Thought we played well first half and controlled the game. Faddy looked a bit sharper although still not quite there. If we had been more ruthless in front of goal we would never have been behind at half time and Ross County couldnt have complained. The incident with McLean in the lead up to their goal was bizarre and seemed to cause a lapse in concentration. 2nd half I thought we started slowly but once we scored there was only going to be one winner. Like others I really like the look of Ainsworth. We look a lot more balanced with him on the right. Think we are slowly getting there and if we are having the likes of Lawson Vigurs McFadden and McHugh on the bench, we look like a team with options.

Ainsworth Goal Nominated For Sky Sports Goal Of The Week

This is also true!

Absolutely. Ludicrous statement. Need to get some emoticons on my phone!

Fair doos. I wasnt really looking that closely to that aspect of his game so you may have a point. I take on board what some folks are saying about his range of long passing which was more evident in the second half after the sending off. However, throughout the game I felt, rightly or wrongly, that he gave the ball away a lot or was caught in possession. Just my opinion. I dont have a downer on the guy, more than happy to give him the benefit of the doubt, but on last nights performance I think Lasley is the better option. Also thought Carswell had his poorest performance of the season last night. Whether that was because of Lasley's absence or whether that limited Lawsons contribution is hard to say.

50/50 split according to Chick Young!

Went for Ainsworth. Wasnt outstanding but did some good things and was the most impressive of our forward thinking players. Would have gone for McManus but not sure he was really tested that much.
-
I think "workmanlike" is about as good as you could describe the performance. Pleased to be through but disappointed that Lawson and McHugh in particular didnt seize their opportunities to make a claim for a place. Ainsworth looks like he is going to be a goid addition. Lasley, Sutton and Anier all straight back into the team at the weekend.

I agree we will probably rotate a few players but given the amount of SPL teams already out I dont think McCall will risk wholesale changes Neilsen for Hollis ZFA for Hammell Lawson for Lasley (Rest the older guy, Carswell is young and in great form should cope fine with 3 games in 6 days) Play Vigurs on left Ainsworth on the right. Agree Faddy for Sutton. Faddy needs to play through this slump and lesser opposition should give him chance to see if he can do that. Can always through Sutton on if not working. If we show the right attitude this is a game we should win comfortably. But thats a big if..... This is now a big chance for a diddy team to win a trophy. We need to believe it could be us.

Lasley sloppy pass led up to the first goal and like one or two others, could have done better for the second, however, that apart, he put in an excellent shift, led by example throughout, and was desperately unlucky not to cap it with a goal. I had no idea he could hit free kicks as good as that!

Can we just order these for next season now?

That would be a cracking away top with claret shorts and the current home socks. I voted to design our own kit but only on the basis the financials make sense. Dont know how much UBH would charge........

Agree with just about every word of this. Unfortunately for the Bois, if you stick two fingers up to the authorities you have to expect you are gonna cop some flak so the response from the stewards and police should have been no surprise. From where I was sat yesterday most of the behaviour from the Bois could be described as good natured high jinx, however the smoke bombs ARE banned items and once the polis had decided that enough was enough, there were one or two enjoying getting in the faces of the stewards and the polis a little too much. Its a fine line between pushing boundaries to effect change and making yourself a target for the authorities. Some calm reflection required to ensure the Bois remain a positve force for change.

Not sure benching Faddy would help. Think he needs to try and play himself out of this slump in form. Thats fine as long as we are winning. Becomes much harder to justify if we are not. I thought he was better yesterday in a more central role with some of the little one two's between him Anier Vigurs and Lasley lovely to watch. However his work in the last third was frustrating to watch. But you can see from his reaction he is well aware of it. As for the original point, I agree. Was disappointing to see us try to shut up shop only for it to invite them onto us more as I thought there was another goal in it for us and I thought Ainsworth would have been a better shout than Lawson. However, I understand why the decision was made and I guess the manager is vindicated with the 3 points. On the plus side we are third in the league with 4 wins out of 6 playing poorly with a team that barely knows one another. Just think how good we could be when it all settles down and Faddy finds some form! In McCall we trust.....

Some good performances today. Carswell was excellent again and Vigurs is starting to look better although I agree with Daver about his decsion making in the final third. Hammell looked solid playing out of position and ZFA did well on the left. His turn and nutmeg on their right back in the second half was class. Thought Hollis was solid again. Lasley was the standout for me. Worked tirelessly for the team and was involved in most of what we did that was good.

Have the clubs had any dialogue to confirm whether the Bois will be allowed the drum and to stand during game? Seem to remember the stewards being a tad heavy handed about standing during a previous visit.

Scottish Football Clubs Alcohol Ban To Be Reviewed
joewarkfanclub replied to gilmour's topic in Club Chat
I used to be dead against this as I didnt think with our attitude towards drink as a nation it could be anything other than asking for trouble. However, given that a lot of folk stay in the pub right up until k/o anyway it probably makes more sense to allow it back in a controlled way and allow the clubs to make some money from it. As some folks have said if its ok for hospitality....... Might even reduce the queue to get into the East in the run up to k/o time! No idea what the tory agenda is here but dont think that matters. -
Carswell for me again. Does all the hard graft and dirty work, but at the moment he is also looking like our most composed footballer. First name on teamsheet for me at the moment.

Bit of a stop start performance IMO. Still not playing any really fluent football but managed to grind out another victory which can only bode well for the rest of the season. Ramsden played well and although he didnt deserve his first yellow the second is silly and gave the ref no option. He also got away with a naughty one in the first half so cant really complain. Faddy again tried hard but is struggling out wide. Signs that he and Anier are developing an understanding however. Both Anier and Sutton took their goals well. Once we get the balance of the team right there is potential for vast improvement. Surprised at how much football Killie played. Few boys at work saying Johnston and Clark going route one but no evidence of that today. Boyd still looks a handful andcwill no doubt score goals. I dont see their plight being as serious as their fans think it might. Not on that showing anyway.

Nice work my friend!

Faddy is the most creative player AND best finisher at the club. The closer we can get him to the penalty box the more chances we will create and more goals we will score. If Lionel can play on the right and let Faddy move inside great. If he can also get the opposition right back thinking twice about pressing on even better. Also gives us a second out ball if we are under pressure instead of punts to Sutton all the time. Could work out to be a good signing.....if he is any good!

Brilliant! You cant beat the utter randomness of sport sometimes! Bienevenida los hombres de acero Espanolas!

The amber shorts are a massive improvement with the new shirt. Even if they are last seasons.

Lol! Makes our result over there look even better...... There are a few in the East Stand would question your assessment of big Sutton however.....
