  1. How does this work in practice. Say if the club says if we sell 8,000 season tickets they will be £100. Do fans then have to promise to buy a ticket and by a certain deadline the club counts the numbers and then decides on the price. What happens if the number falls short of the magic figure. I assume fans can withdraw their offer of buying. What happens if 8015 say they will buy but when it comes to the crunch 300 pull out and don’t buy their ticket. Can’t see it happening personally but I wish we could attract enough people to make it work.
  2. My season ticket works out at £13.50 per game if I get to them all. That for me is good value. I have gone to fewer and fewer away games over the last five years. £20 -£25 is far too much especially when the money is going to the opposition not the Well.
  3. Motherwell has a tradition of great left backs who played for the club for years. Baldy Shaw (before my time) played right throught the fifties. Then Bobby McCallum who others have mentioned. I saw him play and he was outstanding. But as someone else mentioned liked a drink too much and did not achieve his considerable potential. Then there was Joe wark in the late sixties and through the seventies. After them there has been Boyd, McKinnon, McMillan and Hammell, all great players. However to be the best ever you must have played for years and so on this forum there can be no other than Joe Wark as very few posters will remember Baldy Shaw who became groundsman for many years after he stopped playing.
  4. Just looked at the official site and a reserve team beat Dunfermline 3-1 today. Number 4 in the team was listed as Hughes. Was anyone there and was this Stephen Hughes. If so how did he play?
  5. Like others have said I always feared Higdon when he played against us. He seemed to bully Craigan every time. I'm sure I saw him score a cracking goal against us at Falkirk a couple of seasons back. A big strong forward who should get on the end of crosses and hopefully Humph and Jamie will provide them.
  6. Where do you start with that. Everyone said before the game to win we need two things to happen – Celtic to be below par and every one of our players to be on top of their game. I thought Celtic were very poor but unfortunately we never turned up. They were there for the taking but it never happened. Despite that if it hadn’t been for two inches and a referee who was a shite bag we could have gone in at half time 1-1 and a man up. Our big attacking players Humphrey and Murphy never got into the game and so Sutton was left with no service. The conditions were maybe tricky but that is no excuse for the number of passes we misplaced. How often did we gift them possession after our shy. I thought Hutchison after a nervy start and Craigan were our best performers. I also thought that our tactics gave Celtic too much respect and we should have been in their faces much more. It is so annoying to lose to those bastards. Their support is delusional. They sing the praises of a manager who came second in a two horse race and beat us in a cup final when we have a fraction of their budget. Oh I forgot he‘s an Irish Catholic so that makes him great. How much influence did his continual rants at referees have on our ref today. I suspect the ref was scared to send off Mast whatever his name for the hand ball. He knew if he did it would have caused a furore in the media but if he didn’t it would get a couple of lines and be forgotten about. Still its been a great season. One that every Well fan can be proud of. Don’t let the bastards grind you down.
  7. My dad took me to my first game in 1960. I took him to his last game in 1991. I managed to blag a stand seat for him as he could not have stood for 90 or as it turned out 120 minutes. I left him at the main stand and my daughter and I went to the family section. I will never forget meeting him behind the main stand after the game. He was waving his walking stick in the air and gave his grand daughter the biggest hug ever. Sadly he passed on a couple of years later. What a thread I have been in tears reading them. If the players read this thread they will surely bust a gut tomorrow and can be in no doubt what it means to the fans.

    Aberdeen

Went for Humphrey but what a hard man Hutchie is. When Maguire fouled him and he disappeared over the advertising boards I feared he had been injured. But up he got shook himself down and got on with it. Like someone else said he didn't have his best game on Wednesday but played well today.

    Craig Brown

I can imagine Broon sitting in his Milne home tonight totally embarrassed. He has been shown up for what he is. A snivelling wee two faced liar. He talked about his dignity. He did not look very dignified running after Boyle. His interview where he said that the supporters would not have booed him if they knew the full story sounded desperate. Typical of him say something then have absolutely nothing to back it up. When he said the he was glad the police saw the incident this was clearly a bluff. Boyle said something but it was Brown who ran after him so if anyone is in the wrong its him. Another example of him trying to get the high ground. This is the man who wrote anonymous letters to the SFA blaming his backroom staff for things going wrong for Scotland. He’s a serial shagger who treats women like dirt. Its time the media came out and told the truth. It pleases me to think that the abuse he got after the second goal today really got to him. We got our own back today and it feels great.
  10. People around me were surprised at the crowd announcement. I was in the O'Donnell stand. It must have been empty behind me as I don't know where the 6000 empty ones were. They certainly weren't in the Cooper East or South Stand
  11. That is what supporting the Well is all about. Today is why I buy a season ticket every year. The feeling that performance and result gave me was worth every penny of my season ticket. For all you doubters and those that didn’t turn up shame on you. Keep the faith
  12. All I can say is we better hope that we get into the top six. After what I saw yesterday Accies will be relegated and possibly isolated by the time the split comes. Our games in the bottom six will be totally meaningless and will be a taster for a lot of games in a proposed 16 team league. I am old enough to remember the 18 team league in the sixties and we usually finished mid table with around 34 points from 34 games (two points for a win) and we had nothing to play for during the last few weeks of the season.
  13. I only made it three. Lasley, Forbes and Murphy
  14. Brilliant result. What a turn round from Saturday. I enjoyed Broon’s interview after the game. He seemed shell shocked. Poor old man. Oh I almost forgot GIRFUY Broon
  15. Not too bothered by the defeat at Ibrox. If we had played well we would be coming away saying how disappointed we were to play so well but still get beat. It is important that we play well and win against Accies and St Midden. If we do then there will be no chance of relegation. At the moment Accies have 14 points from 23 games. To pass us they would need to get 15 from their next 15 games assuming we lose every game. My worry is that Craigan and Lasley played with injuries yesterday. I hope they are fully fit for Tuesday. If there was the slightest chance that they would worsen their injuries they should not have played and if they have then this is rank bad management. We have a very small squad and have been playing since the beginning of July. Players are jaded and need a rest but there is no one to bring in. If McCall is to blame its because he did not strengthen in the window so that we could rest some players. Beat Accies and St Mirren and relegation is gone. Bring in the young guys gradually over the last few months and see what they can do. I don’t hold with all this talk of McCall liking Rangers. The missus brought in an Express after the Stranraer game and the report was almost all about Gunning Talking about Diouf and their time together at Blackburn. The press will always twist things to an Old Firm angle.

    Semi Final

So disappointed by the result today. I thought we out played them for a long spell in the second half. Lasley’s goal when it came was overdue. I still think we are a too slow in the build up. We need to break forward quicker. Murphy did not have his best game but I would have liked to have seen him through the middle after Jones came on so that he could have tested Weir with his pace. Rangers were crap and were there for the beating. Sadly we could not cash in. Teams have sussed Humphrey out and double team on him. Papac is a good defender but Humph did beat him a couple of times but his crossing is still poor. I thought Hutch stood up to the test well and it is a must that we get Jennings signed up. He was a stand out. Big week coming up. Hope we can recover from the disappointment and beat Killie and get through in the cup.

    *negativity*

Surely Sunday is what supporting the Well is all about. The feeling we will get if we win will never be experienced by the glory hunters that follow the Scum. Ok most of us expect to lose but I will be there hoping to get the incredible high if we win. How about Arnott 2 at Ibrox around 1993 O’Neill’s and Kirk ‘s goals in the semi against Celtic Spencer’s debut goal Ross’s winner when Dolan went in goal Beating Celtic when we were bottom and in administration Skippy Sunday Just maybe we will be able to add Sunday to that list.

    Ins & Outs

Gunning played a lot of games for Rotherham. He was in their team that lost to Dagenham at Wembley in May. From the Wikipedia web site it looks as if he played left back that day in front of 30000 so he has some experience. Hutchinson has been great since he came back but he has also been lucky. The mistake he made against Inverness could have cost us but it didn’t. He is a young player and will make mistakes. I will back all Well players but people on here are willing to back some more than others. If Craigan, Forbes or Fitzpatrick had made that mistake against Inverness there would have been a queue here waiting to moan about them. If Gunning is our only signing I will be disappointed as the defence is not the main priority but as it stands we only have Hammell as a left footer so it does make some sense. As for all the young players who seem to be getting passed over McCall sees them everyday in training and we have to trust his judgement on whether they are ready or not. We can’t judge players until they have played five or six games (remember Juke wasn’t great at the start) so there is no point speculating on here on how good Gunning will be. Gunning may or may not be great and become a first pick but at the least he will help if Hammell, Hutchison or Craigan get injured. Lets hope we get an attacking midfielder and a goal scorer in by Monday.

    Ins & Outs

I'm quite pleased about Humphrey signing on but he needs to fulfil his potential in the next year or so and then we can cash in on him. I'd be absolutely delighted though if it was Jennings that had signed an extension.

    Semi Final

The final against them a few years ago was a great day out until five past three. I’d love to see us put it right up them this time. I have my ticket but to be honest if we get more than 3500 then I will be surprised. Only die hard fans will go when its live on the telly. And lets face it Hampden is not the best place for a good view,

    Scottish Fitba

Very difficult to organise a boycott and only the teams at home that weekend would suffer financially. Teams that were away that weekend would not suffer.

    Ins & Outs

Whethre you like it or not if he brings four players who do not improve our present team and we slip down into the bottom three or four some people will have the knives out for him.

    Ins & Outs

This is now the big test for McCall. Any new manager likes to put his stamp on the team. When he came in he was told he would have to move players out before he could get new ones in. He’s now moved on four players. As far as I’m concerned he stands or falls with who he brings in. Here’s hoping he can spot a player like Gannon and can motivate them like Brown and Knox.
  24. When the draw was made I was sure I would be there. Third round of the cup has always been special. The last third round game I missed was Aberdeen in 91 until Inveruruie then Inverness last year. Doubt if I'll go this year £15 to get in and £30 for petrol. Four hours in the car yet a five minute walk to the pub 3 or 4 pints for the admission money and then home. Another habit broken. Football has sold out to TV and I fear when the companies lose interest the game will die.
  25. Motherwell 3 - 0 Rangers Kenny Miller to miss a penalty for Rangers. Craigan to open the scoring and Jamie Murphy to add two goals late on on the counter attack as the Attilas push for an equaliser. Substitute Hurlock, Softie and Dougie and youve reminded me of one of the best ever wins we have had against them. It was 91 just before the cup final. Oh how I wish your prediction comes true.
