  1. In relation to whether or not it is good to have a go at some players, then I would have to say yes. He has set himself up as a hard task master and put maybe a bit of uncertainty into pro's who thought they had already made it. Every time I heard o'brien got the ball he was piss at crossing. Sutton wasn't mobile which I think we would need if we are to play one up with 3 behind which would have been ideal for clarky. As for craigen I have to say that he (from the comments) was at fault for the goal but i also remember when he was in the team after crimbo and the run that we went on. With Mclean having left for falkirk. He is the best defender he has and I think reynolds plays better with the experience alongside him. It is thought the first game. The manager has given the side the kick up the arse. He as a manager has laid down to the players that he isn't taking any shite. He expects results and the side should watch out. Hopefully this will motovate some players to put in a more energetic performance than Thursday at least. I would also agree with the other posts. It isn't slating Craigen just saying what he the manager saw. It is pure journalistic sensationalism. Am sure craigs will put that behind him and get on with it. You saw that in his interview before JG was appointed. Mon the well.
  2. Aye that is a good bet. You can buy us all a pint then when we come down.
  3. Think JG will have learnt a lot tonight. Youngsters sounded good if a bit rusty, and suton could do with perhaps being more mobile, is that really his game though. Lost in a bit of a freakish way with the goalie falling into the net. Am still positive though for the return fixture think if we get the tempo right we will be less toothless. Mon the well
  4. I know it is frustrating but should we be booing this early. Come on game 1 of the season. New personel new system. Looks like we are doing everything but score and we are booing? WTF. patience. Though clarky coming on as a sub would help my nerves.
  5. actually it says that the contract is still being worked on. Hope it all goes well. Wouldn't want to have to go back to sanchez et al to say actually ganon didnae fancy it you still interested. Am sure it will be fine though. Mon the ghost mon the well. Viva the ghost revolution, good youngsters, good chat and good football.
  6. just on the fishel site confirming gannon
  7. If you are willing to wait a couple of years for him to get things into place, you will be very, very well set from then on & I completely guarantee future success. from the p and b site. Lets hope that he is signed up then for the long term. Seems to be a loyal guy with only stockport going into administration which took him away. Could the ghost just add a bit of spirit to the club and get us back to 3rd. Will be difficult indeed if we lose the players we think we will. Is JB looking at long term for once? I thought Nijholt was the man as he had the record for bringing on the youngsters. Seems that Ghost is the same so good luck to him. If it is a long term thing though we must remember to be patient and give him time. Think he will already be playing catch up with the players we are likely to lose. Will be bloody interesting though. As a side issue if the cat is out the bag and ganon is the man then why don't we just anounce tomorrow who the new manager is. Whats the point waiting for Monday/nxt week?
  8. Over the last few transfer windows it seems to have been difficult to bring in any players. We already have a small squad and are losing the spine of the team. if the rumours on these boards are right. We will lose smith, hughes, clarkson, mclean, reynolds. the spine is where you need to be solid. We also need to have cover. I think it is a bigger gamble to get rifd of all these players then try and bring other players in. Yes we have to appreciate that we are a club who needs to sell. But surely we have to have one in one out. The other threads stated that we needed 5 or so players to bring the squad up to a decent size let alone replace our decent players. that could mean that we have to bring in 10/11 players. This surely is to many. I seem to remember 6 players being paraded one season and it took them ages to gel together. Hence am more for smaller budget keep the team.
  9. Will need a lot more players than one per round with the way things are going. At this rate we will be relegated.
  10. Instead of slagging the other team shouldn't we concentrate on our own. This could be ideal for a couple of the youngsters to stake a claim for the full squad, and impress the next manager whether they are in post or not. We need to be mentally atuned to an early pre season game which will have a meaning. Llanelli will be up for it looking to take what has been suggested is a bigger scalp. Indeed some of their players may be looking to clinch a move to a so called bigger club. What we really should do is circulate a story that we are interested in their under 21 striker and hopefully the presure will get to them. If we treat this as just another warm up match we will get egg on our face. Just look at last years cup. Like all well sides get it right in the head and we are half way to sucess. as for the tickets have to say I appreciate llanelis position it isn't in their interest to have a massive well support there so why let them in. Just shows they have the belief that they can beat us so why give us any help.
  11. thought craigans reaction to sanchez's name was telling on his bbc interview. he didn't seem all that happy with that thought though went on to talk him up ok. He did say he was like MM, which I took to be he will do alright then be offski!
  12. Craigs didn't look all that enamoured when sanchez's name was mentioned.
  13. Anyone know what is happening with the pre-season? Is the team off to sunny parts or the icy rivers of austria as in the past couple of years? Rancid reports that Craigs is in charge of the preseason, anyone heard anything as to who is in charge? Surely arrangements would have been in place before MM left the club? or has europe thrown it all in the air?
  14. Surely thats the point no one has went for him. despite his wealth of experience. Don't think Mcallister or mcghee has sanchez leavel of experience. If he is a good manager then why is he interested in the challenge of motherwell. The challenge would surely lie with a bigger team in a bigger league. as for the professional well they are professional - get on with it. the would also surely appreciate what the man did as a player. What youth development has sanchez brought on? Am asking the question as I don't know. We need to develop the youth. We have had a fairly good season with the youngsters in there respective leagues so we need a guy to bring them on. we will no doubt be loosing hughes. Smith, clarky. With money tight (setanta?) time to bring in the youth. Would accept though that sanchez didn't get the time at fulham to develo the youth but he did buy some dodgy players as per the fulham fans post on the other thread
  15. Clarky he has been sensational in the last two seasons. He isn't JUST the top goalscorer outside the Old Firm he is just a gem of a player. He will run all day long and has real passion for the club. He has just completed his EIGTH season in which he has played for the Motherwell SENIOR team. He is 23 what he said. Could do with a bit of a polishing but 10/10 for effort. 10/10 for playing for the team. 8/10 for finishing 7/10 for first touch. On his day I think he is better than maccormick
  16. With our finances don't think we will be in a position to go out and buy players therefore surely the manager with the best record at bringing on the youngsters must be appointed. The stats seem to suggest that Luc did no worse than what we did. If he can bring on the youngsters as he appears to have done or as suggested in some of the previous posts then .... In Luc Nijholt I trust I would question why sanchez has been out of the game for so long. If he was any good surely as he is a name with international experience etc then someone in England championship or even 1st div would go get him. Particularly as he did over england. Why has no one went for him since with premiership and international experience? As a youngster surely luc gets you wanting to play, with his record of sorting out youth systems it would give the youngsters faith that if they are good enough they will progress and get games. Conversly sanchez hasn't done that well as a club manager compared to internationals where a side is effectivly already being coached at there own club.
  17. Not sure if Killie did get kyle but think he would be a good shout. particularly if we can keep Clarky. I know a few killie fans and they put kyle down as the reason they are still in the Spl. Kilmarnock are like us and don't have any money so could be a swap deal or something.
  18. I think the great club servant bit comes from the way which he dealt with the tragic loss of Phil O'donnell. I much admired him about the way he went about his buisness at that time. He hasn't done anything which you couldn't see coming. The hearts approach identified that he wanted european football. That coupled with his past record and the noises he was making of a bigger club. Wasn't too hard to see what was going to happen. Question is now what is happening with the team. I see some posts stated that Leitch was still with us until a new man takes over. I question if this is a good idea. The players will know he won't be around will they be trying there hardest to impress for the season ahead. This is a vital season for us we have a small squad as it is with the possability of losing 3 /4 of our best (I can see MM coming in for clarky). It is vital then that we get a good pre season down especially with the youngsters who we will have to call on this season as the new manager will have no budget to spend and no time to get players in with the early start. What then is happening? Are we still going to the frozen streams of Austria? When will this take place? It seems to be address somewhat in the article from the offishel site but would be good to know. "Meanwhile, at Fir Park, the task begins today to find a new manager. This will be done on a timely basis and we will quickly address what arrangements can be put in place to look after the team during the early European campaign.” Small squad europe as a distraction (taking it we get into the later rounds) The next manager will have a tough time. As for MM thanks for what you did, but if no one trusts you due to your media savy comments you only have yourself to blame.
  19. Has the lassie fae Blue peter got any managment experience? Gary Mac must surely be interested what has he done since leeds? Joe jordan would be awsome but reality says no. Not enough money in the ark. If the reports are true and we get 200k for MM then thats surely our pitch paid for. All we need then is a free manager and we are no worse off unless the new manager is dross obviously. Williamson might be good for a couple of international contacts but I said the same about Malpas and look what happened there. Jeffries is gash and can only see him hiring former hearts players from the 80's. Knox wouldn't take it in my opinion, he is too used to bigger clubs. Billy davies?
  20. I suppose that is the problem in getting a manager with a profile. The bigger teams will come poaching. Same thing is happening down south wigan small team (lowest attendances in the english premiership) get their manager taken by Sunderland. Martinez up and coming taken by Wigan. Real issue then is for Smeltics size (attendances pretty much guaranteed trophies and europe) why is a manager opting for wigan. Has to be either money or better league. Outside the old firm the league is of a low standard in comparrison, indeed you can argue that the old firm are shite too. Old firm can't compete until the rest of the league gets a better standard. MMG did well 1st season. Second season was disappointing but I really think that was down to harsh injuries (look at our perfomance post christmas). He has links to both aberdeen and celtic so they in the current financial situation with the recession and setanta, with the pound having a poor performance against the euro are looking for someone in scotland to step up. Am just gutted that Aberdeen could take our manager, but in the end that all comes down to finances. Aberdeens finances are better than ours. Question is if MMG does go, what is our next step? Do we have a list of targets? Malpas anyone?
  21. Not to count our chickens but good to know the club are looking ahead. Whats the thoughts though? if we are to win it we have another 17 games on top of all the other games in a season surely we need a bigger squad
  22. With the two bookings how does that affect the europa cup place? Sounded like a good performance. Clarky must stay can't see us replacing smith hughes and clarky should he go.
  23. Magic. Wish the full team was as successful. Well done to the girls would be good to see some tribute to their hard work in the coming few games as suggested above.
