  1. Looking forward to going up, but expecting a tough game to say the least. Speaking to a Dundee Utd mate a work reckoned they were worth the result against them, and are a big powerful team.

Disappointed to lose the 3 goals against the Sheep, but other than that felt we've been fairly tight at the back - a lot of the goals against us have been individual errors, but hopefully that will be worked on during the week.

Agree that going forward we don't look as sharp as last season, but it took a few games to click last year, so ever hopeful. Lawson coming back in is a gimme as far as I'm concerned, and if he's fit, I'd get Faddy off the wing and give him more of a free role behind the front one\two.

    Whatever team plays

  2. It was indeed a very disciplined performance for the most part over the two legs, but still disappointed we did n't have more of a go in the 2nd half last night.

Still, we were far from embarrassed, so we move on, and looking forward now to Sunday

  3. Feel gutted for the lads as they worked hard, but yet again, we shoot ourselves in the foot with an avoidable own goal - and our penalty miss just put the tin lid on it dash2.gif

BTW, plaudits to Neilson who looked the part thumbup.gif

VERY disappointed with the tactics in the 2nd half - again we go out of Europe with hardly a whimper

Sooner Sunday's here the better, to hopefully get away from this style of play

  4. hope we pump this mob, been over on aberdeen mad and we're apparently an embarrassment to scotland etc etc for leaving the 3 behind tonightlaugh.gif heres hoping faddy and vigurs rip them a new one on sundaythumbup.gif 2-0

Dare say the Sheep should recognise the signs as they've pretty much been in pole position for that accolade for more years recently than they'd care to admit to.

  5. UBH. To an extent I don't disagree with what you are saying. I am happy for Saints, but by the sound of things enjoyed a fair amount of luck in the 2 ties v Rosenberg. Plus being a Nordic side, their style is more like our UK style. Good luck to them and I hope they get through to the play off round.

But I would happily bet my house on Levante, Pana and Kuban taking all SPL teams to the cleaners apart from maybe Celtic.

We have a new team that have not played a competitive game before last night. I expected what happened, I only hoped it would not. My concern for the new season is our lack of pace and whether Sutton and our strikers will get many goals.

Pretty much what I was thinking last night - we did reasonably well in how we played, but they always looked like they had an bit of class that we didn't, especially going forward. Both goals were avoidable though, and as clever as the no. 99 was in setting it up, it just seemed too easy. Stevie Hammell's attempted pass for the 2nd was criminal, but I'd bet no one knows that more than Hammell himself. With a bit of luck, Sutton's header would have given us a glimmer of hope, but wasn't our night (again !), so we need to move on.

As for the season ahead, no rash statements about where we'll finish in the league, but I'm fairly positive about what lies ahead - well pleased with Lawson & Vigurs, and on 1st viewing McManus looks the part and his experience will be invaluable. I like big Sutton, but as said previously, playing up on his own is just pointless. Faddy's Faddy, and you take what you get - the guy has the potential when he gets the ball to make things happen, and whilst it don't always work, the air of expectancy when he gets the ball is why I love watching him play. FWIW, I reckon Vigurs is in the same mould, that he'll have the ability to make things happen.

An additional player or two would be ideal, but in reasonably good shape going forward.

  6. Seem to remember the fuss at the time, with what was a piece of paper\card, but that's the powers that be for you, although I've no doubt they'd argue the item thrown is irrelevant, it's the gesture that won't be tolerated. Either way, the club are probably right in taking the stance, and they'd be best to point out the consequence of anyone doing likewise on Thursday.

As has been said, get as many flags etc in as poss, and why not go for the older fashioned twirling your scarf above your head as the team comes out: much as I can't stand them, I'm always quite impressed when the Jambos do it.

  7. aberdeen away on boxing day is a disgrace. Don't think there will be many travelling fans going to that one

My initial thoughts are that I quite fancy the trip with the potential of being off work on the 27th.

And I suppose the Sheepies end up with a journey at this time of the year on a fair number of occassions, so maybe due a turn at home - as mentioned, outside of Utd and maybe St Johnstone, it's a journey for everyone

  8. Remember the game starts at 12:45. Or do you intend taking your seat after we're 1 - 0 up?

If I'm still helping with the 'wee' fellas team next year, I'll need to have stern words with the league committee and tell them no fixtures competing with the Mighty Well  but at least we were 1 up as opposed to 1 down. Driving like a maddy from Falkirk's not recommended though.

Intend being there in plenty off time this week as he's no game this week - see you there :yahoo:

  9. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

You have a good 'un - like the trips up there but unfortunately missing this one.

Looking forward to a trip to Perth in a couple of weeks though - hopefully see you up there

  10. As shown in the Leeds game, hooped socks and white shorts looked very smart with the simpler, cleaner 125 top.

Quite like the new strip although I wouldn't have had the collar insert and I'd have stuck with amber sleeves.

IMO, the above retro kit, simple as it is, is pretty unbeatable

  11. Just beggars belief that any club would want to discourage any fan from attending their ground :dash2:

I was probably going to go, but now of the opinion that why should we give them money if they're determined to keep part of our fan base away - for some away games that I've been at, they'd be next to no atmosphere at all if it wasn't for these guys.

May be a night for a trip out to FP

  12. I thought we played reasonably well against the Midden at their place in December, but a combination of not making the most of numerous good chances, and giving away two poor goals right on half-time killed us.

And that type of games is what worries me about them - going back to MacPherson's time, they just seem to get the better of us, whether deserved or otherwise.

Would love to see another good performance and scoreline, but as long as we score one more than them, I'll take it

  13. Looking at the prices, would guess it's either £9 or £6 - this is a situation where it may be worth contacting the club to see if there's a possibility of getting a complimentary. I know the club want to maximise income, but these nippers are potentially the Dossers of the future, and why not do everything possible to get the bug of going into them.

5's & under should be free entry anyway IMO

  14. Change days since they used to open one gate up at half time and let everyone in for free.

Changed days indeed - remember in the old terracing days you could have a look over the wall and have a look at a fair number waiting to get in for nothing at half time or just after.

  15. What's the club's policy on letting people in at half time?

I'm a season ticket holder in the East Stand but can't make this till around half time/late first half - what's my chances? would be gutted to miss this one!

Last time I got there that late, the steward opened the gate and let me in that way, although maybe I caught him on a good day: I'm pretty sure they leave one gate open to half time as it is.

Might be best to keep yourself right though, and give the club a call to confirm.

  16. I agree with that 100% mate. Wasn't that bothered on Saturday morning, half due to a hangover and half little interest.

Saying that, Saturdays performance really excited me. The fact we were playing with so many flair players who were going all over the park really was a joy to watch. Ojamma, Law, Higgenbotham, Humphrey, and then we had ZFA and Boab on the bench and of course the fat useless goal machine upfront who does heehaw except score goals.

I want to see more of the same.

And now we know Faddy won't be playing tomorrow, then for once I agree with Dazzer. Same team as Saturday.

Completely agree with Sieb & above

Wasn't really up for Saturday, and in general, I got the feeling that was the case for a large part of the crowd as there was little atmosphere when the game started - but credit where it's due, I thought it was a really good game. Enjoyed our forward play, with plenty to be happy about, and Higginbotham did himself no harm by the willingness to chase things down, and run at players when the opportunity arose - sure, he lost the ball a fair few times, but it didn't stop him going back for more. He, Ojamaa and Law on that type of form could cause teams real problems .

All in all, looking forward to tomorrow night

  17. Got no doubt that we should be beating the Sheep, home or away, but I reckon tonight will way too close

Has to be said though that I'm a lot more positive after Saturday's display, especially 1st half - we knocked the ball about well, as we often do, but it seemed to have a sense of purpose about it on Sat.

Not sure who I'd drop, but I thought Angol did enough to be well in contention for a start, and for me it'd be in front of Hammy again - let Hammy do his job and FZA can power on

    Whoever plays, cannae wait

  18. ICT will have to start with more players up the park, as they did for the last 10 mins of the 1st - we weather the storm and don't concede early, we should be too strong for them, but we have to force the play as much as possible.

Certainly look impressive so far yes.gif

  19. Down In Rothesay for the weekend and can't make the game, anyone know a pub that will show the game, cheers

I was down in Rothesay on Sunday and watched the game in the Galatea - it's a Celtic haunt, but I generally go there to watch the Well if I happen to be there and a game's on. Seen a couple of well fans watching on a couple of occassions, albeit they may have been visiting.

Think it's AllyMax who's from Rothesay or Port Bannatyne, and he may give a different shout, but according to the wife, who's a Brandane, most places are Buns pubs.

Wherever you go, hopefully you'll enjoy
