  1. I'm pretty sure Jens will be off. He looked totally pissed off last night with the decisions made over the season. I don't want him to leave but feel it is now inevitable. Hopefully he will go to Europe or England and tell the SFA and the media exactly what he thinks. A young progressive manager hounded out of Scotland by nonentities like Collum, Dallas and the blazers at the SFA.
  2. It has to be Beaton. He had the biggest influence on the result.
  3. I watch Match of the Day and in the EPL the VAR does not get involved nearly as much as in Scotland. That tonight was a disgrace. None of the fans behind the goal nor any Celtic player claimed for a penalty. Beaton looks at it. He knows if he does not give it he will be subjected to days of abuse in the media, maybe be physically threatened, assaulted or have his windows panned in. Taking all these factors into his head it's no wonder he gave the pen. The game is corrupt. Nothing has been done about the disgraceful scenes at Ibrox after the cup game and nothing will be done about the Celtic fans invading the pitch tonight. But we will probably be fined for the pyros.
  4. With no goalscorer tonight SOD's block on Shankland was the equivalent of a goal. He showed great energy to get up and down the park. He had one deft reverse pass back to Ward and but for an uncut toenail would have got the winning goal. Praise too to Gordon who didn't put a foot wrong after being on the sidelines for so long.
  5. I just wonder if Jens is getting as pissed off as the rest of us with the downright incompetence of our officials both on and off the field. It is quite possible that he will feel he can't continue here and look for a move to the English Championship or nearer home in Europe. If that happens I hope the powers in the game are ashamed that they have driven away one of the most innovative managers this country has seen in years.
  6. Just was all over the park and has learned to shoot. Went for him. But considering we have lost our potential player of the year in Watt and have not missed him. Lots of credit must go to Priestman for that.
  7. It was a shite draw . There was a 50per cent chance we could ha.ve got Kelty, Elgin, Stenny or Spartans
  8. I thought Priestman was excellent. He always made himself available and never wasted a ball. If Watt is off he is an obvious replacement.
  9. The unconscious bias towards the Old Firm has been here for years. As Well fans we remember Derek Johnstone in the 70s semi, Craigan's disallowed goal for off side when a defender and the goalie were on the line. Refs are aware that if they give a wrong or dodgy decision against the Old Firm they will be slaughtered in the press and will suffer personal abuse. Remember Dallas getting his windows panned in. Now with VAR they can take time not only to decide if the decision is correct they also have time to weigh up the consequences of their decision. Less and less subjective decisions will go against the Old Firm. Factual ones like offside will be harder for them to manipulate.
  10. Off topic but I have just watched Kilmarnock's equaliser at Tynecastle. The lines are drawn and it is identical to Hendry's disallowed goal on Saturday. The scorer is leaning and his shoulder is in front of the defender but this one stood. Very frustrating.
  11. 0-0 A clean sheet and keeper really didn't have a save. So it has to be a defender. Toss up between Welsh and McGinn. Went for McGinn.
  12. it was not our day on Saturday. The first two goals had an element of luck. Others say the ball was moving at the quick free kick. I thought the player who received the ball was offside and the linesman was caught out by it. If the player had gone and scored instead of it going for a corner it would have been reviewed. The corner looked like a mis hit, a St Mirren player deflected it and it landed at a St Mirren players foot. The second goal was a great finish but again the ball was deflected into his path when a Motherwell player stuck out a leg. Two down was always going to be a tough gig. The managers team selection was wrong. Welsh should have played from the start and the handling of Slattery was all wrong. He changed the game at Livingstone and had a great game v United but should have been subbed off after 70 minutes to ensure he was ready for Saturday. Watt who has been outstanding played more bad passes on Saturday than he had in the whole season. Fadinger and Said were anonymous. That said maybe that is credit to St Mirren who allowed us to play it around at the back but once the ball was in midfield they chased and harried and got in our faces. It is now up to JBA to motivate the players and make sure we don't dwell on this. A win at Aberdeen would be great.
  13. Will the Cooper bar be open tomorrow and showing the game?
  14. One worrying thing for me is that two managers, McInnes and Presley have changed things at half time and we have struggled. After the first round of games all managers will have had a close look at us. Let's hope JBA is able to adjust our way of playing if the opposition has sussed us out.
  15. Manager needs to rethink the goalie being 40 yards from his goal. That cost us today and other clubs will be watching. Oh and imagine the melt down if it had been SOD who gave the ball away for the goal.
  16. The tactic of a defender taking a by kick and passing it to the goalie boils my piss. By definition the goalie is the worst outfield player in the team and if we continue with that tactic we will lose crazy goals. Also having the goalie standing 40 yard off his line will lead to someone scoring from their own half. Twente tried a long range shot in the second half but it was a poor effort. I think the manager is in for a rude awakening when the real stuff starts.
  17. Youngsters on now and it's 2-0
  18. Half time subs, SOD, Balmer, Sparrow and Halliday. Off McGinn, Wilson, Miller, Stam
  19. Water break after 20 minutes.
  20. Team v Twente looks like 442 Ward, Johnny K Gordon McGinn Wilson Watt Fadinger Miller Slattery Maswanhise. Stam
  21. It looks like Naismith has had a big GTF as he has ruled himself out. Thank goodness
  22. I remember him as a tiny wee lad at Braidhurst in the seventies. He didn't half grow.
  23. Our colours are claret and amber. Not claret, amber and white. In the fifties and sixties shorts were either black or white. Now we can have claret or amber shorts.
  24. The manager that is being touted that really frightens me is Maloney
  25. It's the people who put money into Davel then jumped ship. Will they stick it out this time?
