  1. Right, who is the guy Ice Rink ? I have no idea, but he gets mentioned a lot. Was he banned ?

Whereabouts in Mancunia are you, mate, and do you lean toward red or blue ?

I've just pre-ordered mine online. I don't suppose the guys in the shop will be getting too many requests from Manchester, so that'll be me. Get it posted, fellas
  4. The big fella can speak up for himself, but if he were a hardline anti-Irish type, I suspect he'd be more likely to be found at Ibrox rather than Fir Park.
  5. I don't think that's fair, mate. If you're implying big special is bigoted, that isn't the impression I get. I'm sure he'd accept anyone who could do a good job.
  6. But what are the man's credentials ? It would be out of the blue and there are so many others with a better track record.
  7. Not a chance. Staunton was laughed out of the Ireland job.
  8. Seems a really nice guy, but his Leeds connections turned me against him. However, I'm now back on message with that revelation, calfster. And then there was the post on here about him being Lenny Bennet's doppelganger, which had me laughing out loud
  9. Thanks for the link, netherton. Bit out of the blue that. His stock was high when in charge of N.I. and he's a fairly big name, though clearly not flavour of the month at Fulham.
  10. Is Lawrie Sanchez actually in the running for the job? Don't recall seeing him mentioned in the huge next manager thread.
  11. Ssssshhhhhh, don't tell anyone that. Isn't it £999 per season for that? Sure I read it on the official site. Mum's the word
  12. Jesus . So much for grassroots football. That is scandalous. Wonder whether Setanta will find the money by Friday, and even if they do, it might only be a temporary reprieve as they are in serious straits.
  13. Man, I'm envious of your S.T. prices. £779 for me next season, and that's before cup games. Another summer of bread and water for me.
  14. I think the differences of opinion in this thread highlight that, as ever, there are two sides to every story. None of us know what really happens in these moves because we aren't privy to what goes on in the background. We only have public utterances and rumours to go on. London Irish makes a fair point that McGhee was honest enough to say Motherwell weren't the height of his ambitions and that he would like to move on to a bigger stage at some point. Then again, I can sympathise with those who feel he seemed at times too pre-occupied with his next job, which came across as a lack of respect for his then employers. Motherwell brought him in from the wilderness, following two years of unemployment, and he could have been more tactful in his public comments. I'm sure all 'Well fans knew he would leave, probably sooner rather than later, and Aberdeen has an emotional pull for McGhee he was never going to turn down. How honourable or otherwise he behaved may become clearer in the days and weeks ahead, but he's gone and the most important thing now is for Motherwell to get a good replacement.

It certainly isn't all gloom and doom. You guys have seen Motherwell go into administration and face extinction. Losing a manager is a picnic in comparison.
  16. That's me Calfster, and I'm doing ok for a novice Gannon would give you a real shot in the arm, he worked miracles at Stockport (not far from me) and they are gutted he had to go due to their financial crisis. Young, hungry, he would create a buzz about Firk Park. If you could get him, it would be a bit of a coup.
  17. There's the difference between a fan and an employee, mate. You are indeed lucky to work at the club you support, we'd all love to be in that position. By the way, what's this award you've won as best guy in your job etc, as quoted above?
  18. Certainly the fans' choice on here, but what of his experience? I know nothing of the guy, but his record as reported on this thread is nothing to write home about. This is no time for sentimentality, getting the best man possible is the thing. Could he take you forward ?
  19. But is that easier said than done? They are bigger and more powerful than the rest of Scottish football combined. Mightn't picking a fight with them result in cutting of your nose to spite your face, so it's everyone else who loses out ? Need to be shrewd.
  20. A coach but not a manager. He'd be better working under the system in place in many European countries where the first team coach has no role in transfer policy.
  21. He tells me that Aberdeen have offered to triple his salary, will give him a company car and will even throw in Jimmy Calderwood's old sunbed ( one careful owner ) and that, whilst he's enjoyed his time at Fir Park enormously, it's now time for his career to take a step up ( copyright M McGhee ). Don't shoot the messanger

If the training kit is up to the standard of the new home strip, you'll be fine. I may invest in an item or two.
  23. What are the latest odds, folks? Anyone emerged as a red hot favourite ?
  24. Is that view shared by other 'Well fans you have spoken with, Eddie? I may be shot down in flames for this, but doesn't he deserve a bit better? He did thank Motherwell and spoke warmly of the club. He oversaw two good years for the most part, the third place finish being amazing in what was such a traumatic season, and his handling of the Phil O'Donnell tragedy was very tactful and genuine. Aberdeen will always have an emotional pull for him and, being totally objective, he has moved to a bigger club. Just saying like, not telling 'Well fans how they should feel about the guy.
  25. McGhee was just talking to Jim White on Sky just then. He is 'delighted'
