Sorry mate, but struggling to see what part of my post can be construed as a criticism of the manager?
-
We only need 14 points from a possible 33 remaining to beat our club record for a third season in a row. I have no idea how this game will turn out, but its an important statistic to hang on to when things arent going our way.
-
Good point. They are two very clever footballers who, if you get them in the right areas of the park will hurt other teams. What the manager has to do is provide the platform to make that happen. So far this season he has struggled to do that for reasons too various to mention. They were never bad footballers or a waste of a wage though.
-
Vigurs for me. Really showed what he was about yesterday. Some very neat probing football, scored a goal and a couple of assists. If he can do that consistently we have a decent player on our hands.
-
Usual pish on here every time we lose a game. Folks are entitled to be disappointed if we lose but the total lack of any understanding of how hard it is to win football matches with half your first team squad injured/carrying injuries is pathetic. The next few weeks are going to be a slog until we can get some of the lads back fit. Some folk need to toughen up.
-
Bad day at the office. But considering the injuries we have and how stretched the squad is, hardly a surprise. Patience required until such times as we get everyone back fit.
-
No quality? I must have been at a different game. Some of his link up play was excellent and his part in the second goal was outstanding. He may not be 100% fit and he may never again be the player he was but he still has plenty to offer us.
-
Didnt see the tackle but will take your word for it. My Thistle supporting mate wasnt happy with Lasley for similar reasons but Im struggling to recall that one either.
-
Lasley. Led by example. Covered every blade of grass. Involved in everything we did. Excellent performance.

Great entertainment. Maybe not the greatest quality of football with plenty of mistakes by both sides, however both sides attacked and tried to win the game. Just glad we were able to win it in the end. As for the pantomime villain, the game in Scotland has been sterile for far too long and you cant beat a player that can noise an entire support up like that. It added greatly to the atmosphere and made it all the sweeter when we won. He also played very well. Pleased he wont be enjoying his Saturday night as much as us though! I'll take that every week between now and the end of the season.

RIP Andy. Motherwell FC's greatest ever player.

A few memorable ones for different reasons.... Cup Semi replay v Celtic - enjoyed it way more than the final due to nerves on cup final day and also because it was unexpected and against "them". Rangers away - Farninghams game - was sick to back teeth of them scoring injury time winners against us so to do it to them in similar circumstances was "pleasing"..... Hearts away in cup after Phils death. Our support has never been so together and to come from behind to get a replay was just great.
-
This one has to be right up there. The only bright spot were the original Inverness Caley boys who had their game cancelled and decided to throw their support behind us. Never stopped singing "we are the Caley Well" the hole game. Another stinker was around the same time we had Dundee away the cup and got spanked 3-0. Another very healthy away support and another long and horrible journey back down the road.

All fair points Frazzle. But he wasnt moving there from us. He made a bad decision in the summer. If this gets him back playing first team football at a decent level it improves his situation surely?
-
Lol! I'm obviously not as brave as you!
-
Fair doo's. On second viewing Stokes does make a beeline for Lasley as soon as he gets the ball so you could infer intent from that. Still far from the worst tackle of the weekend. Anyone see the Man Utd game. Rafael on Cahill is a real shocker and he only got a yellow!
-
-----------Neilson----------- Kerr-----Hutch-----McManus----Hammell ----------Carswell---------- Ainsworth-----Lasley----Vigurs ---------McFadden---Sutton Let the team play. We can cause them problems.
-
No cringe required. The realisation of a lifetimes efforts following a diddy team. If you didnt have a tear in your eye that day there's something wrong with you! Outwith my wedding day and the birth of my kids its still the best day of my life. Only Faddys Paris comes close.
-
You are right. There would have been an uproar if the roles were reversed. But football fans are not known for their impartiality. Will be interested to see it again tonight on a bigger clearer screen and hear the views of the pro's.
-
I agree with this. Thats why I have enjoyed Scotland games (Levein apart) more in recent years. Its also why the European games shouldnt be taken for granted. The Nancy and Odense games were immense in the build up despite the ultimate results. This Saturday is huge, which is why Im gutted to be missing it.
-
Again, you are probably right. But it was a late tackle, not an over the ball or 2 feet off the ground job. As I said, he did Catch Las on ankle and I would like to see it again to see what it is that got Carswell incensed and convinced the ref to send him off. Im not defending Stokes but on first viewing, had it been one of our players, I would have thought it was harsh.
-
Maybe so. But someone asked the question as to whether the red card was justified. I wasnt assuming the role of his defence agent.
-
Lasley for me. Was our best player by a distance in the first half and maintained that throughout the second half when we were much better. His workrate for the team is incredible.
-
Red card looked harsh. Definite yellow although he did catch Las on the ankle. Hard to say if it was deliberate although Carswell reacted as if it was a naughty one.

Not sure what to make of it all. Wasnt sure about the starting 11. I get what McCall says about not being too gung ho as Celtic certainly have the players to hurt you. However, if you are looking to soak up pressure surely you play one up front and that person has to be mobile and run the channels ie NOT Sutton. Not sure the full back set up was right either. Kerr was fit enough to be on the bench and come on so why not play him and leave Hammell at left back. Thought we looked exposed on both flanks as a result. Dont think we pressed the ball enough either. Their players got plenty space to think what they wanted to do. That said, we looked much better in the second half and although we were far more attacking we only lost 1 goal and an og at that. No doubting Celtic are better than us, just disappointing that we continue to make the gap look bigger than it really is.
