The Foujat case was different though. He was injured before he played for Celtic and that's why the PCA was ripped up. I don't see us putting Halliday through a medical when he's already played for us. I can't read the article. It's behind a pay wall for me.
-
Tbh I think that if he's signed on a PCA then Motherwell will need to see it out. I'm not particularly calling for him to go but it's a legally binding agreement and if we broke it we'd be very likely liable to compensate him.
-
Yeah. I have seen this and Ive said elsewhere on the boards that this was the case, that his deal was going to become permanent - I think what people are wondering is if this is a PCA. It certainly looks like it is but the club haven't worded it in that way which is causing the confusion.
-
I've no idea but I think it would be unusual if I club said to him prove your worth and you'll get a deal at the end. I did see something that gave a list of players and it said that Halliday had signed a PCA but I can't find it. It's possible someone posted that list on pie and bov and that's where I saw it. I also get that we aren't a charity but if he's signed a PCA then if its cancelled I assume Motherwell will have to pay compensation.

Miller has signed until summer 2026

The Brittain situation was a bit different. He signed a PCA with St Johnstone and wanted to stay at Ross County whereas Halliday may have signed a PCA with Motherwell and some fans don't think he's up to the job and don't want him next season. Not sure we could just rip a PCA up if he's signed one without being liable for compensation. Im sure though that there will be folk on here with more legal knowledge than I have (zero) that will know where Motherwell would stand legally if we didn't want Halliday next season. Pre contracts aren't legally binding in England but they are in Scotland.

Yes. Richard Brittain.

I didn't say in my post that you said that Kettlewell wasn't up to the job because of the lack of cup success. It was a general observation. As I've said more than once. There's nothing more I would like than to see Motherwell get top six or higher every season. I wouldn't have spent decades following the club and buying season tickets and putting into the society if I didn't want to see the club do well. Im just not going to see everything in black and white terms of top six and good cup run is success and everything else is failure.

I think it was.

I didn't take offence. I just think personally over this season I've seen posts on here and on other forums where people post saying most fans think this or that . There's around 30 people who post on here regularly if that. I also think the poor cup run is being used to suggest that Kettlewell isn't up to the job. When was the last time Motherwell had a decent cup run? For clarification. There's nothing I'd like better than to see Motherwell get top six every year. I was delighted when we last got top six. However for me the main objective is to avoid relegation and that isn't because I don't want success for my club - it's because retaining our top flight status is essential. I don't want to see us drop down into a league that we might struggle to get back out of. We've made top six 9 times in the last twenty years so it's obvious there are going to be seasons where we make it. Seasons where we just miss out and seasons like this.

He was injured I believe - there was talk of him being a doubt during the week.
-
I'd be very surprised if it were a gentlemans agreement. Surely given the fact that other clubs were after him he would want some kind of security. If there was a PCA can Motherwell cancel it? Everything on the Internet re Halliday makes clear that his deal was going to become permanent in the summer.
-
I'd be very surprised if any of the aforementioned players went possibly apart from Slattery who might want to go elsewhere after he recovers. As for Halliday he's been offered a one year deal so to let him go would presumably cost us money. Moses has played 45 mins of football in total. Think it's too early to make a decision about whether he's a squad player or not. I personally think Slattery is a much better player than some of the players you are suggesting we keep.

When was the last time we had a good cup run? Quarter final in 2022? Semi finals under Robinson?
-
Ferrie and Ross did get game time. They were subbed on in the 77th minute.

McGinn is 19 months older than SOD. SOD has just turned 32.

It's not about being happy or not happy as far as I'm concerned. It's absolutely fine as far as I'm concerned to be ok with avoiding relegation. I think given the shit run we were on its fine to be ok about where we finished. Other people are perfectly entitled to be upset about our league placing. And tbh it really doesn't matter that much whether people agree with me or I agree with them.
-
Surely people can have different opinions. I'm happy that we avoided relegation. It doesn't mean I don't want us to do better. As for most of us. What does that mean? Most people on here. Most supporters?
-
I don't see him going anywhere either.
-
I assume SOD must have been carrying a knock or been unwell.
-
That's not what I suggested. We probably didn't deserve it when we got it a couple of seasons ago either.
-
The point I was making was that a few weeks ago we still had a chance of top six.
-
We just missed out even with that squad

I know about the winless run. Was mentioned once or twice on here 😏
