  1. I'm sure the club had no choice, as Bukta were struggling, so much that a few teams had to quickly change manufacturer as Bukta couldn't deliver the goods as promised. I'm not even sure if they still supply kits to professional teams. I think their core business is now retro leisurewear and amateur teamwear. Shame as they were once the biggest supplier of football kits in Britain and probably Europe.
  2. I just noticed this video on youtube of the great Ian St John filmed before the 1991 Final. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prYBe2kZmxc
  3. The Well shop Facebook page has already answered the question of when we will get to see the new kits. A: Once we have them to show you!
  4. Not to worry, I may try a long sleeve version at some point.
  5. Thanks for the kind comments Auldyin. It’s not meant to be an exact replica of our 50’s kit, but more of a design excercise on how a present day Umbro template would look with some added 1950’s design elements. “Modern” Umbro templates lend themselves to this type of treatment as their designers are influenced by vintage design. I suspect Admiral (if they are wise!) will go down a similar route by looking to their past when designing future kits. You are correct about the long sleeves, as shorts sleeves didn’t come into regular use until the 1960’s.
  6. If that happens, I'll get my no win, no fee lawyers on the case. Unless of course they send me a design fee.
  7. I sent it off to Admiral and their reponse was “Very classy and refined...we like!” You never know with a bit of luck we might be able to avoid that Phillipino sweatshop!
  8. They somehow managed to omit that shocker from the promotional video. There is no doubt that the goal machine has earned himself a place in Motherwell folklore, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. Anyone fancy creating a classic team of epic failures? I’m sure someone like Kampman, Malpas or Hynd will be up for the managers job.
  9. A return to black socks for a season could look quite smart. When teamed with white shorts and a traditional rugby style shirt, it starts to evoke memories of our 1950’s cup winning kit. At the moment Puma don’t really have a template that gives a 50’s retro look and a kit like this it would probably need to be manufactured by Umbro.
  10. I have always thought that a shirt tribute to our 1931-32 league winning side is long overdue. Although I’m personally not a big fan of rugby style kits, it would be quite nice to recognise this shirts historical significance by producing a retro replica of this top. Barring a minor miracle this will be the only Motherwell team to win the biggest prize in Scottish football. And unless the Old Firm go off on an atlantic adventure I’m certain it will never happen again. A shirt like this I would imagine would appeal to fans of a certain age, although it’s always good for the younger generation to be educated in the significance of this great sides achievement. This is only a rough mock up, but I imagine the finished shirt to be packed in a limited edition presentation box complete with squad picture and book on this history making side. ( I can but dream! )
  11. A young Art & Design student blogger has paid homage to our first C&A top. Check out his blog as he has done some interesting designs for some other sides as well. Pretty impressive for a 16 year old.
  12. The Brisbane Roar home is very similar to last seasons Arsenal away. Very smart.
  13. SteelmaninOZ’s talk of 70’s Admiral in the football kit thread got me thinking about how they might approach designing a present day Motherwell top. With Admiral now back in business they will probably be looking to get a small slice of todays football kit market. It’s too late for them to get back to their 70’s heyday but with some careful marketing they could tap into the publics never ending craving for all things retro. If this was a proper 70’s Admiral top they would have almost certainly have removed the claret hoop!
  14. So far out of the twelve SPL sides only Dundee United, Hearts, Hibernian, Rangers and St Mirren have revealed their new home kit. Out of those five only two (Hearts, St Mirren) have revealed their away as well. Celtic have only revealed their third kit. This leaves Aberdeen, Dunfermline, Inverness, Kilmarnock, Shite Johnstone and Motherwell as the sides yet to reveal any of their new gear. So I wouldn't say we are much different from the rest when it comes to missing a so called trick.
  15. If Killie get him it would be the loan signing of the season, in my opinion he is the most naturally gifted player in the SPL. I would take him in a heartbeat.
  16. No surprises there then! He always looked like he had early signs of arthritis.
  17. Strong rumours in Paisley that former Well players Stephen Hughes and Jim 'Stepover' Paterson are in possible signing talks with the Saints.
  18. I'm not sure what wage Terry was on at Motherwell but you can rest assured that the £350,000-a-year job Down Under was more than we were paying. So yes if it's down to money, he left for a better offer.
  19. Looks like they are vying to be the biggest squad in the SPL Champions for yet another year.
  20. I'm not sure of the in and outs of producing bespoke kits, you would need to ask awp about that. Although I think you are allowed to take the basic template and print any pattern you choose on to it. Partick's camouflage top was a good example of using a template in this creative way.
  21. Except in Rooney’s case it was a high class Granny!
  22. Interesting way to lure any up and coming star. I'm surprised more clubs don't adopt this radical signing policy!
