  1. Aye, Hollis has been outstanding so far. No chance with either goal.

This team selection is gonna bite us in the arse next weekend.

All stems back to the Rangers game for me. Poor team selection got us a doing when we were on a good run and should have been looking to keep the momentum up. We've never recovered from that and have chopped and changed personnel since then.

I really hope Stuart McCall knows what he's doing but I must admit I'm fearing the final as much as I'm looking forward to it.

  2. I've calmed down now, lets look ahead if we take something form Arabs away and beat Killie next Wednesday then we finish 5th (equal to last season) and have a Scottish Cup Final to look forward to, thats no a bad season is it ?

After that performance yesterday I can't say I'm looking forward to the Scottish cup final too much any more. We've imporoved a lot over the last couple of months but I'm disappointed to see we've still got that level of inept performance in us.

  3. Why were we just looking to keep fit and avoid injuries rather than give our chances of qualifying for Europe a massive boost? Why go hell for leather last week and then come out with a weakened team full of non triers this week? The cup final is 3 weeks away FFS.

You seem to have totally missed the point with every post you have made on this subject. Are you saying we can expect performances like this for the rest of the season?

  4. I can't undersand why people are trying to play this result down so much and saying it doesn't really matter. If Celtic win the league we qualify for Europe whether we win or lose in the Scottish Cup final so this should have been our most competetive game in the top 6. We should have had our strongest team on the pitch and every player should have been up for it. I'm not saying we should be trying to do Celtic any favours, I'm saying we should be trying our utmost to take something from todays game and unfortunately we weren't.

Is it the case that some players care more about the cup final than they do about Europe or league placing because they won't be here next season anyway? Possible even subconsciously?

  5. That was just a horrible horrible game. Really disheartened and down by that shite.

That's 21-3 to Rangers in 5 games this year. Worst ever season against them in my time as a well fan. Lack of effort from 75% of our team was frightening. Playing top of the league who have two 6ft plus forwards we drop our biggest and best centre half.

    Really really scunnered.

Sums it up for me. Taking anything from todays game would have gone a long way to securing European football for next season so I can't understand why the strongest team didn't start. Plenty of time to rest players after todays game.

McCall has had the team playing really well and fighting for everything recently but in my opinion he has undone a lot of his good work today.

I'm totally pissed off by that performance. It was played like a meaningless end of season game but it was anything but.

  6. Should have had a penalty, should have had a free kick in the build-up to rangers goal and Lafferty should have had a second yellow for playing on after the whistle had gone. Could have been a totally different game if the referee had the balls to do his job properly.

Having said that it's been a totally lacklustre, end of season type performance which wasn't helped by dropping Hutchy and Hately. Can't see us getting European football unless we win the cup now and if we play like that we've got no chance.

Just seen the 5th going in. Total fucking embarrassment and they should all hang their heads in shame.

  7. I'm sure Maurice was also quoted at the weekend as saying he had moved about too much in his career and he felt it was now time to put some roots down. Typical lazy Evening Times journalism.

  8. Florida Park pub, about 12.15-12.30ish, everyone was having a decent time of it. St J's fans and 'Well fans singing away, mingling well together and it seemed like it was all going to go down treat. From nowhere and for no reason all the nonces started scrapping. Tumblers flew, tables and chairs were launched and it all got a bit ugly.

No idea what kicked it off, if anything actually did. I reckon they came in, went berserk for no reason then legged it cause they're actually scared of the results of their actions. They continually get done in off the other casuals around Scotland so it seems they've taken to turning up at the smaller games and attacking people who can't fight back.

Kids, women, old folk and people with walking sticks, people in wheel chairs.... doesn't matter to these guys. As long as you can't fight back you're a target for them.

Who were they fighting with? Or was it more vandalism than actual fighting? Either way they're a bunch of fuds who obviously have no idea how ridiculous they look. Half of them are fat middle aged thugs who look as if they've found their clothes in a skip and sewed a stone island badge on and the other half are playing at it like extras from a Danny Dyer film and probably hide when the trouble starts.

Sounds similar to what the Dundee United fans did in the Fir Park Club and rightly got slated for.

  9. As much of a tit as Gerry McNee was he saw through Craig Brown years ago and I can't believe what an easy ride he continues to get from the media. Craig Brown has had several slurs on his character over the years and he seems to come throught them all with his self-proclaimed "dignity" intact. He was a Judas to his wife, a Judas to his Scotland backroom team and a Judas to Motherwell. If he had any dirt to dish on Motherwell I'm pretty sure he would have at least alluded to it when he left to join Aberdeen. He is a shaky voiced little worm of a man and the sooner he gets what he deserves the better. Well done to John Boyle for winding the wee prick up to the extent that he he shows his true colours again.

  10. I remember being one of a few thousand standing on the Fir Park pitch, singing and cheering up at the squad, showing off the Cup from the Main Stand. Psycho O'Neill led a lot of the singing, even though he was the only player not to actually play that day.

Champagne and curry, then party all night. Woken by my mother mid morning, starkers - apart from my scarf wrapped round my willie. No hangover, still deliriously happy.

As I finish this post off, I'm suddenly filled with saddness. Davie and Phil not around anymore.

I'm pretty sure he came on for the last few minutes of extra time and only got two kicks. One at the ball and one at Dave Bowman.

  11. Thats the managers email oot. Not sure what to make of it. Yesterday was a sore one, all the goals were lost in a similar way so something needs to be addressed urgently.

The managers email shows how much we have fallen away recently. A couple of weeks ago we were going for 4th place now if we "can take some positive results, then we are right back in the race for a top six spot". Hopefully we'll get those results but I'm not overly confident.

  12. Can't understand why folk are turning their back on the team. Aye we were shite today, aint been great for some time I know, but things have been far, far worse than this. These times are the sorts you need to get behind the team, the club, when things are not going well and we are doing poorly. That's why when things pick up they are all the sweeter. Hang in there.

Things have been worse before but there's always been light at the end of the tunnel. Good young players, fighting spirit, playing for the jersey etc and I can't see much of that in the current team.

I hope I'm wrong but I think it will be a long wait before we have any good times again.

  13. In our current situation I think a draw is a decent result. We had chances to win the game but so did Inverness. Before the game I would have taken a point so I'm reasonably content.

What worries me is that if I was a player who was going to be out of contract soon I'd be reluctant to sign anything until I saw what direction the club was going in. If we're looking to live off loan signings and can't compete with English non-league teams in the transfer market I can't see us holding on to Sutton or Jennings.

  14. Probably because Fergie would be more inclined to loan young players to Aberdeen than to Motherwell, I'd have thought.

Or because Craig Brown wants to name-drop an Aberdeen legend...........

Lets face it, Fergie will send his players out to the best option available. He didn't get to be one of the best managers in the world by being sentimental and he hasn't sent too many players north of the border on loan in recent years.
