  1. Having previously lived in London for nine years and making friends with Spurs fans and attending matches with them at WHL and Europe they referred to their team as the Yids and classed themselves as the Yid army From daily telegraph 2014 Using the word ‘Yid’ at White Hart Lane will no longer be an arrestable offence, the The Metropolitan Police has announce The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust (THST) asked the police for their position on the controversial term in a police and safety forum meeting last Monday. They were told anti-semitic holocaust songs directed at Spurs fans, which are an offence, are different from chants sung by Spurs fans including the Y-word, which are not. Constable Steve Payne, Football Intelligence Officer for the Met, said fans would still be arrested for using the Y-word if a complaint was made against them. The FA issued guidelines for supporters’ behaviour and said the use of the word was “derogatory and offensive” and could amount to a criminal offence, even if it was being sung by supporters of Tottenham, who traditionally drew a large following from the Jewish community. The FA’s intervention last September prompted a fierce response from Spurs supporters, who insisted they should be the ones to decide whether it is time to end the chants. “If Spurs fans genuinely are going to stop using this word then it should be our decision,” chairman Darren Alexander said at the time. “We sincerely believe that no Spurs fan ever uses the Y-word or shouts ‘Yid Army’ in an effort to offend anyone.” Spurs supporters have always maintained that the word ‘Yid’ in has never been used a malicious way, despite its offensive connotations. The word is used affectionately by supporters of Tottenham, who proudly chant “Yid Army” in response to the perception they have a large Jewish following. But it is used as a term of anti-semitic abuse by rival fans. A THST statement, issued in response to the FA’s warning, read: “THST is categorically against ejections and banning orders for use of the term by Tottenham supporters in a match environment. “Our view has always been that should Spurs’ fans’ use of the Yid identity come to an end, this should be as a result of the feeling among the Spurs community that it was time to move on. "This issue has always been of the utmost importance to us and while we recognise that Spurs fans use of the Y-word and associated identity may have caused some upset to members of the Jewish community, we sincerely believe no Spurs fan uses the term in a malicious way.” It said: “We do not in any way condone racist language being used by football fans and we are aware of the recent media reporting of racist abuse being used towards opposition fans during matches. “However this was never one of those cases. The word ‘Yid’ simply means ‘Jew’. It was and is still used as a term of endearment by many Jewish people. "Its use in a derogatory way was started by racists in Nazi Germany. This deplorable action should not have the power to forever change its meaning into an abusive term. “The word ‘Yid’ was adopted over 30 years ago by Spurs fans to combat racist abuse aimed towards them at football by opposing fans. “It developed into a strong identity status that brought Jewish and non-Jewish Spurs fans together in an incredible show of unity that is admired worldwide. That is what fighting racism within football should be about.” On March 7 the Crown Prosecution Service discontinued cases made against three Totttenham fans arrested for using the Y-word. Eight arrests were made last season for racially aggravated offences at White Hart Lane.

  9. Signed for Accrington Stanley....................who are they ???????
  10. Think the sportscene analysis of the ugly sisters game was Madden made a c@nt of the 3 major decisions ..........but other than that he had a great game !!!!!! no suprise our penalty issue never made it............no mention of it on BBC match report online....... I'm still flabbergasted that he awarded a foul for Hiv's
  11. From BBC Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson: "We didn't do enough to win the game. I thought we were laboured and predictable and passed the ball too slowly without any purpose. "There were a few people didn't do their jobs in the first half but that's the level of player we need to recruit so we have to teach them. We didn't lose because of the penalties. We lacked real men tonight." "Few people didn't do their jobs"........including yourself.......you know what you are going to get against Hertz .... A physical battle the team selection/ tactics were wrong from the start
  12. From BBC Scotland live updates Any guesses? Aberdeen 0-2 Rijeka (0-4) Curtis Main receives the ball a couple of yards inside his own half, turns and volleys the ball forward, which, eventually, makes its way towards the Rijeka goalkeeper. What he was trying is anyone's guess. Does it count as an attempt at goal?
  13. Out on loan to Engerland will be his fate
  14. The bizarre tactic of having every player behind the ball/ inside our area when Livy had a free kick or long throw in nearly cost us dearly near the end as we had no out ball/ could not clear our lines........yet when we were defending corners put two player up the park We should not have plastic pitches in our top flight........totally agree with BBC's Preston referee was very poor IMHO ........that was his third top flight game ,and it showed .........2 previous were bottom split game in May(3-2 Livy) way out of his depth Livingston head coach Gary Holt tells BBC Scotland: "I thought it was a really good game of football. There was no quarter asked or given by both sides" dont know what game he was watching
  15. Cracking save from the keeper from Marvin..........then he threw one into the net marvin subbed 70 minute ".....thought he had a no bad game
  16. i the away stands are in blue........Motherwell support to enter via turnstile 11&12...... Sections N,M,L,K seat just over 1000 if there are numbers like Dumbarton 1200 it will be chaos .........home support have access to the whole West Stand via 4 turnstiles and hospitality It could be easily solved by opening 13&14 or 8,9&10 .......as Sinjy says we are the "paying customers" Hopefully it will all go smoothly...........as my lifts son is working night shift and we ain't planning to leave Mwell to 1.45
  17. Don't think I've ever been a football ground an hour before kick off in the forty odd years I've been going to matches.......last year was very early for me Why don't Livy open the another 2 turnstiles on the side of the ground where we are seated, last season the crowds for both games there was under 2000......why the need for tickets when the ground is only going to be a quarter full ???
  18. Fully expect the same shambles as last seasons league cup tie.........only 2 turnstiles open which serve the areas mentioned N,M,L,K we arrived and joined the q at just after 230pm and just made the kick off
