  1. Cracking wet day for a game of fitba. Should ensure a slick pitch. Hopefully get a blood and snotters performance and maybe a victory by the odd goal! On the down side, the beer garden will be shut! Up The Well!
  2. Some context would be good. Is it anything to do with the firecrackers at Hampden?
  3. Until someone is actually signed, maybe we should just hang fire until we see what business is actually done? Given our standing in the market, I would have thought it was fairly obvious we would have multiple irons in the fire.
  4. Not trying to play it down at all. Obviously it would be far better if all our members were fully engaged in Society matters all the time. Not just when we need to keep the wolf from the door. Im just not overly concerned right now as we have seen significant change in the Society in the last 12 months in the way it operates and its plan for the future. I have every faith that the right people are now in place and will be looking to address the many issues both it and the club have going forward.
  5. Re the politics in football thing. If someone is posting stuff on an official club / society feed thats one thing. Using your own personal accounts to post stuff is fair game imho. Particularly if you are a volunteer of an organisation and not a paid employee where certain rules apply. The Society elections were open and democratic. If you dont like someone for whatever reason you dont need to vote for them. Coming on social media after the fact seems quite cheap.
  6. Maybe they didnt view it as big given the number and quality of the candidates though? They voted in bigger numbers when it did matter, even though it maybe didnt in the end given Barmack pulled the plug, so I wouldnt get that animated about it. If people had been elected that were not in line with what the members view is and the Society Board were once again split, that would be a bigger problem.
  7. I think its possible to do both. Part of the Our Club, Our Plan document is certainly to engage our current members and non members to become more involved. But pretty sure exploring "other markets" will be part of the outside investment strand of the plan.
  8. More likely that there were too many suitably qualified candidates for people to try and whittle down, so many just didnt bother assuming whoever got in would do a good job. I only got 2/4 of my votes in but I cant say Im disappointed by the result as the other 2 were on my shortlist anyway. Regardless. We now have a strong Society Board. We now need a strong Executive Board and a far clearer constitution / standing orders or whatever you want to call it to ensure the Executive Board can be held accountable for decisions in the future!
  9. Well done to those elected. Can only echo Steelboys comments re the others Lots of skill and experience there we should be trying to keep engaged. Now for the Executive positions......
  10. Just checked. Definitely released in the summer. 6 month deal with the club holding the option to extend. Not sure Id be waiting too long before making that decision!
  11. Not sure it is a loan. Didnt Leicester release him? He has been training with us for a few weeks.
  12. Also unsure as to why Hearts wont rotate their squad for us. Our game with them is sandwiched right between both their Europa League qualifiers. If they get a decent result midweek, they will surely be resting players for the return, with the amount of money thats on offer for reaching the geoup stages?
  13. Not wanting to and not being able to are 2 different things though. It maybe that he has tried and the players dont want to come, or we cant afford them. What I would say is that if we cant, we should look at a different way of playing. I mean, we didnt replace KVVs goals with one player. We spread them around.
  14. Enjoyed the beer garden. Its obviously a very weather dependent feature though. Wonder if there is scope for rain shelters and patio heaters like the one we went to in Stuttgart for the Euros. Its definitely got potential!
  15. Thought the defence were all pretty solid today (until right at the end). SOD had a very good game and the 3 CBs dealt with everything comfortably for the most part. Seddon looks like he has something about him and Wilson did well in a number of positions. Watt added something when he came on and worked hard enough, although he does look a little bit off it fitness wise. Miller was much better in the deeper role and continues to be a class act. MOTM for me though was Maswanhise. He lit the game up when he came on. I suspect the vultures will begin circling if he keeps up that level of performance!
  16. Hearts have signed a lot of good players, so you would expect that, even with squad rotation, they would have started the season more impressively. Given our injury woes, you would have thought it would be a stick on win for them. Now Im not so sure. It will be interesting to see how they get on midweek and how much that takes out of them.
  17. Thought we looked solid first half yesterday without doing anything spectacular. We shaded it on possession and territory with more of the game being at the Kilmarnock end than ours. Neither keeper having a save of note to make. Second half I thought we looked sharper even before the sending off. There were anumber of crosses across the 6 yard box that Robinson should really be gambling on. He could have had a couple of tap ins if he had. Findlay can have no complaints about the sending off. It was madness to commit to that tackle having already been yellow carded. After that I felt it was pretty much one way traffic. The subs certainly improved our attacking threat. Moses looks a far more instinctive finisher than Robinson and seems to know where to be in the box. Watt and Maswanhise improved our attacking intent and creativity. The young winger looks a real find if he can replicate that most weeks. We look much more solid defensively this season and I dont think we will concede as many goals. Killie never really troubled us at the back until the latter stages when we seemed to panic and lose our composure a little. Personally, I felt we thoroughly deserved to win the tie, and although being far from the perfect performance, there are signs of encouragement that once the injury crisis begins to clear, we will be more than fine this season.
  18. A fit Ryan Jack is exactly the type of player we need. A real proper defensive mid who would protect our backline and let Miller (& others) go play their football. He should be out of our price range and probably doesnt view us as his next club. However, the closer to deadline day it gets, then we might have a chance of getting him. A 6 month deal would probably suit both parties. We dont extend any risk on his fitness beyond January, and he gets to look at other clubs again in the next window whilst guaranteeing some game time. Giving someone like Jack a 2 year deal given his injury record and our current predicament, I agree, would be nuts.
  19. Personally Id love us to ditch the 5 at the back and move to a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 or similar. But Ketts seems wedded to it for some reason. Hopefully our suffering will be short lived and we get some of our injured players back quicker than expected.
  20. I dont disagree, but the majority of our midfield is injured. If you play Watt as an advanced midfielder he can link the play and let Miller get back to doing what he does best.
  21. Its not about being vocal on social media. Its having the analytical mind and enthusiasm to identify the flaws in the argument of the thing that threatens the existence of the thing you care about. And then using social media to get that out there......
  22. Im guessing it will be a 5-4-1 of some description. The only guess will be if Watt is fit enough to start and if so how the 4 are organised. Heygi might get a start in the Cup just to keep him and his parent club happy. Personally Id stick with the Ox. Ox McGinn Gordon Casey SOD Seddon Davor Miller Watt Wilson Robinson There is an argument for starting Halliday instead of Davor or Watt, possibly Wilson, but Im still not sure what he brings over and above his experience. Id keep him on the bench in case we need to close the game out or Davor gets injured / runs outta steam. Personally, Id like to see young Wells in one of the advanced midfield roles with Watt and try and play on the front foot. But SK is probably too conservative to do that.
  23. I agree with pretty much all of this. Having already cast my votes, I used a similar logic. Thankfully, a number of candidates have both the skillsets and are able to evidence their unwavering support for fan ownership. My only regret is that there were not more votes available as there was 1 guy who was deserving of a vote for the work he did getting our story out there and I had to chose between him and another worthy candidate. Regardless, I think this whole episode proves that there are enough of us who care deeply about the club to make sure fan ownership not only continues, but is likely to thrive. Many thanks to all those who ran the hard yards to get us here.
  24. He is the very definition of a perma-crock. No doubt a fit Ryan Jack would do a job for us. But given our current injury status, even I would be questioning SKs decision making if we go down that route!
  25. The support needs to be up for this and park any frustrations we may have surrounding the manager, signings and injuries. The cup is important to us financially and we have a home tie against a beatable opponent with similar resources to ourselves. Lets get behind the team and leave any recriminations until the game is over.
