it and I would be surprised if Motherwell and Dundee United weren't fighting it out for 3rd come the end of the season.

You seem to have written off Hearts! I think once their new manger settles in (if he's given the time), with the squad they have, they must be favourites for 3rd. It's a long season Pingu and we are only 3 games in.

  10. Very much inclined to go with this.

This is where I think some of Mr McCalls' best work is currently being done at the moment... He's boxing clever by not shouting from the rooftops as we have media overload on St Midden as a 'footballing' entity of Falkirk proportions - they peddled that for long and weary and I don't think any in our support were fooled as to that particular myth either.

Yes, they have signed a higher calibre of player than they are used to, at what cost? To sniff the gusset of the top six? Risky strategy? No better chance with poorer squads around them. Time will tell. Doubt many on this board would have any of their squad make our first eleven.

1 nil in our favour will do me  Do that each week and the league is ours Buleev!

    Darren McGregor over Craggs....

Like the look of Hasselbaink so far but don't know if he would be a starter for us although Law, Murphy, Hasselbaink and Humphrey would be a pretty frightening attack.

  11. Would also note that it looks like St Midden may also be without their player of the year from last year, Darren McGregor. Loosing Hasselbaink is a big blow for them, has so far looked very livley and has given pace to their attacks.

I would put Carswell or Forbes in centre mid and give them a half each.

    2-1 Motherwell.

  12. Has that been confirmed about Gunning and, is so, is it a loan deal? I don't think it would have anything to do with a lack of our ambition seeing as he seems to have been used as a bargaining chip. Dundee Utd had something Blackburn wanted, we didn't.

Last I heard, he was training with them yesterday and they had offered him a 3 year deal.
