Mmmmmm..... Maybe! ððð I think if he hadnt left the way he did most fans wouldnt be overly fussed about the way it played out or his return. But he did that. Nobody else. So whilst I agree with your point in principle (particularly as it was me that called Dougie Imrie our pantomime villain) it is still football, it is still tribal, and most of us are utter hypocrites! My main point about this not getting too heated and personal before the game is that I think it might actually impact negatively on the team ifnit gets too toxic, and I wouldnt want the "feel good factor" that we are experiencing just now to be diminished because of fit. However, ultimately its football. The fans will do what they want to do and theres not a blind bit if difference anyone on here can make of it. Fingers crossed for a great game, a grwat atmosphere and a Motherwell win. Stuart who? ððð

We can do that without targetting Kettlewell. He wasnt the manager of Rangers and the atmosphere was great at that game....... Edit: I have no issues with us giving him it tight at the end of the game if we have won. He has certainly earned it......
-
Of course he deserves criticism. But its got nothing to do with Motherwell fans showing themselves up. Its got everything to do with providing a distraction from what is important. Ignore him. Win the game. Gloat later.

Im another one who didnt mind Kettlewell too much whilst he was here. He did work bloody hard and did his best whilst here. The results and performances initially were very good. But his last 6 months were horrendous. His stubbornous to change, his downfall. And the way he left unforgiveable. Letting Saturday be about him though would be a distraction from what is really important, getting our first 3 points of the season. Once thats in the bag he becomes fair game and should get both barrells! Until then, just back the team like we did against the dead club and we will be fine.

Sounds like the players got worked hard on Monday morning! ðĪŠðĪŠðĪŠ

What a cracking night that was! Probably the last really enjoyable game under Kettlewell.

A year on from the big board room coup, I think a lot of things have become evident. 1. Getting "real control" of the club was paramount to everything that has happened in the last year! 2. We now have a young, innovative chairman in place and a much younger board with fresh modern ideas. We also have a CEO who is aligned to these principles. 3. Many fans talked about the need for investement, and that may still come. But the chairman talked about some "easy wins" whereby we could actually grow the club and make it more attractive to investors. 4. Getting in a young modern manager who wants to play attractive attacking football has already seen attendances rise. If that continues to improve, so will stadium revenue. 5. Signing policy is much more forward thinking. Younger, fitter players who are able to play an expansive game and tied down on contracts that give them a residual value. This should see us grow our transfer revenue as players move on to bigger and better things. This in itself will make us more attractive for future signings as they will see us as a good club to facilitate their development. 6. Improvements to communication and in other areas of the club and around the stadium give the impression of a club that knows its identity and is constantly looking to improve. This and the continuing emphasis on community work will make us more attractive to sponsors and in theory should also allow us to grow that revenue stream as well. There is still a lot of room for improvement, and some mistakes have been made along the way. But I dont think Ive been this excited and genuinely delighted to be a Motherwell fan in a very long time. Erik Barmack anyone?

If you dont dare to dream when things are looking good, when can you? We could well fall flat on our faces, and if we do, you will be right and we will be wrong. But some of us will have had some fun along the way.... ð§ĄâĪïļð§Ą

Gonna be in Dublin next weekend so will miss this one. Really hope we pump them (I live in Ayrshire) it makes life much more pleasant for me! Ignore SK until the end. Then just politely ask him the score! 3-0 Motherwell. Lets do this!

I think the manager will definitely have learned a lot from yesterday, as will the players. I think if we had got our subs on earlier and freshened some legs, then we maybe dont lose the first goal and give Hearts a lift when they really needed done. As I said previously, a mixture of tiredness, naievity and bad decision making cost us the 3 points and the manager and the team as a whole are jointly culpable. I wouldnt be dropping Ward right away. Ox has also made mistakes in the past and has been stood by. Ward did make 2 yesterday, but as others have said, he wasnt the only one. I think his distribution is part of the reason he is preferred right now as Im not sure Ox is as good with the ball at his feet. Im sure he will be determined to make up for yesterday. If he continues to make bloopers then a decision will have to be made, but he needs support right now. Hopefully we can get a defender and a DMF in this week. If we do we are gonna give someone an absolute scudding at some point.

As Ive said elsewhere, Dougie Imrie is just our pantomime villain and doesnt everyone really love the pantomime villain? Without one the show just isnt nearly as entertaining! Ive always felt that even though both parties like to give it to each other tight, there is still a sort of weird kinda respect there. The banner yesterday was great to see, as was the applause that went right around the stadium. Football at its best......

Great first 60 minutes. Thought SODs had a very good game and Watt, Slattery and Fadinger all excellent again, but Just was the difference maker. He commits defenders into making mistakes and opens thjngs up for us. Top performance.

There ye are now! ððð

See if you had just stopped your post there...... It wasnt a bottle job. It was naive tactically from the manager and a mixture of tiredness, poor discipline and bad decision making from the players. Also, we may not have won a league game yet, but we are also undefeated against 3 of the better teams in the league at 2 of the harder venues. For the first 60 minutes thats as good as Ive seen us play in a long long time. The 3rd goal is an absolute thing of beauty. For a brand new team and manager its always going to be a work in progress at this stage. Today IS a sore one because of the circumsrances and we DO need to learn from the mistakes we are making, but how enjoyable is it to watch compared to last year?
-
Really not sure how to feel about that. Would have bit your hand off for a point before kick off, but 3-0 up the game should be done! Jens is going to have to think about where the balance lies between playing our football and making sure we take home the 3 points. Think we lost the midfield when Slattery came off and Spittal came on. Totally understand taking him off on a yellow card with the lead we had, but hindsight would suggest that is a mistake. Poor defending for the first allowing the overload back post and poor keeping for the second (through his legs) and the 3rd (palming it out). Still a work in progress and we kinda knew this is how our "style" couldl pan out, but still a sore one in the end.
-
Thats about as comfortable a 45mins as Ive seen us have at Tynecastle. We have got right in the heads of the Hearts players and their fans know it! Some of the howls from their fans after backpasses have been delightful! Played exactly the same as we did in Paisley and Perth but with a little more menace in the final third. Need to keep doing what we are doing and get the second goal......
-
It would seem unlikely. He appears to be more "languid" than the type of player we have gone for this season. Not to say he wont get an opportunity, but I dont see him fancying a high press.
-
I expect him to be back tomorrow! ð With Sparrow injured, every chance SOD goes to RB......
-
You auditioning for the part of "Yin" ð
-
We have enough numbers wise. But 2 of them are ageing RBs who are keeping the replacement CB out the team. I think we need dto move Balmer on and find someone like him that finds the managers playing style. That might mean Gordon moving to the bench, or both SOD and McGinn plalying less....
-
We have some array of forward options now. Even if we accept the midfield is Watt, Slattery, Fadinger We now have Said, Just, Stama, Hendry, Cooke, Maswanhise and Osong And thats without even including Robinson, Nicholson and Stuparevic who are all injured. Safe to say we are done on the forward dept. Just need a decent defender and potentially a DMF.
-
Regan Charles-Cooke incoming! The mysterious "lights out" post is up!
-
If we can get any of our wide plalyers to get to the by-line and put in a ball like that, there's every chance....
-
I wouldnt necessarily see him as an out and out winger though. More of a wide forward. We are currently struggling to score goals. If CRC can bring his Ross County form to the party, we should certainly be interested in him.
-
I think we are probably fine as we are. But we ecould defo do with moving Balmer on for a ball playing version. Having someone on the bench the manager doesnt fancy isnt a strong place ro be.
