  1. I work my Manger's coat and Should have won it by half-time.
  2. He was sitting near me in the PoD Stand, so he, definitely saw them.
  3. I'm sorry, I don't know, but I doubt it.
  4. "Gamesmanship" like this is even evident in kids' matches, too. Influence of things kids see in televised matches, perhaps? I hate this stuff but as it's unlikely to disappear, I think we need to be smart in our approach. Take Martin Boyle and Porteous as examples on Saturday: the former always leant forward to an almost horizontal position when moving forward with the ball, so he went down as soon as he was tackled and got free kicks and the latter ensured he fouled his opponent almost every time as he fell down and got free kicks. Newel gets away with fly fouls in every Hibs game. As for Hearts antics at Fir Park, Nelison was instructing his team in the "dark arts" throughout, and never away from the fourth official. I hate suggesting it, but maybe our players need to start adopting similar tactics against these two teams and the Glasgow uglies.
  5. I've just arranged to pick up my ticket at Easter Road. Ticket office at Fir Park offered me that option as I can't get to Motherwell, before 16h00 today.
  6. Certainly about their feelings towards Jack Ross. Wonder if something happened between the home and way legs to AZ Alkmaar. Their performances since suggest the old cliche of losing the dressing room might be apt for what happened.
  7. He's not under fire. Seems no-one is allowed to make any comments about Kelly unless it's to worship him as it seems remarks about his ability for dealing with high balls and distribution and comparisons with previous keepers (choosing Chapman for this, is of course one option) are taken as unacceptable.
  8. We've had better keepers that never enjoyed the adulation Kelly receives. His distribution is poor and he's often slow to spot an opportunity to start an attack.
  9. I wonder what the impact it has on the performance of defenders when they have a keeper (who most fans think can do no wrong) continually fails to even attempt to come and claim balls into the box?
  10. I used to work with SPFA reps on EU projects and they told me that players make most money out of signing-on fees when they make moves, thus the more moves = more signing-on fees = more money. A short career in which they have to optimise their earnings for themselves and their families.
  11. I think that's more likely than it being her negotiating the release of Owen Coyle from Queens Park.
  12. Drove past Fir Park, early this evening and believe I saw Leeann Dempster's car. Could it be Owen Coyle on shortlist. Hard to believe as his buddy Willie Haughey's bankrolling Queens Park, so they'll have more money than us.
  13. The guy who's a regular co-commentator on Rangers TV and made constant sneering comments about Motherwell when we drew there.
  14. I used to live in the Borders and became acquainted with Hamish Deans when he was associated with the club. I used to drive him up to matches in return for a decent seat and a nosebag at Fir Park. I remember the first time I did so - it was at home to Aberdeen - and I was wearing a green tie. I had been with Hamish and some other directors for less than 5 minutes when I was "half-jokingly" told (not by Hamish but someone whom I won't name) that a green tie was not appropriate for Motherwell and was given a club tie and asked to remove the green one. I responded with as much light-heartedness as I could muster that having attended matches since 1964, the colour of my tie had no impact on my capacity to support Motherwell, and that I'd be going to Fir Park long after the Board had moved on. So, I get Star Sail's point, I have the same debates with Celtic-minded friends and my Rangers-supporting mates can't understand why I support all Scottish clubs (even the hateful Jambos) in European competition.
  15. My son's in Finland and Finnish friends and family are telling him that rumours in Finland are that Simo is being considered. Simo is significantly more highly rated than Mixu P amongst Finns who are texting me.
  16. Does anyone know if match is available online? My son is in Finland on holiday and would like to see it. Is the only option to take out an international subscription to Motherwell TV.
  17. I realise that this is yet another piece of speculation and I'm not putting this forward as my choice nor can I claim that it's true, but I have heard from a couple of folk who claim links with the club that it'll be O'Dea as manager with Steven McManus as his assistant.
  18. Despite the Sligo results and my lack of faith in Alexander or Lucketti, I've just bought a ticket for Sunday. If as has been inferred and directly suggested by others, Alexander has alienated some current and former players, I expect Robinson's team to be well-motivated and ours to go through the motions. However, perhaps, as my fan experience since 1964 has shown, the Mighty can pull off a result when everything else points to them losing............Somehow, I doubt it this time and if we sneak a win, it's likely to be because we get a goal from an early set piece and Alexander takes off all the forwards and packs the defence for the remainder of the match.
  19. I'm of the vintage you describe as older fans. Whilst at uni (more than a few years back) I did research into football violence in Scotland and two things that emerged were (1) Hearts supporters were ranked number one for most likely to cause trouble by all other Scottish teams and (2) Arrest rates at Fir Park were the highest of all grounds. Former was well-deserved rating in my opinion and latter I think was a more reflection of the macho culture of Strathclyde Police (Lanarkshire).
  20. I love beating that lot more than anyone else. I remember that game, too, and having bottles of p**h flung at me and my mates as we made our way to Tynecastle in December for the first leg of the semi-final. Ironically, about 20 years later I was offered a seat on the bus run by the Borders branch of their supporters' club for matches at Fir Park when I lived down there......I graciously refused the offer.
  21. If Daily Record's stats are correct, there will be a few bookings on Saturday. David Munro (the ref for the match) has officiated in 31 games, issuing 127 yellow and five red cards.
  22. I was making a general point about what, judging by his actions so far, seems to be Alexander's preferred approach. I think my second posting - not this one - makes that clear.
  23. I don't expect many of the young boys to make it as it's the nature of competitive sport. Motherwell have a good record but so far, the current brains trust on the bench have, Cornelius apart, focused on bringing folk in rather than bringing folk through.
