  1. Spot on post by DC'd. Folk need to show some patience and stop pissing the bed because their dream goalie hasn't strided through the doors at Fir Park just yet. It would also be great when a new goalie does inevitably sign that we were saved the obligatory post that always follows: "Good news but we still definitely need another this and another that and yadda fucking yadda yadda..." Paradise syndrome is a rare condition but seems to affect about half the people that post on here. Nothing ever seems to be enough. The club know what they're doing these days, for a change have a little faith.
  2. Barra mentioned wanting three more in the Q&A to bring the squad to 20, goalie obviously being one. Wonder would a Ramsden or Klimpl type, hopefully much better version of either, who can play at the back or in midfield be the ideal kind of signing? Then leaving room a for a forward thinking player to cover the areas like attacking mid, either wing or the number ten role. just wonderif that how he'll go as these kind of guys can be very handy through the course of a season
  3. Our days of charitable donations to already extremely wealthy over the hill players I'd hoped were behind us. Only the depth of feeling we all have for Faddy can be driving this mini movement for him to return again. The sight of him jigging along scarf aloft post match at Pittodrie is the image I want to remember him by with his legendary status forever intact.
  4. Chalmers can play at centre half as can Watt and Ferguson. Would only get another in if room was left in the budget after more important areas like goalkeeper and centre mid are taken care of. Clarky aside, the four signed (Moult included) would have an average age of 22 and a half. Exactly what was required and very similar to the group Gannon during his summer in charge. Lets hope this crop do us just as well as those did.
  5. Our tremendous York City lineage continues. Exactly type of signing I was alluding to looking for earlier. With him and Clarkson signing it probably signals the end of our long and successful run of playing old fashioned target men up top. Interesting to see how it goes without having the the route one approch to fall back on when games are getting away from us. Sutty, Higdon and even Ports and Juke always gave us that option. Gonna have to stick to the 'slick and quick' as Gannon to call it, no bad thing.
  6. Wouldn't re-sign Skippy even if it is an option. It'll be a big wage with the prospect of zero financial return. Also would hold back Dom Thomas if McD is deployed in same role as playoff's and Craig Moore if he's played up top in a two. He played a big part in our eventual survival and his aura and presence undoubtedly improved others around him. The same happened when Faddy returned and short term both were great signings. Long term we need to blood our own and find rough diamonds from elsewhere. It's the only way the club moves forward.
  7. Dan; Straker, Ferguson, Watt (at CB where he's done well with 20's), Law; Thomas, Leitch, Grant, Cadden; Moore and Mackin. No point risking Erwin when he's been our best player in last few months. Mackin has looked a handful for the 20's so why not try him. Ben Hall, at the back, and Brett Long, in goal, should come on at half time too. All been offered new deals, perfect time to see how they do with literally nothing at stake. Might even give a little optimism for next season if a few of them look the part.
  8. Erwin, Ojamaa and Moore can all do similar to Anier in terms of going in behind, run channels and create space for arriving midfielders. The problem is they are invariably deployed wide or as a deep lying forward with Sutton as the number nine. Moore tore Killie to shreds last season in the first away game down there, with Sutton playing in a deeper role. It worked really well and how we've never repeated the approach with Erwin or Ojamaa (in Moore's place) so far this season has been a big mistake.
  9. Watched Saunders play a few times last season at centre half for the 20's and while he was generally quite assured, he never stood out enough to merit a place in the first team. Got done a couple of times by the young Celtic lad Atijic at the game at Firhill in January. One led to a pen and the other a goal; point being against probably the most talented he'd face at that level he struggled. Am sure this wouldn't of gone unnoticed by Stu Mac. He played at Ayr and Raith last pre-season at right back and never looked great in either, so either position we're talking about him playing here, I think people are going well over the top in their praise.
  10. Fancy big Gunnar will be a good addition. Randolph was the best we'd had in the 20 odd years I've been a fan so, although it will inevitably happen, folk should try and not compare him to every keeper which proceeds. The last four years were a golden time for us and keepers, not likely to be repeated for a while. Every time I saw Craig Moore for the 20's last year, he either scored or created a goal. He looks the real deal to me, would give him a chance in pre-season to stake a claim. Could save us a fair bit of cash and surely one of our own coming through would be more enjoyable to see than a journeyman pro with little affinity for the club in his place. If neither him or Bob impress then a loan striker from down south would probably be the way to go, whilst they continue their development coming on from the bench.
  11. Noticed some chat bout Coke, he's definitely away. Know a lad that lives next to him and he said was off but couldn't say which team yet. Surprised no bids for Reynolds as yet, he's probably on a lot of teams list of targets but maybe 1 or 2 down the pecking order I was thinking. As deals begin to happen or indeed fail to transpire, that's when I think teams will look to him. A goalie, a left mid and a striker away from a 'tilt at the title'. Good times at the Fir.

to the tune of Hey Macarena: Angelis, Angelis Charalambous! Angelis, Angelis Charalambous! Angelis, Angelis Charalambous! Hey Charalambous!!! ...help the new lad settle in, I'm sure swapping Lamaca for Lanarkshire will come as a bit of a shock to the system.
  13. Crags pretty much did speak out in the interview he did with Alba for Accies away game, talked bout results hiding what goes on behind the scenes etc. Also spoke to McGarry a while back and he said a lot of things that were none to positive bout JG also that none of the older lads liked him and mentioned "that even Keith, who loves Motherwell to bits, even he's fucked off with it now". It's obvious JOB had run-ins with him too, hence the dropping of him from the team. Guess something had to give and in the end it was the gaffer, hopefully his legacy is the young players he blooded and the decent players he's brought to the club. Special mention for Wardy, still a legend!
  14. Don't know if mentioned but reporter on radio 5 said JG was Edgeley Park today, what's the betting he goes back there.
  15. from all the talk and Crag's comments on the Alba re-run, you could easily see us offloading Las, McGarry, DLS, Fizzy and Crags of course. Add in Hammell, JOB and Slane being out of contract and Reynolds looking likely to go soon, we would be left with very little squad at all. Rudd, Yass and Lukaz only here til January Coke and Jenno only one year deals too, the long term outlook seems precarious. Obviously you'd hope many of the above will stay on at least til the seasons end but the signings in January take on extra importance with the amount of players that conceivably will be on there way. At least with Hutch, Saunders, Forbes, Humph and Sutt on board for a while our fives team still looks pretty handy! JGMA

Quickly becoming my favourite player, excellent again today and a quality tunesmith to boot. Well played.
  18. Would make sense to me, he ain't a Div 1 player but his no doubt decent wage might be better deployed on a full-back and a centre half I feel. Has great ability but hasn't always showed it, all the same has done a lot for the club and should be treated well if he indeed does decide to go.
  19. Lasley, McGarry and Fraser not in the squad on Saturday, anyone think they may be on thier way out this week? Feel Las is a little unlucky to not feature but the other two are not good enough, pure and simple.
  20. This one just came to me there, maybe shit but I like it: "You're Paul Slane You probably think this song is about you You're Paul Slane I'll bet you think this song is about you Don't you? Don't you?" (From the Carly Simon 'classic', here's the link to sing along to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B7bVD_DkM4 ) Cheers
  21. His name is Stevie Saunders, He loves to take a wander, And when he sees (can't think of player since McCarthy went, sure someone wil think of one), he fucks him in the air! Saunderos, Saunderos, Saunderos, Saunderos, Saunderos!
  22. JOB for me, immense as has been roundly echoed. Hutch, Forbes, Sutt, Crags, Hateley and Saunderos all excellent also. A good day all round!
  23. Hateley for me, had a hand in both goals and was solid throughout. Forbes was class and his goal compilation dvd, 'Forbesy's Finest' lets say, is taking shape nicely. Coke very good in the air and in the tackle, more to come from him I'm sure. Murph, McHugh, Humph and especially JOB were excellent in forward areas and with Slane to return that's looking good. Just the powerful frontman to arrive and we'll be tearing teams apart.
  24. Wouldn't panic on one player not arriving a night before the first game. Unless he's been training with us he'll have no understanding with the players and chances are won't be at the same level of fitness as the boys who have been in Europa action. Would be nice to have a different option up top and sure one will arrive. The fact we aren't scrambling about for players on the eve of the season, like last year when Neilsen and JOB joined, is surely a good sign. If someone does check in tonight, then good stuff but if not still believe we have enough to do well tomorrow.

Na it's a cracker, just hope the material ain't Tenerife Teflon this time as the home is horrendous in the quality stakes. Two very smart kits though.
