Ive been thinking about the small budget that the club has to work with in order to maintain a decent standard playing squad, and times are tougher now than ever. But I have been having a wee think, and came up with the following idea, as the description suggests, it might be a stupid idea!
Theres a good core of Motherwell fans who want to have the best interests of the club at heart, and bleed Claret and Amber. But I was wondering if theres enough of us to make a committment to the club. A committment to provide them with the funding towards a players wages. If enough of us committed to paying £ or £10 a month for the next year it could be the difference between gettina a new player or a loan addition in next Januarys transfer window.
500 fans paying £5 per month into an account equates to £2500 a month, by next year that could be £30000 to give the club to fund a decent players wages. The reason Im saying a year is we couldnt guarentee everyone could pay every month, so we would need to wait and see exactly how much was there.
Obviously this is just a vague idea, and the logistics would take some looking into, like setting up a bank account where the money can be safely held for this purpose, and a committment from the club that the money would fund a player etc.
Every little helps, and if it meant that 1 extra player could be funded, I'd be willing to pay £60 over the next year!
But was just curious if people might get behind this idea and if it was worth trying to look at the finer points and making some sort of proposal to put to the club?
That would be a good idea........30 years ago.....at the minute some "footballer's"/ parents/agents..... seem to think that football is the way to making a fortune out of football clubs.!!!!!!
I woluld have loved to make the money I'm making just now,(Or at an time since I left schooll in 1979)just for playing football !
Not slagging your idea off, because I think it may become a reality for the likes of our club, but untill the premiership start to take in to account that a football player can earn £100,000 per week playing football, when the average working man/women takes 4-5 YEARS to make that money....football is fucked !!!!!!
The whole thing cascades down to the grass roots......Smellic and h**s have made their beds and now have to lie in them......you cant live above your means (Unless for alcohol
) but this seems to be the way of most football clubs just now!
Agents have ruined football putting stupid ideas into many players heads that they are above their station all to line their own pockets......some people should be happy to play/be involved in football for a living instead of working shifts etcetc.

One of my h*n workmates was telling me,that for their cup game against Killie on Monday,they are not opening up the Broomlawn stand !!!
This is down to the fact that Killie would not agree to let the ticket price go below £20

Not happy with the chance of going back to a 10 team SPL......but unfortunately as most people have commented on The bigot bros/Sky want 4 old firm games a season, if not we will lose money on the tv deal,where most of the money comes from.
We all want 16 team league,summer football,attractive football,more realistic prices etc etc.
But in the current climate/product provided/costs etc etc I dont think thats ever going to
happen,majority of SPL chaimen will not bite the hand that feeds them and will vote for the 10 team SPL.
The current format has been in exsitance for the past 12 years,and won 2 x 6 by the Old firm and only Hearts have managed to be runners up once and were still 17 points adrift.The old firm like it that way
I dont know what the answer is ......but it aint 10 team SPL !!!!

With the current economic climate I'm increasingly coming round to the idea of inhibiting spectator access to the POD, demolishing the East Stand and replacing it with a structure similar to those at Aalborg (the middle pic), Ravenhill, Esbjerg, Viborg
Getting the local council, education authority, and other partners onboard is crucial.
Would be nice if we could afford them !!!!!

Agree Sutton from the start would have been the better choice against a very physical Accies defense...... Gow is not the player for a physical style game,never has and never will be, but thought he was much better than Blackman and Hump who have done very little in the last few games IMHO.

Close the POD then. Retain access to the Director's Box, but no fan access, transfering those who normally frequent the POD to the Cooper.
Lest face it .............. some time soon, it could be the more viable alternative
and one taken by the authorities .......... Watford and Preston currently suffer from such an issue. Closer to home, Spartans had that very same decision scyth their SFL aspirations.Old main stand was demolished and replaced in 2008 at Preston,shame we couldnot do the same !

Starting to get a bit concerned that the game might be off tomorrow.
Live about mile and a half from Fir Park, woke up to find my street, pavements and roads a sheet of black ice,now with rain on top of that, the place is like a skating rink and with freezing temp forecast overnight !
Can see Strathclydes finest calling it of for public saftey reasons

Agree , bu as we all know,its not a stand its a terrace with seats!
The last time I was in it was Skippy sunday,so I cant comment on the current conditions.
But agree prices are excessive for the product provided at the moment in SPL......but would the club survive if the prices drop ???? Would it put more bums on seats at £15 ????
