Given that we have no real pace or natural width, whats folks opinions on playing a narrow 4-2-3-1? Vigurs Anier and McFadden are all clever footballers. Surely they can find the spaces required to play thru teams instead of around and behind? Would this get them closer to Sutton to give him the support he is crying out for? Thoughts?

Thoroughly looking forward to this game for no other reason than its someone different to play. Impossible to say how the game will go. Can only hope some serious work on the training ground this week pays off

Heading up to Fir Park for the game tomorrow. Taking the car if anyone is interested sharing transport. 3pm kick off so leaving Irvine about 1.30pm.

When will folk on here start to realise that our players cant play their normal game in europe because they are up against superior opposition who are quicker, stronger and pressure the ball. Thats what forces the mistakes we continue to make. Tactics can play there part, and we could have gone for it tonight at 1-0 but that would have left more space at the back which they proved last week they have the ability to exploit. We did ok tonight. The og and the penalty miss are hard to take, but its great experience for the players. We wont play another team as good as that this season. People need to be realistic about our level. I still think we will have a good season and I would love a tilt at the Scottish Cup. We have a good manager and some good players. Lets try and enjoy them.

Mmm......what about Scotland v England Euro play off 1999? I totally went to Wembley thinking we could get a real pumping, but we got the first goal and they sh@t it. Didnt get thru, but we came the width of David Seamans elbow away from extra time. So, despite being a traitorous auld sod, he may have a point. Its a long shot, but we shouldnt be giving up on this tie just yet. Crazy things occasionally happen in football. Anyway, this thread is about McCall joining THEM. Not gonna happen while Chuckies lot are in charge and if Sir Cardigan rides to the rescue he has already stated he wants McCoist to get a chance to manage the club under "normal circumstances". All the best to everyone travelling. Seems the organisation over there is somewhat haphazzard but if everyone gets in free it all adds to the experience. So jealous of those travelling. It will be magic regardless of the score. PS. We should play our strongest team for no other reason than out of respect for the effort of those travelling. Todays game needs to be taken in the context of the fact we had a big game on Thursday and a long journey to/from Russia coming up. We have to rotate players best we can due to the small squad. Factor in the way Hibs set up and that our players are still getting to know each other, then Im delighted with the 3 points. Once Europe is out of the way and the manager settles on a formation that suits the players, we will do just fine.

Hibs sitting in. Hoping for a 0-0 or sneak one on break. Not surprising given their last result. Need to be patient. Our quality should show in the final third.....eventually.

Well said. But given we had this argument about Hately and Higdon last season and Mark Fitzpatrick before them its clear that the issue will never go away. Some folks just need a scapegoat. Hollis is this years target. Id personally rather have Gunnar in but Hollis will have my support for as long as he has the jersey.

Somebody told me coming out of Fir Park on Thursday night that Nielsen wasnt playing because he had dodgy knees. Guy said he knew someone at the club. No idea if true but would be a concern if we have given a contract to someone who is going to be injury prone. All speculation of course as the source may not be reliable.

So many new songs to learn this year. Do managers/clubs not understand the pressure they put on the average fan with such poorly arranged contractual management! Especially liked the John Sutton one on Thursday night. Thats gonna be a classic.....if he can score hunners of goals!

Had a very brief meeting with a group of 10 or so leaving JD's as we were going in. They were very nice, shook hands and wished us well apart from one guy who just gave me a Nazi salute. I was wearing my new gazelles though so maybe that explains it! Looked like theyd had a few sherberts and were enjoying the experience. My mate said theyd had a wee "sing off" with them before we arrived which was disappointing to have missed.

They are better than us. That is why we made mistakes and that is why they scored the goals that will eliminate us. We can talk all night about ifs and buts, however, this is the harsh reality of European football. That said, I saw enough tonight to suggest we will do just fine in the SPFL.

Well me and Nole 81 made the inaurgaral Ayrshire Steelmen foray into Europe! On the train back to gods country now. Disappointing result, but a babystep towards the formation of a larger group! Onwards!

Have done this before for ticket games. I did read elsewhere that the club will sell tickets from the ticket office up til k/o. However, when I payed by phone I was able to skip the queue! Call them in the morning. Sure they will sort you out.
