  1. League rules used to be whatever dimensions you started the season with and all clubs communicated it, they could not be altered mid-season.
  2. Saw that and I always thought that this other dugout has a better view of the whole pitch as it's literally on the halfway line. The (now) away dugout is almost halfway down that sideline. They said Alexander likes to be closer to the stand side linesman to "encourage" them to give us some decisions.
  3. Here's that match in question, copied from P&B. Look at the times of those 3 goals 78, 79, 80 tremendous
  4. Condolences to his family. Before my time but the name is synonymous with Liverpool & Motherwell. Shankly is known to credited his signings of St. John and Ron Yates as instrumental to Liverpool's rise. Think he worked at Motherwell Bridgeworks while signing for Motherwell and didn't he score a 2 1/2 minute hat-trick at a league cup tie at Easter Rd once? Singy, you're in with the bricks.
  5. Team today: Motherwell: Kelly, O'Donnell, Magloire, Lamie, Carroll, Maguire, Campbell, Crawford, Roberts, Cole, Watt. Substitutes: Morrison, McGinley, Devine, Gallagher, Polworth, Cornelius, Lawless, Hastie, Long.
  6. Let us not concede tonight and I won't tempt fate by saying more on that. Lack of quality to create a real chance, endeavour will only get you so far. Cole: cmon son get into the game Set peices: dearie me, 2 corners first 90 secs troubled me more in ma hoose than St.Mirren rearguard. Plus notes? Tannoy has them playing The Jam "That's Entertainment", not sure what gemme he's watching.
  7. Chucking your laptop and/or phone on the park.
  8. Moot point but who got the armband when O'Donnell got sent off?
  9. Forget yer 52 yarders, if Cole's Cruyff turn had resulted in a goal that's yer winner right there. Oh aye and as a ref myself I'm trying to figure out how that challenge on McGinley is not a penalty. Fur Fuch's sake, wonder if he'd a given a foul if it was the middle of the park? I know it's the same laws but Law 18 of the game says there needs to be a higher bar of evidence for foul play in the box.
  10. What happened to the erstwhile Jim Gannon? Don't mention the mini bus
  11. Not sure if anyone posted last week but Chick Young on the Sportsound last Thursday was on one. I actually quite like him and what he has to say normally but he was in full rant mode saying he would be "astonished and stunned" if those 0-3 scorelines were upheld, the presenter had to tell him to go away and calm down. Unwritten laws of Scottish football means anything that might just affect Celtic\Rangers needs to be treated with kid gloves. Personally expecting games ordered to be played and that suspended fine to remain, so in other words, no sanction at all for St.Mirren & Killie.
  12. I ken we're all waiting but are we expecting an announcement today? Any big fancy cars been spotted swooping into Fir Park Street?
  13. Mind that game as I bought my first Well scarf afore the game and it lasted easily into the 2000’s when someone in the family mistakenly washed it for the first time, ah wiz raging as it had carefully collected Irn Bru and then later lager stains on it. We were winning the First Division at the time and Dumbarton were in the process of being relegated. I’m sure it was a midweek game so must have been called off
  14. He certainly was. Reading recently about a Motherwell squad from the early 70's and pretty much every player came through the Junior ranks, even from teams like Douglas Water Thistle (amateur team?)
  15. I work in Dumbarton and can get a good 2.5 mile walk in if I go down and around the ground then back. From A814 main road turn left at Victoria St which leads on to Castle Rd and the ground is right in front of you. Looks like on street parking anywhere there shouldn’t be an issue.
  16. Big Shirley certainly did, 1989 old firm cup final. Don't remember much fuss being made about it.
  17. They have appealed Candeia’s red card (second yellow). Supposedly you can only appeal a yellow card if it’s mistaken identity and the team then has to name who should have received the yellow or wrongful simulation. No, me neither.
  18. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45835735 Chris Humphrey: Motherwell thanked by winger as he retires because of injury Winger Chris Humphrey says will "never forget" the support Motherwell gave him, after announcing his retirement from football because of injury. Humphrey, 31, lost his unborn son during his four-year spell at Fir Park - a time in which he played 163 games. The 31-year-old last played for Barrow on loan from Bury in February, having had a brief spell at Hibernian in 2017. "I've been playing for the last year or so with a lot of pain and I can't play through that anymore," he said. "Massive thank you to all the Motherwell fans. Everyone at the football club was great and I will never forget that." Wishing him and his family all the very best.
  19. That is indeed the problem. So the laws of the game are for everyone, is it just Scotland interpreting it this way? I referee Sat morning youths and I will now make a point to say to teams and coaches....do NOT go out kicking players just because you see them doing it on Sportscene. In my opinion the law needs to be amended and there is a process to do that. I would say kicking a player should be a red card, end of. The current process for review means it will either be a red card or nothing at all, cannot retrospectively yellow card a player.
  20. Is it the same lassie that aye dis the Queen of the South games? She will say "goal" then waiting for next 5 mins for her to tell us which team has scored. Dreadful.
